Lucid Misses Q2 Delivery Target—Is This Penny Stock Still a Growth Play?

As electric vehicle makers try to stay on track in a tough market, penny stock Lucid Motors (LCID) is still fighting to prove it has long-term potential. In the second quarter of 2025, Lucid delivered 3,309 vehicles, a 6% increase from the previous quarter and a new record for the company. However, Lucid missed Wall Street's forecast of 3,611 deliveries. The shortfall has renewed concerns about soft demand, especially for its premium Gravity SUV, which is key to Lucid's growth strategy. Lucid has built just 6,075 vehicles so far this year. To meet its full-year goal of 20,000 units, it needs to more than double production in the second half. So, is Lucid still a stock with strong growth potential? Wall Street isn't too sure. Most experts now rate Lucid as a Hold, meaning they don't see big gains coming soon. The company is making some progress, but it still struggles to grow fast enough. Until the Gravity SUV starts selling well, the stock may not move much. Lucid Bets Big on Its New Gravity SUV Lucid is relying on its new Gravity SUV to help close the gap in production and drive future growth. The company began building the SUV in late 2024, but most of the early units went to employees, friends, and family. Only recently has Lucid started delivering the Gravity to regular customers. LCID's interim CEO Marc Winterhoff has admitted that the rollout has been slower than planned. He blamed the delays on strict quality checks and rising costs tied to new U.S. tariffs. According to Winterhoff, those tariffs have increased Lucid's overall costs by 8% to 15%. The company is also still working through supply chain problems that continue to slow production. Despite the setbacks, Lucid said that customer interest in the Gravity SUV remains strong. All Eyes on Q2 Earnings Lucid is set to report its Q2 earnings in August. Investors will be watching for signs that the Gravity SUV is gaining momentum beyond early adopters. If Lucid can't build and sell the Gravity SUV quickly, it could fall further behind, especially as more people pick cheaper cars like hybrids or gas models. , an improvement from the $0.34 per share loss in the same quarter last year. Meanwhile, revenues are expected to rise by 46% from the same quarter last year, reaching $292.3 million in Q2. Is Lucid Stock a Good Buy Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on LCID stock based on one Buy, seven Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 9.87% loss in its share price over the past year, the average LCID price target of $2.79 per share implies 36.10% upside risk.

AMD Stock Leaps on PlayStation 5 Pro FSR 4 Integration

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock was up on Wednesday after the semiconductor company revealed its FSR 4 technology will be added to Sony's (SONY) PlayStation 5 Pro consoles in 2026. This will be an upgrade to the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which debuted alongside the powered-up PS5 in 2024. FSR 4 is already available to PC gamers, offering artificial intelligence (AI)-upscaled images for more detailed displays. The technology is the result of the Project Amethyst collaboration between the two companies. This development partnership will also likely lead to new technology that will power the planned PlayStation 6. Unfortunately, owners of the base PlayStation 5 won't see the advantages that FSR 4 will offer. That's due to the console lacking the necessary hardware for this tech. This is also why the game console doesn't have PSSR support. AMD Expands Its Video Game Console Dominance Sony isn't the only entertainment company that AMD has teamed up with. The company also signed a development deal with Microsoft (MSFT) to develop gaming hardware. This has the company's semiconductor technology acting as the core of Xbox devices, including the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming PC. PlayStation and Xbox both use AMD's chips for their consoles. The only one of the big three console makers that doesn't is Nintendo (NTDOF). Its Switch 2 handheld/home console hybrid is powered by Nvidia (NVDA) technology. AMD stock was up 1.74% as of Wednesday morning and has risen 14.6% year-to-date. However, the shares are still down 16.96% over the past 12 months. Is AMD Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold? Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for AMD is Moderate Buy, based on 24 Buy and 10 Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average AMD stock price target of $133.55, representing a potential 3.51% downside for the shares.

iPad Fold 'On Hold' Apple Stock (NASDAQ:AAPL) Gains Despite Device Delay

So, long-time watchers of consumer electronics giant Apple (AAPL) know that Apple has been pursuing foldable devices for some time now. And one of these devices is apparently on track. That cannot be said for a different model, though. The end result is a net positive for Apple investors, who sent shares up over 2% in the closing minutes of Wednesday afternoon's trading. Make smarter investment decisions with TipRanks' Smart Investor Picks, delivered to your inbox every week. We know that Apple is planning to debut the foldable iPhone in 2026, at last report. And that launch date looks like it is on track to happen. However, the same cannot be said for the foldable iPad, also known as the iPad Fold. Development on that device has been put on hold, reports noted, and the reasons why may surprise you. Apparently, the iPad Fold is running into manufacturing issues, as well as mounting production expenses thanks to that foldable display that makes an iPad Fold an iPad Fold. But worse yet, there is flagging customer interest in the 'larger foldable devices' like the iPad Fold. Between the fact that the iPad Fold is a lot more expensive to make than expected, and there is less demand for it than expected, the end result is a project that is at least stalled, and potentially, dead altogether. Perfect Timing However, a separate report noted that the Apple TV 4K may be coming out at the perfect moment. Apple TV may have plenty of longevity—the earliest models actually preceded the iPhone, reports note—but it was not always an attractive buy. However, the new Apple TV 4K, due out this fall, could be Apple's first home entertainment release that goes mainstream. The new Apple TV 4K is eminently affordable, with a price tag of just $129. But it also releases into a crowded market, as most televisions these days serve as their own streaming app hubs. Two factors could change this for Apple, reports note, as Apple TV+ is proving an increasing success and viewers grow more frustrated with their advertising content. With competitors pushing more and more advertising content on viewers, viewers may want a simpler, less-cluttered experience. For that, they can turn to Apple. Is Apple a Buy, Hold or Sell? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on AAPL stock based on 15 Buys, 10 Holds and three Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 6.2% loss in its share price over the past year, the average AAPL price target of $224.22 per share implies 5.49% upside potential.
