Actress Ruby Lin makes a trip to Singapore, with Vivian Hsu playing tour guide
Despite her celebrity status, Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin has shown she is not shy to strike the classic Merlion pose that is so beloved by tourists when she is in Singapore.
In her June 7 Instagram post, the 49-year-old star and her close friend, Singapore-based Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu, are seen taking a stroll near Marina Bay Sands.
Wearing a white top and denim bottoms, Lin tilts her head backwards and angles herself so that it looks like the stream of water spouting from the iconic sculpture is going into her open mouth.
Other photos capture the pair posing on a bench outside the ArtScience Museum, with Hsu, 50, wrapping her arms around Lin.
In her caption, Lin joked that it was only under her 'tour guide, companion-cum-photographer and dear sister' Hsu's recommendation that she took such 'tourist photos', adding that as long as she is not embarrassed, the embarrassment will be felt only by others.
Hsu, who divorced Singapore-based businessman Sean Lee in 2023, has a nine-year-old son. She revealed in November 2024 that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the beginning of that year, and had undergone surgery to treat the condition.
Lin tied the knot with Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo in 2016, before giving birth to their daughter in 2017. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

Make a ‘Connection' with George Town Festival

So do plan your holiday to Penang for next month as from Aug 2 to 10, GTF 2025 – with the theme 'Connection' – will feature 50 programmes exploring the powerful relationships between the arts, the city and the human experience. These range from music to dance, theatre, photography, visual arts and more. About 80% of the programmes will be offered for free in line with the festival's aim of making the arts accessible to all. GTF director Jack Wong said 32 programmes were homegrown and reflected Malaysia's rich artistic diversity. Of this, 22 are Penang-based. The other 18 are international presentations and include bold new works. He said only seven events would be ticketed, priced between RM40 and RM100. 'GTF 2025 will also have a series of workshops and talks which offer deeper insights into the creative process and give visitors opportunities to engage with the artistes and their works. 'Whether you're a newcomer or long-time follower, you will have a week of unforgettable experiences.' Festivities kick-off with the 'After Dusk' opening weekend on Aug 2 and 3 at the Esplanade, which is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors. The iconic Town Hall will come alive with colours and patterns in a projection mapping showcase while live performances by various local and international acts will start from 5pm. Other highlights include a contemporary performance inspired by the state's natural landscapes called 'Waris', and a tribute exhibition to late cartoonist Azmi Hussin titled 'Living the Tanjong Life'. There will be a 'Symbiosis: Crab Chronicle' which offers a crab's view of Penang's shifting coastlines through augmented reality/virtual reality experiences, as well as 'Between Departures' which turns an actual city bus into an intimate musical stage journeying through George Town. Further cultural exchange is promoted through the 'A Night in Spain' classical music concert in partnership with the Spanish Embassy in Malaysia, as well as the 'Totsu-totsu dance – Like Art, Like Care' dance workshop and performance with Japan's Cultural Affairs Agency. Visitors to six selected events can collect six stamps under the 'Stamp Rally' by local artist Elsie Fun and stand a chance of winning a prize. State tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said GTF had grown into one of the region's most vibrant platforms for artistic expression since its inception in 2010. On Oct 4, singers Tabber, Rad Museum and Miso will be entertaining fans with a one-night show at Zepp Kuala Lumpur. The three respective acts are set to deliver a live experience that captures the emotional depth and immersive artistry that define their music. Founded by fellow R&B singer-songwriter Dean in 2017, is known for its boundary-pushing sound and atmospheric style. Tabber, recognised for his gritty vocals and ability to shift between rapping and singing, rose to prominence with his Deep End Mix Tape in 2020. He has since worked with notable names like Romderful, Punchnello, Apro, Paul Blanco and Yerin Baek. Meanwhile, Rad Museum first made waves with his 2017 debut EP Scene , which earned him nominations for Best New Artiste and Best R&B/Soul Album at the 2018 Korean Music Awards. His 2022 solo album Rad went on to win R&B Album of the Year at the 2023 Korean Hiphop Awards. Rounding out the lineup is Miso – the first Korean artiste to take part in the Red Bull Music Academy. South Korean star Lee Min-ho mourns death of pet dog Choco

Lee shared the sad news on Instagram, posting old photos of himself and Choco. The post also included an image of the dog being laid to rest while wrapped in a blanket and a snap of his remains in an urn beside a framed picture. 'After 16 years with my beloved Choco, he returned to the arms of nature,' the actor wrote. 'I hope you had a happy time, and I am always grateful for your love, Choco.' In 2023, during his Manila visit for a real estate endorsement, Lee mentioned that Choco is now 'very old yet still a very cute dog'. 'We cannot ignore the fact that he's already very old, but he's still cute when I look at him, you know,' he told the Filipino audience at the time. Choco's death comes at a time when Lee is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint , set to premiere this July.
