Mohit Suri
is celebrating two big milestones — his new romantic drama Saiyaara has earned over Rs 132 crore at the Indian box office in just five days, and he has also completed 20 years in the Hindi film industry.
Suri started his journey as a director in 2005 with Zeher, a romantic drama starring Emraan Hashmi and Shamita Shetty.
Although Zeher didn't do well at the box office, its music became very popular. One song in particular, 'Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein,' sung by
Atif Aslam
, became a timeless romantic hit. But at first, Suri didn't like how the song sounded.
'I remember clearly, I had heard the programming of 'Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein' by a very senior music director. And I got very depressed because he'd ruined the song. And I started crying. So, Mukesh ji started laughing at me. He said, 'Stop, you don't have to cry and all. We'll do something.' I was 22-23 years old,' Suri said in a chat with music composer
Mithoon
for SCREEN.
Mukesh Bhatt
, the film's producer, then took Suri to meet another music director. By chance, they ran into
Naresh Sharma
, a well-known music arranger and Bhatt's old collaborator. Bhatt had great respect for Sharma and spoke about his past work.
'He exchanged the hellos and his with Naresh ji, came back to me, and gave me a whole brief on how your father was instrumental in the music and background score of Aashiqui (1990) and Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991).

He was the main person who arranged the music of Aashiqui,' Suri told Mithoon.
Naresh Sharma then mentioned that his son, Mithoon, also did background scores. Bhatt suggested that Suri meet him.
'I said hi to you, I don't think you even looked at me. You were so into your music that you went back into it. I don't think you cared at that time. Your dad insisted these youngsters should work together. You were 19, I guess,' Suri recalled.
He added, 'There was some honesty in the way you were doing it. If you looked at me properly, socialized with me — I mean I was a nobody, I hadn't done anything — but Mukesh Bhatt, who's known for his music, if you'd overdone that, (I wouldn't have worked with you). But you were so spiritual about your music.'
That's how Mithoon ended up composing the final version of 'Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein.

Dhanush Says Aanand L Rai Invested Own Money To Cast Him In Raanjhanaa: 'They Didn't Have Budget'

Last Updated: Dhanush reveals he nearly turned down Raanjhanaa due to budget issues, and shares how director Aanand L Rai personally backed him to play Kundan. Dhanush might be a big name in Tamil cinema, but back in 2013, when he was gearing up for his Bollywood debut with Raanjhanaa, things weren't exactly smooth sailing. In fact, he nearly walked away from the film altogether. The actor recently looked back on the film during a special fan screening celebrating its 12th anniversary. While Raanjhanaa became a cult favourite over the years, Dhanush admitted that he was close to saying no – and it all came down to the budget. 'At that time, they didn't have the right kind of budget for hiring me as the lead actor. But this man's (Aanand L Rai) passion was so strong that he just wanted me to play Kundan. He could have offered any actor this part and they would have happily come on board. After all, it's such a great part," Dhanush shared, as quoted in SCREEN. The part he's talking about – Kundan – was a lovestruck Varanasi boy whose obsession and heartbreak eventually pull him into the world of politics. According to him, director Aanand L Rai had to take a big risk to make it happen. 'He went against all odds. I don't know I am supposed to say this and I don't care! He invested his own money as well. He went all out (to cast me). He saw Kundan in me and he stayed true to his vision," Dhanush said. Even for a seasoned performer like Dhanush, the pressure was real. He revealed that stepping into the Hindi film world brought a kind of fear he hadn't experienced before. 'I was not scared during my first film. When I was written off, I was not scared. That's how I am. But for the first time, I was scared. I felt responsible. So, I was praying so hard to God that 'Somehow save this man,'" he said, reflecting on the weight of expectations. In the end, the gamble paid off. Raanjhanaa clicked with audiences and critics alike. 'They made a cult classic. It is not the story of Kundan and Zoya. It is the story of two mad men who believed in this," Dhanush added. The film also starred Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and became a defining moment in Aanand L Rai's directorial career. Since Raanjhanaa, Dhanush and Aanand L Rai have teamed up again, including in the 2021 film Atrangi Re, and are working together on Tere Ishq Mein – a film Rai has said is set in 'the same world as Raanjhanaa." Edelweiss Mutual Fund CEO Radhika Gupta on Prada Kolahpuris controversy This is not the first time that Radhika Gupta has called out a luxury fashion brand. Recently, the Edelweiss CEO criticised Prada for showcasing scandals that resemble closely to India's traditional Kolhapuri chappals. Gupta has criticised Prada for not giving the due credit to the original artisans. Her remarks soon went viral on social media calling for the recognition and preservation of India's textile heritage . Gupta shared a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) in which she criticised Prada. '500 rupee chappal sold for 1 lakh, without any credit! This is why I am obsessed with wearing and talking about handlooms. Every child knows who Prada and Gucci are, but very few in a room know a Himroo, Sambalpuri or Narayanpet. Our textile heritage and craftsmanship is for us to preserve, brand and benefit from. As for Prada... Superman' box office collections day 17: James Gunn's film stays the course; soars past Rs 3600 Cr globally

James Gunn's Superman (3D) is showing no signs of slowing down globally. With a whopping worldwide gross of Rs 3603.76 crore, the film has become one of the standout performers of the year internationally. In India, while the total net collection stands at Rs 47.95 crore, the movie has earned an estimated gross of Rs 57.26 crore, as reported by the Sacnilk website. Regional versions contribute The film's dubbed Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi versions have shown patchy performances in contrast. Telugu has collected Rs 1.67 crore so far, with the early days contributing the bulk. Tamil fared similarly with Rs 1.84 crore net, where the peak was mostly during the first weekend. The Hindi version has pulled in Rs 9.65 crore so far, thanks to support from Hindi-speaking metros and decent Sunday traction during the first two weekends. Although numbers started tapering off post Day 10, the Hindi audience has shown a steady trickle. Strong start, predictable dip, and weekend revival 'Superman' launched with Rs 7.25 crore on day 1 and picked up further on its first Saturday with Rs 9.5 crore. The film saw a minor drop on Sunday but maintained momentum, closing its opening weekend with Rs 26 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Casa Maquista chefs explore turmeric's essence in Macanese cuisine. Though far from record-breaking, 'Superman's numbers reflect a stable theatrical presence, aided by Gunn's fresh take on the DC universe and a cast that brings renewed energy to familiar capes. With a few more days of run ahead, the film may inch closer to the Rs 50 crore milestone in India. The film features David Corenswet as the iconic Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult , Isabela Merced , Nathan Fillion , Anthony Carrigan, and Edi Gathegi in prominent roles.
