OWEN FARRELL will join up with the Lions in Australia today after a sensational SOS from tour boss and dad Andy.
The former England captain, 33, replaces Elliot Daly, who broke his arm in Wednesday's 52-12 win over the Reds in Brisbane.

Farrell Jr, who is making his fourth Lions tour, is not a straight swap for full-back/wing Elliot Daly but will compete for the No 10 and 12 shirts.
However, Faz has not played for England since the 2023 World Cup and has just signed for old club Saracens again after a disastrous season in France with Racing 92.
And he has also not seen any action for two months because of concussion.
Farrell Sr defended his son's shock call-up and insists he is in contention for a Test spot.

He said: 'If he didn't have a chance then what is the point?
'Everybody should be competing and that is what everyone in the group would want.
'Along with that, the experience he brings, the support that you need for the group and how you make the room feel.
'He's the right man at this moment in time. We know how much he looks after himself and prides himself on keeping in good nick.

'At this stage there are plenty of players who haven't played for quite some time and experience — knowing what you can do — helps in that.

Andy Farrell picks Simon Easterby among British & Irish Lions coaching team
'He flies in and gets here late on Friday night. I'm sure he'll be dying to get at it.'
Faz, who has 112 England caps, joins Brian O'Driscoll and Alun Wyn Jones among modern greats to go on four Lions tours.
He is highly respected for his leadership and winning mentality.
And his dad added: 'The person's still the person, the character's still the character and the player inside is still the player inside if he is fit and well and ready to fire.
'We see all the hunger that has always been there. We see him adding to the group and injecting a bit of life and experience.
'There are other coaches in that conversation, it's not just on me.
'I make the final call and I'm happy to do that but these conversations have been going on in the background about all sorts of players and that's the call that we came to.'
Daly, 32, said an emotional goodbye to the squad last night as they prepare for tomorrow's clash with the Waratahs here.
Head coach Farrell said: 'It is heartbreaking for the group that Elliot's tour is over. He is a Lions legend.'
There are 14 changes to the starting line-up with Irish lock Tadhg Beirne leading the side as skipper
Scot Blair Kinghorn is set for his first start on the wing while Ireland's Hugo Keenan, who was ill and replaced by Daly, makes his Lions debut at full-back.

Eight Irish starters named in Lions team to face Brumbies in Canberra

The 42 Reports from Canberra LIONS HEAD COACH Andy Farrell has named eight Irish players in his strong starting XV for Wednesday's warm-up clash with the Brumbies [KO 11am Irish time, Sky Sports]. This game is being viewed as a Test rehearsal for the Lions, with their opening meeting against Australia 10 days later. There is one more warm-up game ahead on Saturday against an AUNZ Invitational team, but this Brumbies clash has increasingly looked like the last opportunity for Farrell to run most of his Test combinations. Jamison Gibson-Park and Finn Russell will resume their halfback pairing at Gio Stadium, while Irish centres Bundee Aki and Garry Ringrose start together. Scotland's Blair Kinghorn gets his first Lions start at fullback, making up the back three with James Lowe and Tommy Freeman. Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong are picked in the front row with Ellis Genge, while Ireland's Joe McCarthy partners captain Maro Itoje in the second row. Jack Conan is at the heart of a back row that is completed by English pair Tom Curry and Ollie Chessum, the latter at blindside. Advertisement There are four more Irish players on the bench in Rónan Kelleher, Andrew Porter, Josh van der Flier and Mack Hansen, who will play in his hometown of Canberra. Interestingly, the Lions bench includes two back rows in van der Flier and Henry Pollock despite Farrell going for a 5/3 split, with Chessum providing second row cover from within the starting XV. Wayne Rooney 'lands €927k deal' as new Match of the Day pundit

