Hamdan bin Mohammed meets with first batch of companies granted Dubai AI Seal
Initiative supports trusted AI partnerships and strengthens Dubai's leadership in responsible AI deployment
Hamdan bin Mohammed: The private sector plays — and will continue to play — a vital role in driving Dubai's future progress and innovation
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, met with representatives of the first group of companies granted the Dubai AI Seal, during his visit to Dubai AI Week 2025.
The Dubai AI Seal, launched in January 2025 by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) under the directives of His Highness and in line with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI, is a pioneering initiative designed to promote trust in reputable artificial intelligence companies and reinforce Dubai's position as a global AI leader.
His Highness said: "A few months ago, we launched the Dubai AI Seal initiative to create a comprehensive framework that fosters partnerships between government entities and specialised technology companies working on AI applications in Dubai, the UAE, and beyond. Today, we celebrate the first group of tech companies to receive the Dubai AI Seal and we look forward to expanding these partnerships in the future."
His Highness added: 'In Dubai, we believe in proactively preparing for the future and in the transformative power of technology to enhance people's quality of life and improve government performance. We aim to continually accelerate efforts to harness artificial intelligence in pursuit of our strategic goals and ambitions.'
'The private sector plays — and will continue to play — a vital role in driving Dubai's future progress and innovation,' His Highness said.
Awarded to companies that meet a rigorous set of evaluation criteria, the Dubai AI Seal provides a structured framework to build strong and secure partnerships between government entities and trusted technology providers. Certified companies receive a unique serial number and classification, enabling government and private sector organisations to identify and engage with AI companies that uphold the highest standards of quality, security, and responsible use.
The initiative also mandates that any technology company wishing to participate in government AI projects in Dubai must first obtain the Dubai AI Seal. Certified companies are granted the right to display the seal across their digital platforms and promotional materials, highlighting their credibility and alignment with Dubai's strategic AI vision.
All technology companies licensed in Dubai that offer AI-related products or services will be assessed upon their application for the Dubai AI Seal across key criteria: the nature of AI activities and services, the number of specialised AI engineers employed, current and upcoming projects, and partnerships with government and private sector stakeholders.
By establishing a trusted network of AI providers, the Dubai AI Seal initiative creates new business opportunities, enables responsible AI adoption, and recognises the sector's growing economic significance and its potential to generate jobs and long-term partnerships.
The initiative is overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, with DCAI tasked with supporting government entities in adopting emerging technologies, developing AI-related regulations, attracting global solutions, empowering national talent, and enhancing the quality of life of Dubai's residents.
His Highness's meeting with the AI companies reaffirms Dubai's commitment to nurturing a future-ready AI ecosystem rooted in trust, innovation, and strategic collaboration.
Dubai AI Week is hosting 10,000 participants from over 100 nationalities, featuring more than 180 speakers, over 150 sessions and workshops, and more than 140 activations. Taking place from 21–25 April 2025, the event brings together global thought leaders from startups, corporates, governments, and academia to shape the future of artificial intelligence.

Dubai welcomes 9.88 million tourists in first half of 2025
Dubai has welcomed 9.88 million tourists from January to June, 2025, marking a 6 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. "Dubai continues to set new records in international visitation," highlighted His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai in a social media post. It reflects "Dubai's ability to create compelling experiences that meet the evolving needs of visitors has strengthened its status as one of the world's most sought-after destinations". "From exceptional infrastructure to unique attractions, Dubai offers a model of excellence in the tourism and hospitality sectors grounded in innovation," he highlighted. According to data published by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the GCC and MENA proximity markets had a combined 26 per cent share of overall visitors to Dubai from January to June 2025, with 1.51 million (15 per cent) and 1.12 million (11 per cent) arrivals respectively. Western Europe was the largest source market to Dubai, with 2.12 million visitors (22 per cent), followed by CIS and Eastern Europe (15 per cent), South Asia (15 per cent), North East and South East Asia (9 per cent), the Americas (7 per cent), Africa (4 per cent) and Australasia (2 per cent). In the first six months of 2025, the city expanded its hotel inventory with new openings across all segments and in various locations, including Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab in Umm Suqeim, Cheval Maison in Expo City, The Biltmore Hotel Villas in Al Barsha, and Vida Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai. Dubai's accommodation portfolio also showed growth with upcoming high-profile openings such as the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai; ZUHHA Island on The World Islands; and Ciel Dubai Marina, Vignette Collection, which is set to be the world's tallest all-hotel tower. A series of tourism campaigns by the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), with international stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Jake Bongiovi, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have helped in the numbers. "Dubai has become even more accessible, with a robust infrastructure and a business-friendly environment that fosters collaboration, while a year-round calendar of leisure, trade and MICE events have further diversified the city's visitor base and generated significant economic impact," added Issam Kazim, CEO of DCTCM. DET's data revealed that the emirate's hotel sector achieved impressive results across all hospitality metrics. From January to June 2025, average occupancy for hotels in Dubai stood at 80.6 per cent, up from 78.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2024. Gastronomy continues to be a key attraction for international visitation and investment to Dubai, with the city's diverse culinary scene consistently recognised globally. The fourth edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai was unveiled in May, and it featured a total of 119 restaurants across 35 cuisines, including the city's first three-starred restaurants. 'Dubai's strong tourism performance in the first half of 2025 reflects the enduring strength and adaptability of our economic model, even amid persistent global headwind," added Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General, DET.

