Sharjah Chamber to honour Sharjah Excellence Award winners on June 25
The Sharjah Excellence Award (SEA)'s Board of Trustees has announced that the closing ceremony to honour the winners of the award's 2024 edition will take place on 25th June.
The award is organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The board also commended the notable growth in participation for this year's edition of the award.
The announcement was made during the regular meeting of SEA's Board of Trustees, chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Excellence Award.
The meeting was attended by Hamad Ali Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD); Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA); Waleed AbdelRahman BuKhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI; Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Al Shehhi, SCCI's Board Member; Najla Ahmed Al Midfa, Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa); Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Sharjah for Community Affairs; and Lalu Samuel, Managing Director of Pierlite Middle East Sharjah.
During the meeting, SEA's Board of Trustees approved an extension of the registration deadline for the award's 2025 edition to 31st January 2026. Discussions included key proposals, most notably the potential launch of a new category titled 'Best Service Entity'. The Board also underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange with prominent excellence awards across the UAE.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and praising the efforts and achievements of the Sharjah Excellence Award's team.
He affirmed the Sharjah Chamber's ongoing commitment to enhancing the award's impact as a strategic platform for promoting excellence and innovation across the business sector. This initiative aligns with Sharjah's integrated development strategy, which prioritises quality, innovation, and institutional excellence in building a competitive and sustainable knowledge-based economy.
Al Owais further underlined the award's role as a catalyst for advancing corporate performance standards and actively contributing to the ambitious development path of Sharjah and the UAE.
Nada Al-Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, stated that the meeting produced key outcomes that will define the award's upcoming phase. Among them is the decision to extend the registration deadline for the next cycle to 31st January, 2026, allowing greater participation from private sector institutions. SEA's Board of Trustees also recommended evaluating the introduction of a new category under the title 'Sharjah Award for Best Service Entity'.
Al-Hajri further noted that the meeting discussed several development proposals aimed at enhancing the award's appeal and expanding its outreach impact, including a suggestion to allow participation from companies operating across all emirates of the UAE.

Sharjah: Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, inaugurated yesterday, Friday, the 4th edition of the annual Mango Festival 2025, which is taking place at Expo Khorfakkan. Held under the theme "Mango: Our Fruit, Our Wealth", the three-day festival is being organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan and Khorfakkan City Municipality. This year's edition is the most notable to date, featuring the participation of more than 33 farmers and several companies specialising in agriculture and fertilization. The festival also hosts delegations from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, and Uganda. The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; H.E. Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE); H.E. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr Alnaqbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of KhorFakkan; H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; and H.E. Counselor Abdul Wahab Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, in addition to members and heads of municipal councils in Sharjah. Also present were H.E. UAE participates in 10th Meeting of Board of Governors of AIIB
During the meeting, the Board reviewed key achievements over the past year and explored future initiatives and projects. Participants emphasised the importance of coordinated international efforts to address global economic challenges—particularly those related to climate change—by expanding strategic partnerships, mobilising concessional finance, and investing in sustainable infrastructure. Dr. Al Jaber commended AIIB's pioneering achievements and its critical role in financing transformative infrastructure projects across member countries. He noted that the UAE's support for this strategic partnership aligns with the directives of its wise leadership, which prioritises multilateral cooperation, economic development, and bridge-building among nations. During his meeting with Zou Jiayi, the new President of AIIB, Dr. Al Jaber reaffirmed the UAE's continued support for AIIB's efforts to expand its global impact, noting the Bank's success since its establishment in improving living standards in many countries through developmental support and showcasing the importance of multilateral institutions in both development and financing. Over the past decade, AIIB has approved financing exceeding US$60 billion to support 318 projects. According to its 2024 Annual Report, the Bank recorded exceptional operational growth, approving 51 new projects in 19 member countries, amounting to US$8.4 billion in financing. AIIB also made significant progress in climate financing, allocating 67 percent of its total $5.6 billion in funding to sustainable projects—exceeding its 2025 target of 50 percent. Among these initiatives were renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of more than 21 gigawatts, contributing to the annual avoidance of approximately 28 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. This decade of success reflects the UAE's forward-looking vision and its dedication to supporting multilateral institutions focused on sustainable development.
