DRIVERS have been warned that several streets in Glasgow city centre will close in weeks as filming for a major Hollywood movie gets underway.
Motorists in Glasgow have been urged to plan ahead as crews for the new Spider-Man film prepare to descend on the city in the coming weeks.

Spider-Man 4 is set to be released in cinemas next year

Spider-Man 4, officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has already generated excitement amongst locals over the last few months.
The eagerly awaited sequel will see Tom Holland reprise his iconic role and is set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
It is believed that Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has been cast to star alongside Holland.
We previously told that filming was set to start sometime in the summer, with the film's release date scheduled for July 2026.
And today, The Herald revealed that cameras will officially begin rolling on Friday, August 1.
However, it means that a number of roads will be closed throughout the city for over two weeks as a result.
It will see traffic in some areas come to a near standstill as drivers will be forced to make their way along set-up diversion routes.
The closures are being implemented by Glasgow City Council, which has warned that bus and taxi lanes will also be impacted, with a suspension in place.
A section of the following roads will be closed to all vehicles between Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 9:
Bothwell Street
Wellington Street
West Campbell Street
Blythswood Street
Douglas Street
Pitt Street

The full length of Cadzow Street and Oak Street will also be fully closed on August 9.
More roads will also be closed from Saturday, August 9, until Wednesday, August 13, for further filming.
These include parts of:
Hope Street
Queen Street
Renfield Street
South Frederick Street
St Vincent Street
Ingram Street
West Nile Street
Drury Street (for its full length)
Filming is then set to move further along into Merchant City after Wednesday, August 13.
This means that cars will not be able to drive down the following roads between then and Saturday, August 16:
Wilson Street
Brunswick Stree t
t Hutchison Street
Candleriggs
Scenes are also expected to be filmed on Glassford Street and Virginia Street on Thursday, August 14, and Friday, August 15.
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council told The Herald: 'While we cannot comment on individual productions, the council's Glasgow Film Office is in constant dialogue with film, broadcast and advertising productions of all sizes who are interested in filming in the city to establish how we can support them.
"These productions bring a significant economic benefit to Glasgow, and have helped to steadily grow the capacity of our film and broadcast sector in recent years, as seen in new facilities such as the Kelvin Hall studio.'

Insomniac Games rumoured to be working on three games – but what are they?
The creators behind Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man are said to be juggling three games at once, and only one has been announced so far. The PlayStation 5 might be a disappointment when it comes to Sony exclusive games, but one first party developer has definitely not been letting the side down. Since the PlayStation 5's launch in 2020, Insomniac Games has released three games on the console – cross-gen title Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The studio is currently working on another PlayStation 5 exclusive in Marvel's Wolverine, which was announced back in September 2021 but still doesn't have a release date. However, it seems this project is only one of many titles currently in development at the studio. According to a rumour on Reddit, derived from a LinkedIn post from an employee at the studio, Insomniac is working on three games in total at the moment. The studio, which employs around 520 people (two or three times the size of most other AAA developers), has worked on three games simultaneously in the past – so this isn't as unlikely as it sounds. Former project director Erin Eberhardt, who left the studio in September 2023, confirmed in July of that same year that an unannounced game was in development at the studio, along with Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. We still don't know what this unannounced game is, or if it was shelved, but an Insomniac leak from December 2023 outed the studio's future slate, at that time, up until 2031. This included a Venom spin-off slated for autumn 2025, Wolverine for autumn 2026, Spider-Man 3 for autumn 2028, a new Ratchet & Clank for autumn 2029, an X-Men game for autumn 2030, and an unspecified new IP in 2031. More Trending While it's likely these plans have changed since then, perhaps the biggest question is if the Venom half-sequel, which was slated for this year, still exists. A side mission in Spider-Man 2 appeared to set up Carnage for a future title, but it's unclear if that symbiote story will roll out over a half-sequel like Miles Morales or the inevitable Spider-Man 3. It was reported by VGC that Spider-Man 2 only used 10% of the dialogue that actor Tony Todd recorded, which may be an indication that a half-sequel was at least planned. Todd sadly died in November last year, so if he didn't already record absolutely everything Insomniac needed that would cause great problems for a future Venom appearance. If the Venom game has been axed, the third title could be Ratchet & Clank. However, considering Spider-Man 2 sold significantly more than Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, at over 10 million sales versus around four million, Sony might be pushing for more Marvel titles from the studio. If Wolverine is still slated to come out in autumn 2026, we could see more from the title later this year. Norwich Castle's official Instagram announcement read: "We can't wait to welcome you! "Step back in time in the National Lottery Heritage Fund Norman Palace." Users were quick to express their excitement, with one writing: "Could not BE more ready for this!" While another commented: "I am genuinely coming back from my social media break to comment saying I MUST go." Also, in partnership with the British Museum, a new Gallery of Medieval Life has been created and will display nearly 1,000 artefacts. The redevelopment has seen the restoration of the original medieval floors, as well as upgraded visitor facilities, including a new shop, cafe and learning space. When it reopens its doors, it will also become the UK's most accessible castle, with new lifts to transport guests to all five floors, from the basement to the rooftop battlements. Inside Ireland's 'magical' Disney castle with fairytale tower on sale for €7.5MILLION and it's minutes from the beach Work started on the castle in the summer of 2020 but was delayed due to the Covid pandemic and challenges sourcing building materials. The stone keep was completed in 1121 by King Henry I. Over the years, it has served as a Victorian prison and a museum. Three other castles to visit in the UK THE UK is home to some amazing castles - here are some of the best: Bamburgh Castle This medieval fortress is built overlooking the stunning Northumberland coast, offering a wonderfully picturesque place to explore some of England's history. The castle itself is incredibly well preserved and dates all the way back to the 11th century. The medieval castle has had a fascinating history and was even transformed into an Elizabethan palace. Today its keep, its Tudor towers and Elizabethan garden are among the sites people can explore. Today, the castle is still an active military base, with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo remaining a highlight among visitors. It's also home to Scotland's Crown Jewels as well as other national treasures. Redevelopment plans across UK The UK's oldest museum has also revealed plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment. The Royal Armouries, Leeds, claims to be the oldest museum in the UK and has recently secured a government loan to purchase the land it stands on. Home to the national collection of arms and armour, the museum director, Nat Edwards, has big plans for its future. These plans include the refurbishing of its exhibition galleries, the development of a riverside arts space and the addition of immersive spaces. Nottingham Forest has also recently been given the green light for a major stadium redevelopment. This will see the demolition of one of the stands, to make way for the new Peter Taylor stand. The plans were approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council in June, and will cost the club around £130million.