e& Delivers Strong Q2 Financials with Subscriber Surge
e& has reported an impressive net profit of AED 3.5 billion for the second quarter of 2025, up 9.7 per cent year‑on‑year, driven by a substantial rise in its global subscriber base. The company's performance outstripped the average analyst forecast of AED 2.84 billion, underlining robust execution in a competitive market. Consolidated revenue for Q2 rose 28.1 per cent to AED 18.0 billion, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation increased by approximately 22.2 per cent year‑on‑year to AED 8.0 billion, yielding an EBITDA margin of around 44–44.5 per cent. For the first half of 2025, the group's net profit surged 60.7 per cent to AED 8.8 billion, on consolidated revenue of AED 34.9 billion, up 23.3 per cent compared with the same period in 2024. Expansion of its subscriber base emerged as a key growth driver: the total number of users increased 13.1 per cent year‑on‑year to 198 million globally, including a rise to 15.5 million domestic subscribers in the UAE. Executives attribute this growth to rising demand for advanced connectivity, AI‑enabled services and bespoke digital solutions. ADVERTISEMENT Chairman H. E. Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Alzaabi said that the financial strength reflects disciplined strategy and long‑term value creation, citing initiatives such as the UAE Sovereign Cloud Launchpad launched with AWS and the UAE Cybersecurity Council, which targets digital sovereignty and is projected to add US$ 181 billion to the national digital economy by 2033. CEO Hatem Dowidar highlighted strategic divestments—such as exits from Khazna and Airalo—and expansion into new territories, including the acquisition of Serbia Broadband, as milestones in the company's growth path. Operational enhancements also supported performance. e& secured a Tier S rating under the Dubai AI Seal for responsible AI use, formed partnerships with Qualcomm to scale 5G and edge AI, and rolled out Business Continuity as a Service, an AI governance framework with IBM, and an AI lab in collaboration with Open Innovation AI. Financial metrics reveal strong cash generation and low leverage. Operating free cashflow rose 15.6 per cent year‑on‑year to AED 5.5 billion, with free cashflow margin around 30.7 per cent. Group net debt stood at AED 34.5 billion, yielding a modest net debt/EBITDA ratio of 1.19x, with a cash balance of AED 30.9 billion as of the end of Q2. Capital expenditure excluding spectrum and licence fees totalled AED 2.5 billion, representing a capex intensity of approximately 13.8 per cent. Analyst consensus indicates that e& is consolidating its position as a global telecom‑tech operator. Brand Finance named it the world's fastest‑growing brand, and the company has been expanding its footprint internationally, including launching a new office in Miami and forging partnerships across the Americas with Digicel. On the market front, performance in the sector is mirroring broader regional sentiment. UAE stock markets climbed driven by rising oil prices and optimism over trade agreements, lifting telecom shares, including a 1 per cent rise for Du following stronger quarterly results ■… While Emirates NBD, the UAE's largest lender, saw a profit decline in the first half of 2025 due to tax impacts and weaker recoveries, e& stands in contrast with strong growth momentum and robust profitability
