Kai Trump and Charlie Woods endure very different days at South Florida golf tournament

Daily Mail25-06-2025
With two of their parents dating each other, all eyes were on the children of Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump at a junior golf tournament in Florida.
Charlie Woods, Tiger's son, teed off in the 41st edition of the Nicklaus Junior Championship.-
Also teeing off was Kai Trump, the daughter of Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr, and the granddaughter of President Donald Trump.
The two-round tournament wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at the private Tequesta Country Club - located north of the pro golf enclave of Jupiter.
Charlie finished even-par for the tournament with a final round 69 (2-under) to place sixth in a field of 122 boys golfers.
Meanwhile, Kai struggled to a final round score of a 3-over 74, putting her 17-over for the tournament and tied for 21st out of 32 golfers.
Both Charlie and and Kai are in high school - with Kai already committed to play golf at the University of Miami as a part of their Class of 2030.
Charlie, on the other hand, is starting to make a name for himself after a notable win on the junior golf circuit which saw his ranking jump from No. 606 to No. 14.
It's been an eventful year for the Woods family after Tiger went public with his relationship with Vanessa Trump.
That announcement came 10 days after DailyMail.com exclusively broke the news that the golf icon was dating Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife.
Alongside two pictures of the loved-up couple, Woods wrote: 'Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together.
'At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.'
The couple have the blessing of the President, with Trump himself saying he was happy when he learned that they had become an item.
'He told me about it, and I said, 'Tiger, that's good, that's good. I'm very, happy for both.' But they just let them both be happy. Let them both be happy. They're both great,' Trump said.
The relationship has the blessing of the president - Trump paid tribute to the pair of them
'I love Tiger and I love Vanessa. He and I have a very special, very good relationship with Tiger. I played golf with him a couple of times over the last month, and he's a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete.'
Additionally, Tiger's mother, Kultida, passed away in February - a devastating blow as the matriarch of the Woods family died at the age of 80.
'At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.'
Tiger himself has been absent from the course after suffering an injury to his Achilles as he prepared for the Masters back in April. However, he was recently seen without a brace on his knee riding a golf cart while watching Charlie.

La Quinta hotels condemned over new check-in method

A South Florida hotel is under fire after a guest filmed himself interacting at a virtual check-in station with an employee who appeared to be based overseas. The bizarre encounter occurred at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sunrise in Sunrise, Florida, outside Fort Lauderdale, where the male guest found himself checking in to his room via video screen. He shared a short clip on TikTok of his exchange with the smiling receptionist, who is heard speaking with a thick South Asian accent. In a follow-up video, the guest filmed himself checking out and confronting the the same remote worker about the arrangement. After the virtual receptionist asked about his stay, the guest replied: 'It was all good, but I'm not happy - you took my job.' The employee responded awkwardly, saying: 'There are some things we cannot do - we did not take your job.' A spokesperson for La Quinta Inn, which is owned by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, would not confirm or deny to the Daily Mail whether the receptionist was based overseas. 'We are aware of this matter and are actively investigating,' the spokesperson said. 'All La Quinta hotels are independently owned and operated under franchise agreements and required to have a team member at the front desk at all times.' Video of the guest's experience quickly went viral, with critics slamming the hotel over its methods. 'Outsourcing front desk agent is WILD,' one viewer commented. 'This is getting wayyy out of hand. This is 100 percent absurd,' another wrote. 'Florida says they're pro-American but outsourcing everything,' a third pointed out. 'At least it's still a human. Wait till you hear: 'Hi, I'm Sam, your friendly neighborhood AI chatbot,' one person commented. 'I think we can all agree that speaking to an upbeat Indian man ready to provide tech support is more pleasant than a rude woman at the front desk,' another wrote. 'They are in a different time zone. Maybe it's hard to find workers willing to do graveyard shifts? Not saying this is ok, just trying to decipher the "why,"' a third added.

