Another of the nine Cincinnati Bearcats who entered the college basketball transfer portal has found a home.
On Friday May 2, 6-foot-8 forward Tyler Betsey committed to Syracuse, posting his plans on Instagram. Betsey played in 34 of UC's 35 games and averaged 3.3 points, shooting 35.7% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range, where 81 of his 112 shots were hoisted.
Tyler Betsey, a 6-foot-8 forward, has departed Cincinnati Bearcats basketball for the Syracuse Orange of the ACC.
Betsey's season-high was nine points against Grambling last Dec. 22. He made two treys in a game eight times, the last being in a home win vs. Utah Feb. 11. He played in every game but the loss to Kansas Jan. 11

Betsey, who played just five minutes in the two games at the College Basketball Crown went into the portal April 8. Like some others, he said he would still consider UC, but in the end, none of the departing Bearcats returned.
Only Betsey's friend, walk-on J.J. Rembert, is uncommitted out of the nine departures. Dan Skillings Jr. is at Baylor, Josh Reed at Penn State, Dillon Mitchell at St. John's, Arrinten Page chose Northwestern, Rayvon Griffith signed with Kent State, Connor Hickman will play at Charleston if he gets a medical waiver and walk-on C.J. Anthony is with Iona.
Cincinnati Bearcats forward Tyler Betsey (14) smiles as he runs out the clock in UC's opening game of his freshman season. Betsey leaves Wes Miller and the Bearcats after one season to go to Syracuse.
UC was 19-16 last season. Syracuse, out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, was 14-19. In his one game against an ACC opponent, Betsey had six points on a pair of treys at Georgia Tech last Nov. 23.

Nebraska offensive lineman Henry Lutovsky excited for season opener at Arrowhead Stadium

Nebraska football offensive lineman Henry Lutovsky is excited to get the 2025 season started, with the opener against the Cincinnati Bearcats a little more than five weeks away. The offensive lineman expressed his excitement for the upcoming season as he spoke at Big Ten media days on Tuesday. His growth and development will be necessary for the offensive line moving forward. The line itself should be a much-improved unit, with the offense looking to take that next step overall. Lutovsky said that he can't wait to see how Nebraska fans take over Arrowhead Stadium, home of the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs, in the season opener. "I was in attendance for the AFC Championship Game and that place was crazy. I can only imagine what it's gonna be like with our fans there." Lutovsky made 11 starts in 12 games last season, after getting his feet wet in 2023. He was able to solidify himself as a mainstay on the offensive line last season, after beginning his collegiate career in 2021. Now, it appears that he is in a position to play a featured role on the offensive line. This is one of the many intriguing subplots that should make for an exciting 2025 season. Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Try it free SAN FRANCISCO — As the Mets monitor the market for potential outfield help, Drew Gilbert's stock is rising as an internal option for a major league role. The 24-year-old Gilbert is surging at Triple-A Syracuse, where he delivered two homers on Friday, giving him six for the month. He owns a 1.126 OPS in July. The Mets view Gilbert as a plus defender in center field — team officials were raving about a catch he made Thursday by racing into the gap — but continued offensive success will be the biggest determining factor in whether he's promoted for the stretch run. 'Drew is doing a tremendous job, and I think to his credit he is probably putting himself on the radar a little bit,' president of baseball operations David Stearns said before the Mets' 8-1 win over the Giants at Oracle Park. 'Offensively and defensively, he's taken a step forward I would say over the last month or two.' A left-handed bat, Gilbert could potentially share center field with Tyrone Taylor, allowing Jeff McNeil to move back to second base full time. 'Offensively, he has put it together,' said a talent evaluator who has watched Gilbert throughout the season. 'He controls the strike zone really well and hits the ball plenty hard. They have got to get him to hit the ball up in the air a little bit more, that's all. He's stronger than he looks.' Drew Gilbert, running a drill during sprint training, hit two home runs for Triple-A Syracuse on July 25, 2025. Corey Sipkin for New York Post Gilbert, who arrived in the 2023 trade that sent Justin Verlander to the Astros, missed much of last season with hamstring injuries. Gilbert has remained healthy this season. He owns an .823 OPS with 14 homers in 314 at-bats overall this season. The Mets optioned reliever Alex Carrillo to Triple-A Syracuse and selected lefty José Castillo to the major league roster. This series against the Giants is the start of a nine-game stretch for the Mets against NL West opponents.
