ULFA-I claims 3 senior members killed in drone attack on Myanmar camps, Army denies role
The alleged drone strikes on several camps along the India-Myanmar border took place on Sunday morning, ULFA-I claimed.
Self-styled Lieutenant General Nayan Asom, 'Brigadier' Ganesh Asom and 'Colonel' Pradeep Asom were killed and 19 were injured in the attack, ULFA-I claimed in a purported statement.
The Indian Express quoted Guwahati-based Defence Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat as saying: ' No inputs with Indian Army on such operation.'
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that he did not have information about the incident.
'The Assam Police are not involved in this and no operation was carried out from Assam's soil,' the newspaper quoted Sarma as having told reporters on Sunday.
He added: 'Usually when such incidents take place, there is a statement from the Indian Army but they have not issued it yet. Maybe there will be more clarity on this later.'

AAP started pointing fingers at the BJP when the Lawrence Bishnoi group took responsibility for the crime. State finance minister Harpal Cheema alleged that the BJP has been "protecting" Lawrence Bishnoi. The gangster has been in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat - a state the BJP has been ruling for the last 30 years - since 2014. "We have taken action in the Abhor murder case... It is sad that he is targeting Punjab sitting in Gujarat," Mr Cheema had told reporters. "Why he (Bishnoi) has been given the protection and why has he been kept in jail? Who took Lawrence Bishnoi to Gujarat and why is he being safeguarded there? The BJP seems to be protecting him so that he can be used to create unrest in states ruled by opposition parties," Mr Cheema had alleged. "In states where the BJP is not in power, they are using criminals and gangsters to disturb peace. This is a dangerous conspiracy against the nation's federal structure and law and order," he added.

Pakistan's political, military brass ordered hit at Pahalgam: Officials
File photo: Army jawans on alert in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians was a conspiracy hatched by Pakistan's ISI and terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba on the directions of the country's political and military brass and executed exclusively by Pakistani terrorists , according to sources in the security establishment. In what sources described as an LeT-ISI project akin to the 26/11 Mumbai attack, ISI gave specific directions to Pakistan-based Lashkar commander Sajid Jutt to deploy only foreign terrorists operating in J&K. To ensure secrecy, no Kashmiri terrorist was taken on board. He was directed to ensure minimal local involvement on a "need-to-know" basis. The attack was led by Sulaiman, a suspected former Pakistani special forces commando who had participated in training at LeT's Muridke hub in Pakistan's Punjab before crossing the LoC into the Jammu region in 2022. Two other Pakistanis were also in the hit squad. Satellite phone analysis has revealed that Sulaiman's location on April 15 was in Tral forest, indicating he was in the vicinity of the attack site at Baisaran for almost a week before the incident. Sulaiman was also involved in the April 2023 attack on an Army truck in Poonch in which five soldiers were killed. However, he laid low for the next two years. Sources did not reveal the identities of the two other Pakistani terrorists. Although J&K Police had suspected the role of Pakistani terrorists Hashim Musa and Ali Bhai, probe has only confirmed Sulaiman's role till now. There is no corroboration of the role of local terrorist Adil Hussain Thoker as a facilitator, either. Even the two locals arrested by NIA last month - Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, both from Pahalgam - are believed to have had a limited role, having provided the Pakistani terrorists food, shelter and other logistics in return for a few thousand rupees. They have also denied any knowledge of the terrorists' plan to hit tourists in Baisaran. There are currently about 68 foreign terrorists and three local terrorists active in the Valley.

Defamation case: RaGa to appear in Lko court today
Lucknow: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will appear in Lucknow's MP-MLA special magistrate court Tuesday in a case involving allegedly defamatory statements against the Indian Army made by him during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Lucknow. Rahul's advocate Pranshu Agarwal said after his appearance, bail will be sought from the court. The case was filed by retired BRO director Udai Shanker Srivastava, who alleged that Rahul had made derogatory comments in Lucknow on Dec 16, 2022, days after a face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh. Rahul had said, "People will ask about Bharat Jodo Yatra... but they will not ask a single question about China capturing 2,000sqkm of Indian land, killing 20 Indian soldiers, and thrashing our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh... Don't pretend people don't know." Srivastava called the remarks "false and baseless", made with an "evil intention of demoralising the Indian Army and damaging public faith". He cited the Army's official Dec 12 statement, which described the Dec 9 clash in Arunachal as involving "minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides". Rahul had earlier filed a petition before HC's Lucknow bench against the summons, but was not granted relief. His lawyer had argued in HC that the case was politically driven and Srivastava lacked standing under section 199 CrPC, as the Army — not the petitioner — was the target. On May 29, Justice Subhash Vidyarthi rejected the claim, saying Srivastava was an "aggrieved person" under the law. HC had said Rahul must stand trial, observing a prima facie case exists against him. "Freedom of speech is subject to reasonable restrictions and does not include the freedom to make statements defamatory to any person or to the Indian Army," HC had noted.
