Friends still seek closure 20 years after Maryland woman went missing on way to concert
The Baltimore County woman disappeared 20 years ago on her way to a Motley Crue concert.
Her husband, Dennis Tetso, was convicted in the high-profile killing, but he has never revealed what happened to Tracey.
It was the first murder conviction in Maryland where the body was never found.
Friends push for proper burial
Laura Dickson has waited decades for closure, joining in on the first searches for Tracey Gardner after when she went missing in 2005.
"I always try to put myself in her shoes, and I would want somebody to look for me. I would want somebody to bring me home and remember me," Dickson told WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren. "I know it was gut wrenching for me. Some of those searches were in dumps. We were everywhere. We had a lot of volunteers. We had help from Motley Crue."
Gardner was on her way to the Motley Crue concert in Washington, D.C. Her E-ZPass showed she passed through the Harbor Tunnel.
Tracey's car was found 11 days later at a motel in Glen Burnie off Ritchie Highway.
Surveillance video of it being driven there became the smoking gun in the murder case against her husband Dennis Tetso.
He was the only one with the key fob.
Rocky marriage
WJZ covered every development in the trial including recorded phone calls played in court showing the breakdown in their marriage.
Tracey:"Just get your things and go then, OK? Just get your things and go."
Dennis:"If that's what you want, you're gonna get it."
Tracey:"Oh, OK."
Dennis:"I'll take my things, and I'll move on."
Dennis Tetso showed little visible emotion when he heard the verdict
Tetso never publicly apologized and maintained his innocence, serving just over a decade in prison before his release in 2021.
Dickson believes there may be someone else who knows the location of the body.
"Yes, there was a conviction. Yes, he did his time, but she's still not home. And she wasn't trash to be thrown away. She was a human being that now needs to be laid to rest with her family," Dickson said.
Friends remember victim's spirit
Days like this are tough for close friend Monika Barilla who spoke to Hellgren wearing a button with Tracey's smiling picture.
"It's Tracey. She never likes to smile and show off her teeth anyway. That's the grin. It was taken the night of her bachelorette party. I'm so glad I brought my camera and took all those pictures of her that night," Barilla said. "Somebody knows something. Just speak up. Could you imagine a family member missing? One little piece of evidence you think may not mean anything could solve the case and tell us where she is and let us bring her home and bury her properly. I think she would want us to close the door on it. I know she's in a better place."
Barilla often thinks about her close friend.
"Tracey was just a free spirit. She didn't hold back if something was on her mind. She spoke it. She was just very real, very real, and you knew where you stood with her," Barilla said.
Friends are hopeful someone is finally ready to share their secret and provide the justice that has alluded them for 20 years.
"She brought a lot of people together for good," Dickson said. "Now, she just needs to come home. She just needs to come home."

Sean "Diddy" Combs' Ex Virginia Huynh Submits Letter Supporting Bail
Originally appeared on E! Online Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ex is weighing in on his prison stay. The rap mogul's former girlfriend, Virginia "Gina" Huynh, who identified herself as the previously unnamed 'Victim 3' in his sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy trial, penned a letter to New York Judge Arun Subramanian supporting Combs' request for bail ahead of his Oct. 3 sentencing. In Huynh's letter—submitted to the courts Aug. 3 and obtained by E! News—she detailed knowing Combs for 'many years in both a personal and professional capacity,' and that she will use her knowledge of him 'a father, a family man and a businessman' to share 'observations about his character and to respectfully request that the Court permit his release on bond while the case proceeds.' While describing her relationship with Combs as 'not always perfect,' she wrote that the rapper 'was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make better decisions in the future.' More from E! 'By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior. To my knowledge, he has not been violent for many years, and he has been committed to being a father first.' She also pointed to the trial being Combs' first criminal case and that 'throughout the investigation and proceedings he has been cooperative, respectful and compliant.' She added she does not view the 55-year-old—who is dad to seven children—as a danger to either herself 'or the community,' noting, 'He has substantial ties to his family and community, including children who depend on him for emotional and financial support.' She added that she believes Combs would adhere 'to all conditions imposed and will not jeopardize his freedom or the well-being of his family,' and that allowing him to be at home would 'support the healing process for all involved.' E! News has reached out to Combs' legal team as well as reps for Huynh for comment but has not yet heard back. While Huynh was originally supposed to be called as a witness in Combs' trial, in the days before it began the prosecution shared it was having trouble to get in touch with Victim 3 or her attorneys. She ultimately didn't testify. At the conclusion of the seven-week trial, a New York jury found the rapper guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted him on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He could face up to 20 years in prison for the convictions, though his counsel is seeking 21 to 27 months while prosecutors are asking for 51 to 63 months (approximately four to five years), per NBC News. On July 2, Judge Subramanian confirmed Combs would remain behind bars until his October sentencing hearing, though Combs' legal team submitted another request for bail on July 29—one opposed by the prosecution. In his July 2 ruling, Subramanian cited Combs' "years-long pattern of violence" as a reason for him to remain behind bars, adding that he "continues to be a danger to others and unable to follow the law." Soulja Boy Arrested on Weapons Charge During Los Angeles Traffic Stop
