Elon Musk breaks silence on article claiming he takes drugs, says: I tried ...
and SpaceX CEO
Elon Musk
has responded to a New York Times report published last week that alleged his use of illicit drugs. The billionaire businessman spent the weekend refuting these claims, going so far as to assert the newspaper was "lying their a** off." The NYT article had claimed Musk has been using illicit drugs. This report subsequently led to speculation regarding his appearance during what was described as the tech billionaire's "farewell" press conference at the Oval Office, where some observers thought he looked "spaced out." Previously, multiple reports have alleged that the world's richest man used substances including ketamine, Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, Adderall, cocaine and LSD. In 2018, Musk also smoked cannabis on Joe Rogan's podcast, which was filmed in California, where recreational use is legal. Check out Musk's reply here
What Elon Musk said about his drug usage
Replying to the comment section of a post shared on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), Musk wrote:
'Also, to be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off. I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so on 𝕏, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then.'

In the comment section of the same post, NYT's PR team wrote:
'Kirsten Grind and Megan Twohey's (author of the article that alleges Musk of drug usage) thoroughly sourced report provides an important and fair look into Musk's drug use and family conflicts. They interviewed a dozen people who have known or worked with him, and saw private text messages, legal documents and photographic evidence.'
'Elon Musk is just lashing out because he doesn't like our article. We provided Musk with multiple opportunities to reply or rebut this reporting before publication, and he declined, opting instead to try to distract with a social post and no evidence,'
the publication further added.
Musk's reply came after an X account posted this:
'Given Elon Musk's business track record, any drugs he's taking should be put in the public's drinking water.'
Responding to the tech billionaire's comment, the X user wrote:
'Nothing wrong with being a little horsey every once in a while.'

Adar infuses Rs 1,500cr into Poonawalla Fin
MUMBAI: Vaccine king Adar Poonawalla 's Rising Sun Holdings cleared a Rs 1,500-crore equity infusion into Poonawalla Fincorp, raising its net worth to Rs 9,700 crore, in the previous week. The capital will support an aggressive retail expansion strategy under MD & CEO Arvind Kapil, who took charge just over a year ago after leading retail loans at HDFC Bank. "This is a story of senior bankers coming in, cleaning up the book, and now the promoter putting in Rs 1,500 crore," Kapil said. "It's a very big confidence statement for where he sees the company going." The NBFC is simultaneously scaling both secured and unsecured lending. It has launched six new businesses - including personal loans, education finance, and commercial vehicle loans - departing from the typical incremental product rollouts seen in the sector. The company has also committed to opening 400 branches this year, including dedicated gold loan outlets, with 80 already operational. Distribution is central to the strategy, Kapil said. The company is expanding into consumer durable stores, where customers can apply for unsecured personal loans at the point of sale through an assisted digital journey. These retail locations, which will grow to 12,000 from 3,000 this year, also serve to originate new borrowers rather than upselling to existing ones. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo "It's a new-to-market model," Kapil said. "We're not just upselling to our existing customers. These are first-time borrowers, approved and disbursed on the spot." Despite caution in the sector, Kapil is confident about unsecured lending. "This is the best time to lend to MSMEs," he said. "With GST data, credit bureau coverage and visibility on multiple loans, the segment is more transparent and robust than ever." Credit costs have fallen to 1.4%, and NCDs now make up 27% of the firm's liabilities. Poonawalla Fincorp is targeting Rs 1.5 lakh crore in AUM over the next four years, up from Rs 41,000 crore. Government identifies key sectors to attract foreign investors
NEW DELHI: Amid signals of companies holding back on investment decisions due to the global uncertainty, govt and Invest India have identified Electronics System Design and Manufacturing, non-leather footwear, chemicals, medical devices, toys and EVs as sectors to court global investors for stepping up foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows. In recent months, net FDI inflows have been in focus as international investors are disinvesting in their existing ventures, largely through IPOs, while Indian companies have also stepped up global investments, resulting in outflows. During April-May, the latest period for which data is available, net FDI was unchanged at $3.9 billion, although gross inflows rose from $15.1 billion to $15.9 billion. In 2024-25, net inflows were estimated at $949 million as against $10 billion in the previous year. Govt is looking to increase gross inflows by focusing on facilitation. "We are focusing on our requirements by systematically identifying the value chains where companies can invest," a senior official said. While the new electronics components scheme has seen a lot of traction, as India seeks to build a resilient supply chain and reduce dependence on China, govt is also banking on a shift away from China as companies diversify their production ecosystem. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Undo In sectors such mobile phones, the production linked incentive scheme has seen the likes of Foxconn invest heavily in India along with their vendor base. Besides, officials said, in segments such as air conditioners too, there was increased focus on manufacturing compressors, motors and copper tubes in India, driven by incentives. The PLI scheme had also helped pharma and medical devices production, the official said. "We are discussing how we can take this forward," the source added. While companies such as Vinfast have entered India to tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles, discussions around lowering import duty through the trade agreements has resulted in some other companies holding back on plans to invest in manufacturing facilities in India. This is despite a special scheme launched by govt that allows imports at subsidised rates for three years, based on a commitment to make in India subsequently. Chinese companies such as BYD were also keen to set up a plant in India but govt has imposed checks on these investments.