Wayne Rooney has reportedly signed a €927,000 contract to serve as a pundit on Match of the Day starting from next season. The England legend is set to join the BBC's flagship programme following Gary Lineker's exit as its presenter. Lineker had been at the helm of the show for 25 years before stepping down at the conclusion of the previous season. He was due to continue hosting FA Cup matches and the upcoming World Cup next summer, but he parted ways with the BBC entirely after a controversy over a social media post containing an alleged anti-Semetic trope. His shoes have been filled by Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates, who will take turns presenting Match of the Day and its Sunday counterpart, Match of the Day 2. Joining this trio will be Rooney, who is set to feature as a pundit, according to The Sun. Since his dismissal as Plymouth manager on New Year's Eve, Rooney has been dabbling in more punditry work on both the BBC and Sky Sports. The agreement reportedly includes the option for a two-year extension, and it's anticipated that Rooney will join the likes of Alan Shearer, Jurgen Klinsmann, Rio Ferdinand and Joe Hart as a pundit for the World Cup, reports the Mirror. Rooney, 39, holds the record for the most goals scored for Manchester United and held the same record for England at the time of his retirement, a record since broken by Harry Kane. He first made waves at his childhood club Everton before transferring to Old Trafford, where he netted 253 goals in 559 appearances, clinching five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy along the way. Rooney made his way back to Everton in 2017 before jetting off to the US to join DC United. He took on the dual role of player-manager at Derby in 2020, where he eventually retired from playing. After a stint managing DC United once more, Rooney faced challenging times with Birmingham and Plymouth. This new chapter could mark the end of his time in management. Lineker, who presented his last Match of the Day in May, left viewers with heartfelt parting words. "Alan [Shearer] and Micah [Richards], I suspect our paths will cross again very shortly," he expressed. He seized the moment to express gratitude to his colleagues: "Let me take this opportunity to thank all of the other pundits that I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years, you've made my job so much easier." Lineker also paid tribute to the unseen heroes behind the scenes: "Also, a huge thank you to those you don't see at home: the work that goes into making this iconic show is a huge team effort. From the editors, to the analysis team, from the commentators to the floor managers, from the producers to the camera operators, from the PAs to the subs, thank you all, you're the very best." Reflecting on his career, he joked: "Rather like my football career, everyone else did all the hard work and I got the plaudits. It's been an absolute privilege to host Match of the Day for a quarter of a century. It's been utterly joyous. I'd like to wish Gabby, Mark and Kelly for when they sit in this chair - the programme is in the best of hands. "And my final thank you goes to all of you. Thank you for watching. Thank you for all of your love and support over the years. It's been so special - and I'm sorry that your team was always on last. Time to say goodbye. Goodbye."

Redemption, karma… There's only one jockey who makes sense on Field Of Gold with Colin Keane set to be banned

REDEMPTION and karma are wonderful things not always experienced by all. John & Thady Gosden are now likely to have the chance of putting their anger to one side and giving Kieran Shoemark the chance of redemption. Advertisement 2 Juddmonte's retained rider Colin Keane is set to miss the ride on superstar Field Of Gold in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood later this month due to a whip ban Credit: Getty 2 Matt Chapman reckons this is the perfect chance for John & Thady Gosden to give their former jockey Kieran Shoemark the ride... even if Oisin Murphy is more likely Credit: Shutterstock Editorial And in doing so the handlers themselves can gain karma and peace! None of you will be surprised I'm talking Field Of Gold, of course, who is set to run in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on July 30. Shoemark lost the ride when he was defeated by a narrow margin in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. That came on the back of a brilliant display by both jockey and horse in the Craven Stakes, when John Gosden was keen to praise Shoemark for his efforts. Advertisement Subsequently, Colin Keane rode Field Of Gold to facile successes in the Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes. But Keane is this week likely to be given a whip ban which will rule him out of the Sussex. I'd be close to certain that owners Juddmonte would have no issue with Shoemark on top. Why would they? The rider has a tremendous record for the outfit over the last 12 months, and of course was brilliant at Goodwood in the Nassau when Lady Bowthorpe banged in her Group 1 in 2021. Advertisement Most read in Horse Racing That day owner Emma Banks showed loyalty and decency. And she was rewarded in spades. Of course I'm not totally crazy, and the chances are the Gosdens will refuse to let Shoemark do what is so obvious. Indeed, it's more than likely Oisin Murphy will be called up to ride Field Of Gold should Keane be absent. Rumours abounded that Murphy had, actually, been pencilled in to ride Field Of Gold in the Irish 2000 Guineas before Keane was put up as the Juddmonte main man. Advertisement But I can't back that up with any substance. It might have just been a rumour. Whatever the case, on a humane level Shoemark and Field Of Gold back together in the Sussex just seems the right way to go for all concerned. I won't hold my breath, but come on, people, you know it makes sense. Meanwhile… Much has already been said and written about the Coral-Eclipse since Saturday, but it will long remain one of the most insane races I have ever seen. Advertisement I spoke to more than one of the connections of Delacroix who were convinced he would be making all. I certainly didn't hear anyone suggest Delacroix would be ridden for a turn of foot! And of course he wasn't, for all that is what he eventually needed. Delacroix was last turning for home. OMG! Advertisement And who has ever thought Sosie was a front-runner? He was in the Eclipse, which was odd in the extreme. The one thing you know about French raiders is they mostly have a closing kick. Just a bizarre race, and if you have studied his body language to any degree at numerous moments Ryan Moore looked fairly miffed with how things were going. I wonder at what point Moore really thought – 'I might just go and win this'. Advertisement At a guess, only once Delacroix was pulled out wide and after a few strides started to get going. But at that stage Ombudsman was clear albeit he had probably been in front for long enough. As a form guide for the future, it's hard to say the Eclipse will be a reliable one. But what you can say is that Delacroix must be some machine. Advertisement Looking ahead I wonder if one day he will end up in the Breeders' Cup Mile or Turf? Which one would you pick for him?