Originally appeared on E! Online Soulja Boy has found himself in more legal trouble. The "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" hitmaker (real name DeAndre Cortez Way) was arrested on a weapons charge during a traffic stop in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, E! News has confirmed. The incident happened just after 2:30 a.m. on August 3 when police made a traffic stop near the intersection of Melrose Ave and Genesee Ave during which Soulja Boy, a passenger in the car, was detained and subsequently arrested for carrying a firearm as a convicted felon, the Los Angeles Police Department stated. The 35-year-old was then booked just after 6 a.m. at the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center, according to inmate records provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. It's unclear if Soulja Boy has since been released or if he is still in custody. E! News has reached out to Soulja Boy's rep for comment and has yet to hear back. The rapper More from E! Back in 2019, Soulja Boy served over three months behind bars for a probation violation after being arrested for carrying firearms and ammunition, per the Los Angeles County Superior Courts. Additionally, the rapper's latest arrest comes just a few months after he'd been ordered to pay an unnamed former assistant after being found liable of assault, sexual battery, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and failure to pay wages. Back in April, a California jury awarded his accuser $4 million in compensatory damages, per the plaintiff's legal team. Soulja Boy's lawyer Rickey Ivie slammed the decision at the time. "It is unfortunate that aspersions and misperceptions of a culture were allowed to influence the trial," he said in a statement to NBC News. "Mr. Way fully intends to pursue his post-trial remedies and to fight for a just result in this case." The "Turn My Swag On" artist had previously denied the claims against him, with a spokesperson telling TMZ, "Soulja would never put his hands on a female. He wouldn't beat a woman or put his hands on a woman." (E! and NBC News are part of the NBCUniversal family.) For the latest breaking news updates, click here to download the E! News App

Aussies warned as 'dangerous' discovery on road hints at growing issue
Police have issued a stark warning to Aussie teens and their parents after a 15-year-old boy was charged following the discovery of a "dangerous" modified BMX frame. It comes as authorities around the country are ramping up efforts to tackle illegal e-bike use and modification and on July 15 police in Gympie, Queensland, intercepted the teen allegedly driving a homemade motorbike. Police allege the motorbike had been created by modifying a BMX bike frame to remove pedals and add electric motors controlled by a throttle, with duct tape holding much of it together. The modifications meant the device was deemed a motorbike without indicators, lights, reflectors, a bell or brakes. 'A powerful bike in the hands of an unlicenced and inexperienced driver is extremely dangerous to not only the rider, but also the other road users,' Inspector Shane Draper said, explaining that the vehicle requires registration, insurance and a driver's licence. To be considered an e-bike and to be legally used on public roads and footpaths, pedals must be the primary source of power, the maximum continuous motor output must be 250 watts or less, and the motor must only provide assistance of up to 25 kilometres per hour. The teenager was issued a notice to appear in Gympie Children's Court on August 14 and was charged with one count of driving a motor vehicle without a driver's licence, driving an unregistered vehicle on the road, and driving an uninsured vehicle. "Beyond enforcement, police are committed to educating the community about the dos and don'ts regarding e-bikes to ensure they're empowered to make smart decisions on the road," Inspector Draper said. 👀 Little-known rule could see you lose licence without driving a car 👵 Elderly clash with youths on e-bike in 'battle of the beaches' 😟 Recurring e-bike complaint 'disgusting' Aussies Parents urged to get involved to reduce dangerous e-bike usage Inspector Draper also urged parents to get involved with e-bike awareness, identifying their key role in helping to reduce the number of youngsters turning to dangerous e-bike use. "I especially urge parents to be familiar with the regulations and road rules regarding e-bikes and to work with their child to understand and respect those rules," he said. "This is all aimed at reducing the significant road trauma, fatalities and life-changing injuries we have seen from the use of the e-bikes." Concerns continue to mount as youngsters turn to e-bikes There have been a number of incidents involving teenagers unsafely driving e-bikes, like the incident in Sydney where shocking footage was captured of "about 30" teens riding alongside cars travelling 70 kilometres per hour, with one rider spotted filming on his phone while riding one-handed. Last week, a 17-year-old boy was charged with manslaughter after a woman was killed by an out-of-control e-bike in Perth's north. New South Wales is proposing to launch a new program targeting school children to promote safe e-bike use and could commence in some schools as early as mid-September. "[The trial] focuses on a number of the basic rules for bicycle users, but also on etiquette and respect," Peter McLean, CEO of Bicycle NSW, previously told Yahoo. "It also includes helpful knowledge around bicycle security and equipment." Do you have a story tip? Email: newsroomau@ You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube.
