Shohei Ohtani creates viral buzz after mocking rib shot from Robert Suarez at MLB All Star Game 2025
An unexpected event happened during the 2025 MLB All-Star Home Run Derby in Atlanta. Los Angeles Dodgers star
Shohei Ohtani
and San Diego Padres pitcher Robert Suarez were seen laughing together, just weeks after a tense moment between them during a game.
What looked like a lighthearted joke now has fans talking, especially after the high drama that played out last month in Los Angeles.
Shohei Ohtani and Robert Suarez laugh off past incident during All-Star Derby
On Monday, July 15, 2025, during the MLB All-Star Home Run Derby at Truist Park in Atlanta, Shohei Ohtani approached Robert Suarez and playfully pointed to his ribs, precisely where Suarez had hit him with a 100 mph fastball last month. Ohtani walking with a false wince while grinning was caught on camera, pretending to be in pain before both players shook hands and chuckled.
Following a violent incident on June 16 at Dodger Stadium, when Suarez struck Ohtani in the ribs with a high-speed pitch throughout a regular season game, this friendly moment comes.
The Dodgers' dugout was visibly angry. Suarez was ejected and later suspended for two games by the league. Managers Dave Roberts of the Dodgers and Mike Shildt of the Padres also received one-game suspensions for the bench-clearing reaction.

'They need to be taught how a film is made': Adoor Gopalakrishnan on SC filmmakers, women directors; sparks controversy
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has come under sharp criticism after his remarks at the closing ceremony of the Kerala government's Film Conclave raised eyebrows. Filmmakers deserve support, not doubt; Adoor's comments stir the hornet's nest Speaking about the Kerala State Film Development Corporation's (KSFDC) support for films made by women and those from Scheduled Caste communities, Adoor said that such filmmakers should be given 'proper training' before being allowed to direct. The ace director said, 'They need to be taught how a film is made... Just letting someone direct a film without guidance is not a good way of promoting them'. 'Public money must be spent wisely'; Veteran's statement faces instant pushback Adoor criticized the state's decision to allocate Rs 1.5 crore per filmmaker under the KSFDC's inclusive funding scheme. He argued that instead of one large grant, the amount should be divided to benefit more filmmakers. 'This is not money for star-driven projects,' he said. 'It is for making good films.' Adoor Gopalakrishnan's book 'We need even more good women filmmakers' While he claimed to support representation, his assertion that selection shouldn't be based 'just because someone is a woman' or from a Scheduled Caste prompted visible discomfort among attendees. Director Dr. Biju and others at the event expressed open disagreement, highlighting the importance of trust, opportunity, and access in creative spaces rather than presumptions about skill or merit. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Stylish New Mobility Scooters Available for Seniors (Prices May Surprise You) Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Search Now Undo Adoor further said, "Likewise, just because someone is a woman, they should not be allowed to direct a film. Women directors too should be given training. There are some very good women directors. We need even more good women filmmakers." In the same speech, Adoor reignited another controversy by labeling the protests at the K.R. Narayanan Film Institute — which challenged his leadership and alleged caste-based discrimination — as 'filthy agitation.' He claimed discipline was being instilled and blamed students for the institute's fall from grace. Additionally, he took a jab at the television industry, saying, 'There's not even a single good programme worth watching. ' Meanwhile, earlier in an event, the veteran director said, "True cinema should touch life and reflect reality. Making cinema is easy, but good cinema is difficult."
