Liverpool officially 'unveil' new signing
Liverpool have quietly official unveiled their new signing. It's an incredibly sombre and difficult time at the club right now. As fans, we are still dealing with the loss of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. Nike x Air Max LFC x Nike Air Max Advertisement Buy Now LFC Retro Shirts LFC Retro Shirts Buy Now Home Jersey LFC Kits Buy Now LFC Nike Training LFC Nike Training Buy Now To us, their loss is incomprehensible. But the pain that their teammates, friends, loved ones and family will be feeling is even greater. Jota was a popular figure in the Liverpool squad. His teammates, colleagues and everyone who knew him on a personal level will need time and space to grieve his loss. At this time, that's why Liverpool have not shown footages of pre-season sessions at the AXA training centre, even though the club's preparations are underway ahead of the 2025/26 season. All of Liverpool's new signings have also been participating in these sessions, and there have been a lot of new arrivals already this summer. Advertisement In total, Liverpool welcomed six new faces at the AXA training centre. Most notably, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. However, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman have also been participating with the Reds' first team squad. Meanwhile, Giorgi Mamardashvili has finally joined the team after the Reds agreed to sign him last summer. The Georgian is the only player at the club who we haven't really seen officially unveiled. Even Woodman and Pecsi have had officially unveilings wearing or holding up the Liverpool kit. So far, this hasn't been the case for Mamardashvili. Understandably, as the club mourns Jota, Mamardashvili's unveiling has taken hold for now. Advertisement But This is Anfield has spotted that the club has in a quiet way did in fact 'unveil' him. The site showed that Mamardashvili's name has been added to the list of first team players, with the club adding a profile and an image for the Georgian shot stopper under the first team goalkeepers section. It's a small and subtle confirmation of Mamardashvili's status as a Liverpool player. Undoubtedly, we will get to see much more of him as the club processes the terrible loss of Jota. In fact, fans may get a closer look at Mamardashvili not just in Liverpool colours but in action as well against Preston North End on Sunday. The game will be broadcasted on LFCTV worldwide, and ITV for UK viewers in what will be an extremely poignant and bittersweet game to honour the memory of Jota and Andre Silva.

G.M. Ryan Poles agrees to contract extension with the Bears
The Bears signed head coach Ben Johnson to a five-year contract when they hired him earlier this year and General Manager Ryan Poles is now under contract for the same period. According to multiple reports on Friday, Poles has agreed to an extension that runs through the 2029 season. The move puts him and Johnson on the same timeline as they try to build a winner in Chicago. One of the biggest factors in that quest will be the development of quarterback Caleb Williams, who Poles selected with the first overall pick in the 2024 draft. Poles acquired that pick in a trade with the Panthers that also brought wide receiver DJ Moore to Chicago. Poles spent this offseason building up the offensive line that will protect Williams by acquiring Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman. Poles worked for the Chiefs before being hired by the Bears in 2022. The Bears hired Matt Eberflus as their head coach that year, but fired him after a Thanksgiving loss to the Lions last year. The hope is that the Poles-Johnson partnership is a more successful one.
