Lima '25: 27 reports of home damage so far, say police

LANGKAWI: Police have received 27 reports as of yesterday regarding alleged damage to homes, believed to have been caused by shockwaves from aerial displays at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (Lima '25).
Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh gave his assurances that all reports will be thoroughly investigated before being forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
"We have the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to conduct an inspection, and after the inspection and verification are completed, the investigation results will be submitted to the organisers — the Defence Ministry and Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC) — to determine the appropriate category," he said.
He said this at a press conference on security and traffic operations for Lima '25 at the Langkawi police training centre.
At the same time, Fisol expressed hope that all reports were genuine and urged the public not to exploit the situation.
Meanwhile, he said 9,000 parking spaces have been allocated around the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) and 300 spaces at Resorts World Langkawi for visitors attending Lima '25 starting tomorrow.
"The public planning to attend the air and maritime shows tomorrow are advised to arrive early to secure parking. I also understand that 35,000 online tickets have been sold, which is a substantial number," he said.
Fisol also advised the public to use the official Lima '25 e-hailing service, MyCar, as it offers more convenience than driving themselves.
Vehicles with MyCar stickers will not be affected by road closures.
Previously, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin had said the ministry had taken note of the claims of property damage linked to Lima '25 and would not ignore the concerns raised by affected residents.

Stealth bomber over Saratok? Police investigate authenticity of image

Reddit user 'Anubiroz' posted the image, saying it was taken by a friend in the afternoon and showed a shape that looked a bit suspicious 'for a kite or a drone.' KUCHING (July 15): Police are investigating the authenticity of an image claimed to be a Northrop B-2 Spirit stealth bomber aircraft flying over Saratok, said Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie. In a statement today, he said the investigation aims to determine the authenticity of the image, the exact location where it was captured, the identity of the individual who uploaded it, and the intent behind its circulation. 'Initial observations suggest the image resembles a flying B-2 bomber aircraft, although its authenticity has yet to be verified,' he added. He said the Saratok District Police Headquarters (IPD Saratok), in collaboration with other authorities including the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is investigating the possibility of an airspace violation or deliberate dissemination of false information that could incite public alarm. 'The police will not compromise with any party that spreads false information or causes public unease through social media platforms,' he added. Mathew advised the public to refrain from speculating or sharing the image on social media platforms. He added that any action involving the dissemination of false information may be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The police also urged individuals with further information to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Saratok district police chief directly at 012-8854849. The image was posted by Reddit user 'Anubiroz', who said it was taken by a friend in the afternoon and showed a shape that looked a bit suspicious 'for a kite or a drone.' 'Taken by a friend near his long house at Saratok in the afternoon… Zoom in… does it look like a kite or a stealth bomber. He said it made a swish sound.. Hmmmm. Looks kinda sus [sic]for a kite or a drone. Any ideas?' Anubiroz wrote on Reddit. Another user, 'Monsta_Owl', commented that it looked like a 'B2 bomber by the looks of it,' a view echoed by several others in the thread. However, several news outlets have since debunked the claim, citing CAAM's confirmation that there was no record of any flight activity resembling a stealth bomber in the area. Some commenters speculated that the object was likely a miniature remote-controlled (RC) model of the stealth bomber. image Mathew Manggie police Saratok stealth bomber

Police heli crash: Constable still in ICU, four in stable condition

JOHOR BARU: A police constable remains sedated in the intensive care unit (ICU), while four other personnel are reported to be in stable condition following yesterday's helicopter crash near Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah. Constable RG Devendran is being treated at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here after the AS355N police helicopter crashed during a multi-agency simulation held in conjunction with the Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand-Singapore 2025 Nuclear Security Detection Exercise (MITSATOM). Federal police Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said he visited all five injured policemen today and was assured by hospital staff that their conditions were improving. "Only one personnel remains sedated to limit movement and speed up the healing process. "The other four, including Corporal Adline Liu Yan Siu, are conscious and stable," he said outside HSA this afternoon. The police helicopter crashed at about 10am yesterday during a fly-past demonstration. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the AS355N helicopter, registration 9M-PHG, had departed from the Tanjung Kupang Police Air Base at 9.51am with five policemen on board, including the pilot.
