Mandya: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday said a blueprint for the Cauvery aarti programme would be ready within a week, with plans to start it this Dasara. Addressing a press conference after a meeting with elected representatives and officials on the Cauvery aarti, he said, 'We have formed a committee, led by Minister Chaluvaraya Swamy, to work out the modalities. This committee will prepare the blueprint in the next 8-10 days. We've discussed the broad contours of the aarti with our leaders and officials.'
'The committee includes members from Chescom, the Tourism department, the Muzrai department, two DCs, two local MLAs, MLCs, Zilla Panchayat CEOs, and BWSSB members. Irrigation Department officials will create the necessary infrastructure,' he added. Cauvery Aarti (Puja) is part of the Karnataka government's efforts to promote water conservation.
The dates have not been announced yet. The state government has decided to allocate Rs 92 crore for the Cauvery aarti, with contributions from other departments as well. 'We are creating seating for about 10,000 people. The committee will decide how many days the aarti will be held. Different departments have submitted reports on their respective activities, and we'll incorporate them into the final plan,' he said.
The government has already called for tenders to upgrade Brindavan Gardens at the KRS (Krishna Raja Sagara Dam). 'We've also decided to form a Planning Authority with four panchayats. This won't affect their functioning; the authority will only focus on planning and ensure that the proceeds from the project benefit these panchayats,' he added. Shivakumar said that seven firms have come forward to develop Brindavan Gardens, and discussions are underway.
'We've made it a condition for bidders to prioritise local employment,' he said. Responding to a question about when the Cauvery aarti programme would be launched, he said, 'I'm keen to launch it this Dasara, and we've formed a committee to prepare the blueprint. Let's see how fast the committee submits its plans.'
Asked about the location for the aarti, he said, 'We've inspected potential sites and consulted the technical committee. The location must be close to water, with sufficient space for parking, seating, and accommodations for artists. Boating will also be included. The committee will decide.'
When asked if there would be entry tickets for the event, he said, 'There will be both paid and free entry options. We can't deny entry to poor people, and there will be an option for the public to offer prayers.'
On allegations that the aarti could harm the KRS dam, he said, 'We will discuss this with the organisations opposing it. They may have doubts, and we'll address them.' Regarding concerns over encroachment and pollution of the Cauvery River, he said, 'All dams have been surveyed using drones and marked for maximum levels. The department has been instructed to audit the assets.'

Indian Overseas Bank to raise Rs 4,000 cr this financial year: MD & CEO

Chennai, Jul 18 (PTI) Public sector Indian Overseas Bank has drawn up plans to raise Rs 4,000 crore during this financial year through various instruments, including Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), a top official said on Friday. With the proposed plan to fund raise, the Government of India's shareholding in the Chennai-headquartered bank is expected to come down to 90 per cent from the current 94 per cent, the bank's Managing Director and CEO Ajay Kumar Srivastava said here. 'Last year, we raised about Rs 1,440 crore in March. This year we are looking for about Rs 4,000 crore to raise. For that we are talking to various authorities for their approval," he told reporters after declaring the financial performance of the bank. Asked about the kind of instruments that would be used for the fund raise, he said, 'It will be a mix. Most of it will be through QIP (Qualified Institutional Placements). With this, Government of India shareholding will come down to 90 per cent from 94 per cent." To another query on when the fund raise was expected to occur, Srivastava said, 'We expect it will happen by Q3 end or Q4." Indian Overseas Bank reported a 76 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 1,111 crore during the April-June 2025 quarter. The bank had earned a net profit of Rs 633 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year. Total income of the bank during the June quarter rose to Rs 8,866 crore from Rs 7,568 crore recorded in the same quarter of last financial year. Asked on the drivers for the increase in net profit, he said, the driver is interest income. 'We have been doing quality lending at a healthy rate of interest. So that is one. The net interest income has increased. We have been able to control our expenses to a certain extent and the other income has increased for the bank." he said. 'The third most crucial part is less provisioning requirement and all these factors combined have given 75 per cent increase in net profit", he said. OctaFX India pays ₹32 lakh to settle Sebi forex trading violation case

Forex trading platform OctaFX India on Friday settled with markets regulator Sebi a case related to alleged violation of trading norms on payment of Rs 32 lakh towards settlement amount. Besides, OctaFX India Pvt Ltd (now known as Taunga Pvt Ltd) will not be eligible to apply for any registration with Sebi for five years and will be debarred from buying/ trading in the securities market (directly or indirectly) for a period of 1 year, according to Sebi order. Also, the applicant (Taunga Pvt Ltd) will surrender stock broker registration. The order came after the applicant proposed to settle the pending proceeding without "admitting or denying the findings of fact and conclusions of law", and filed a settlement application in August last year. "It is hereby ordered that the instant proceedings initiated against the applicant vide post enquiry show cause notice dated May 9, 2024 are disposed of," Sebi said in the settlement order. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) advised BSE to examine the matter of OctaFX, which was allegedly carrying out illegal activities by providing an unregulated online trading platform for trading in forex derivatives. Pursuant to that, BSE submitted its report to the regulator on March 14, 2022. The markets watchdog conducted the examination and it was observed that OctaFX India Pvt Ltd, a Sebi-registered stock broker, and its directors were associated with unauthorised forex trading platform Trading App. Sebi also observed that OctaFX suppressed and denied its association with unauthorised forex trading platform and thereby, indirectly promoted the trading platform and that the company had failed to inform either Sebi or BSE that Enforcement Directorate had conducted searches at several of its premises. In July, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had attached assets of OctaFX worth more than Rs 131 crore under the anti-money laundering law in a case against a "fraud" forex-trading platform that has allegedly cheated numerous investors. "These assets belong to Pavel Prozorov, the mastermind behind OctaFX," the federal probe agency said. ED investigation revealed that OctaFX laundered funds by collecting investor money through mule accounts in the names of fake e-commerce firms. The platform is suspected to have generated "proceeds of crime" amounting to Rs 800 crore from its operations in India in just nine months.
