New rose named after Princess of Wales to celebrate nature's healing power
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) unveiled Catherine's Rose, a coral-pink floribunda with a delicate scent of Turkish Delight and mango, as part of its mission to highlight how spending time outdoors supports mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
Proceeds from the sale of the rose will benefit the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The Princess of Wales was treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London for cancer last year.
The princess, who revealed her diagnosis in March 2024, underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy and completed her treatment in September. In January this year, she made a surprise visit to the hospital, expressing her gratitude to staff and encouraging patients by saying there is "light at the end of the tunnel."
According to the RHS, Catherine's Rose attracts pollinators and is suitable for planting in mixed borders, as a hedge, in large containers, or in rose beds. The rose forms clusters of up to 15 blooms, each measuring between 8 and 12 centimetres. The plant itself grows to approximately 1.2 metres tall and 90 centimetres wide.
Clare Matterson, Director General of the RHS, said the rose would 'raise awareness of how nature and gardening can help to heal.'
'We know how important this message is as every day we see how accessing nature and being outside is vital for our health and happiness,' she added.
An initial release of 15,000 Catherine's Rose plants is scheduled for this autumn, with more to be made available in 2026.

Melbourne were seven wins from seven at home before that defeat to the Sea Eagles and saw their six-game NRL winning streak snapped after a gutsy display from Manly. It sparked fresh questions about whether the third-placed Storm deserved to be considered favourites to win the grand final this season. Craig Bellamy's side were still without superstar fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen, who missed his third game in a row with a calf strain. His return will be a massive boost for Melbourne's premiership hopes but Alexander says he's still not completely convinced they're the team to beat. "It's hard to go past Papenhuyzen, Munster, Hughes and Grant. That's the best spine in the game," Alexander said on SEN radio. "The size of the pack, the middles, (Trent) Loiero's an Origin player. Nelson (Asofa-Solomona), Stefano (Utoikamanu), Josh King, it's a big middle and they've got some quality players coming off the bench. "So I guess they are (premiership favourites) but they haven't set the world on fire and if you have a look at the six wins and who they've been against, they got beaten by the Sharks and then went on a six-game run. They beat the Titans, the Cowboys twice, the Bunnies, the Sharks - who were in a hell of a hole when they beat them - and Newcastle." Alexander says while the Storm have been short-priced favourites to win the premiership all season, he sees the same sort of inconsistencies in their displays as other rivals, save from perhaps the ladder-leading Raiders. "They will be the minor premiers, he said about Ricky Stuart's Canberra side. "The run they have home certainly favours the Raiders, who showed again just how dangerous they can be with the ball. They were down against the Eels but they destroyed them in the second half with five tries." The injury-hit Warriors are the only team currently in the top six who Alexander has written off as premiership contenders. But he believes any of the Raiders, Bulldogs, Broncos or Panthers are capable of preventing the Storm from winning the grand final. 'They can, based on the aura... and it doesn't matter if they finish 5th or 6th, cause a home elimination/semi-final to them is irrelevant," Sattler said on SEN radio. 'And they've got players that know how to win and how to prepare.' The Panthers sat dead-last after 12 rounds and many had written off their chances in 2025 but Ivan Cleary's side are now up into sixth after their stunning resurgence. And veteran league reporter Andrew Webster backed Sattler's call about the Panthers and believes their Origin stars will have extra motivation to win another comp after their heartbreaking series loss with NSW. 'When Queensland lose (in Origin), those Melbourne Storm Queenslanders usually rise to the occasion and they go pretty close (to winning),' he said on SEN. 'I reckon that could be the case for Penrith. That will be the motivation for the likes of (Liam) Martin, (Dylan) Edwards, Cleary, Yeo and (Brian) To'o. They go to a new level, and they are a different team in September, and that's how they approach it.'

Tim Tszyu's camp responds after Aussie warned against potential career-ending move
Tim Tszyu is facing a tough career call after his second devastating loss to Sebastian Fundora with the Aussie boxer warned to avoid a mega-money bout with American Keith Thurman. Tszyu was outgunned against his towering American rival having been battered in nearly every round before failing to return from the corner after the seventh. Tszyu showed heart to battle back after a first round knockdown from a left hook, but was bombarded from distance as Fundora took everything the Aussie threw at him. And Tszyu didn't return after the seventh round having looked out on his feet at the end. And Tszyu's third loss in four fights appears to have derailed what could have been mega-money fights against the likes of Jermell Charlo, Errol Spence Jnr and the No.1 target on his list Thurman. Question marks remain over where Tszyu goes from here with the fighter clearly needing a break after two heavy losses across the last 18 months. While Tszyu will most likely be keen on continuing his foray in the US, the Aussie has now lost his three fights overseas. He will be expected to continue his career back on the domestic front and fellow Aussie Michael Zerafa is his predicted opponent. While there is plenty of question marks over his future in the sport, promoter George Rose suggested Tszyu would take some time away first to recover after taking so much damage. Although he had no doubt Tszyu can bounce back. "First and foremost, he needs to just recover from this, go through your process of facing defeat," Rose said after the fight. "You've got to go through your moments with that, and then it's a decision for him. "He's still, as far as talent and capability goes, very much a very capable fighter, a very talented fighter, and I still think that he still beats most of the guys in the division on his night. It's just a decision up to him as to what he's going to do, whether he gets back in the gym on Monday, whether he has a break, what he does." While fans are questioning where Tszyu goes from here, one of his rivals believes there is no doubt the Aussie can bounce back. Although he warned him who he should avoid as his next opponent. Keith Thurman's warning to Tim Tszyu Thurman was in attendance at the Tszyu fight, clearly keen to potentially build the momentum for their potential fight if the Aussie won, but was quick to warn the 30-year-old it could be career-ending if they go toe-to-toe. The outspoken American suggested if they fight it won't go well for Tszyu after his latest displays. 'How bad do want Tim Tszyu to get beat up?' he told The Punch Podcast. 'Y'all hate Tim Tszyu? 'Y'all want him to get murdered?' Thurman felt Tszyu may have overestimated his own talent, before proving himself overseas against elite competition. Speaking on his way out of the arena, Thurman feels Tszyu can build his legacy back up with a few wins. Although he warned him about stepping into the ring against him. 'No, the kid's not done but they need to pick the right fights,' Thurman said. 'They need to pick somebody who is better than (Joey) Spencer but who is not a world champion. Or a Hall of Famer like myself. You take me over to the Gold Coast and I will end Tim Tszyu's career. If that's what you all want to see, pay me and I'll do it. I'll get rid of Tszyu.' Tim Tszyu facing reset back in Australia American boxing great Shawn Porter felt the Aussie may need time to build back up to the big fights before heading back overseas. And this could see Tszyu go home and reset. 'It's hard to not feel this train ride come to a halt,' Porter said. 'It's doesn't mean it's going to end, it's just slowed down...I don't believe that Tim Tszyu has fought his way out of title contention. It just doesn't go through Sebastian Fundora." Porter suggested there were a number of 'technical errors' in Tszyu's style that need to be addressed if he wants to take on top competition again, which starts with his defence and head movement.