Hulk Hogan 'begged for forgiveness' in tearful final conversation with daughter Brooke before his death at 71

In the days before his passing from a heart attack at age 71, WWE superstar Hulk Hogan was able to reconcile with his estranged daughter, Brooke. After years of no contact between the father and daughter, the 37-year-old Brooke was able to reach out to her dad. According to the National Enquirer, the two shared a short but heartfelt conversation on July 25. Five days later, Hogan passed away at his home in Florida. 'It was a tearful conversation, albeit a short one,' an insider told the outlet. 'Brooke told her dad how much she loved him, how much she missed him. Hulk said he loved her, and he was sorry. 'That was huge for Brooke to hear. Everyone knew how stubborn Hulk could be, but his fading health obviously softened him up. He knew he was dying and begged her forgiveness.' Five days after the news of Hogan's death was announced, Brooke posted a long message on Instagram clarifying their relationship. 'My father and I never 'fought,' she wrote. 'It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand.' Brooke revealed she had felt her father starting to pull away - saying he no longer wanted support or advice from her, despite his health issues. Hogan revealed he had 25 surgeries in the last decade - including 10 back operations, replacements on his knee and hip, and procedures on both shoulders. 'We'd been through almost 25 surgeries together, and all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries,' Brooke said. 'But even when they weren't speaking, she cared about him and worried about him,' a source told the outlet. 'The important thing is, when he passed away, they were okay again.' 'Brooke can't help the current state her family is in right now, but she can go on knowing her dad loved her and there was peace between them before he died.'

Trump praises Sydney Sweeney's ad campaign and criticises Taylor Swift

President Trump has praised Sydney Sweeney for starring in the 'hottest' commercial and said 'being woke is for losers' after the actress was identified as a registered Republican in Florida. Sweeney, 27, is the poster girl for an American Eagle jeans campaign that has sparked days of debate about traditional beauty standards. Trump compared the advertising campaign favourably with the recent Jaguar rebrand, which he described as a 'seriously woke advertisement' and a 'total disaster'. 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'hottest' ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying of the shelves'. Go get 'em Sydney!' Trump wrote on Truth Social. In the same post, Trump also criticised the 'woke singer' Taylor Swift, having previously clashed with the 35-year-old when she endorsed Kamala Harris at last year's election. He said: 'Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can't stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!' A public database in Florida's Monroe county shows Sweeney, who has starred in the TV series Euphoria, The White Lotus and the romcom Anyone But You, was registered there as a Republican voter last June, only weeks after Trump was convicted in New York of criminal falsification of business records in the run-up to last year's election. Her registration was discovered by a YouTuber who said she came across it while putting together a profile of Sweeney. • The campaign features a reclining Sweeney, raising her midriff to zip up her jeans while declaring that 'genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality and even eye colour'. Turning to stare into the camera, she says: 'My jeans are blue.' This and other advertising spots featuring the same pun were received in some corners of the internet as a 'eugenicist dog-whistle' implying the genes of a blonde, white woman were superior to others'. This, in turn, was seized on by conservative commentators as proof of extremism on the American left. Stephen Cheung, the White House communications director, called it 'cancel culture run amok' and added: 'This warped, moronic and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024. They're tired of this bullshit.' On the conservative podcast Ruthless, JD Vance, the vice-president, said his 'advice' to Democrats would be 'continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive a Nazi'. He added: 'You have a normal, all-American, beautiful girl doing, like, a normal jeans ad … and they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing.' MARIO ANZUONI/REUTERS Informed of Sweeney's party affiliation as he flew back to Washington from New Jersey on board Air Force One on Sunday night, Trump said that 'you'd be surprised at how many people are Republican'. He added: 'I'm glad you told me that. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.' The podcaster Megyn Kelly claimed the advertisement marked a turning point in the presentation of beauty. 'We have been suffering with the elevation of homely people in our fashion ads and our fitness ads for years now and we are over it,' she said. 'We miss attractive people. We are sick of trying to pretend that these objectively unattractive people are the new beauty standard. They are not.' The campaign has generated controversy but American Eagle insists there is no political subtext American Eagle said the advertisement was simply about jeans, saying: 'Great jeans look good on everyone.' • Aliza Licht: Sydney Sweeney ad proves brands can be sexy again Sweeney has not responded to the controversy. It is not the first time she has become the apparently unwitting focus of an argument about her political affiliation. In 2022 she threw a party for her mother's 60th birthday in which guests wore red caps mimicking Trump's Maga slogan, bearing the legend: 'Make Sixty Great Again.' Photographs of the party showed some guests apparently wearing 'Blue Lives Matter' outfits, referencing the backlash against protests over police brutality in 2020. In a post on X Sweeney complained that 'an innocent celebration for my mom's milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention'. The following year she told Variety that there had been 'so many misinterpretations' about the party. 'The people in the pictures weren't even my family,' she said. 'The people who brought the things that people were upset about were actually my mom's friends from LA who have kids that are walking outside in the Pride parade, and they thought it would be funny to wear because they were coming to Idaho.'
