Man steals exotic birds worth Rs 16 lakh to fund marriage, caught by Ahmedabad police
He planned the theft after seeing social media posts on the shop's birds, but his criminal past and the car he used in the heist led the cops straight to his door.
Tipped off, Ahmedabad Rural police arrested Bishal Yadav, a native of Bihar, for the high-value theft and recovered the birds. SP (Ahmedabad Rural) Om Prakash Jat said, "Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He said that he learnt about the valuable birds and shop through social media reels.
After checking out the shop and the birds, he and his two accomplices executed the theft. We have recovered 11 rare parrots and other stolen items.

The theft occurred around 3am on Tuesday at a pet store in Top N Town Complex on Sarkhej Road. The complainant, shop owner Akif Shaikh, reported that the thieves stole 11 exotic birds, including three blue gold macaws, a green wing macaw, a Moluccan cockatoo white, a galerita cockatoo white, an umbrella cockatoo white, two African grey parrots, and two eclectus parrots, along with Rs 24,000 cash and other goods.

Inspector R N Karmatiya, who led the investigation, said that Yadav is a habitual offender and was involved in the theft of goats in Nadiad, Petlad, and Bharuch. "Yadav visited the shop in June and found out the value of each bird. He then waited nearly three weeks for old CCTV footage to auto-delete before committing the crime. Yadav also mortgaged his house in Bihar to purchase the car used in the theft and promised his accomplices, Bittu and Bikha, Rs 15,000 each for their role.

JAIPUR: Prakash Chandra Joshi, a 61-year-old Jaipur resident and General Manager at a cement factory in Mali, West Africa, was kidnapped on July 1 by armed assailants along with three other Indian nationals. Joshi had joined the Diamond Cement Factory in Mali just weeks earlier, on June 5. The incident is suspected to be linked to Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group that claimed responsibility for multiple attacks across Mali on the same day. Joshi's wife, Suman, spoke to the media and recounted the last conversation she had with her husband. 'He had joined the factory as General Manager on June 5. I last spoke to him on June 30. He told us he wasn't feeling well. We asked him to resign and return home,' she said. After June 30, Joshi's phone became unreachable. 'We initially thought it might be a network or electricity issue – which is common in African countries. But on July 2, our daughter received a call from the company's HR informing us that he had been kidnapped. We were shocked. How could we have imagined something like this?' Suman added. According to the family, Joshi had gone to the factory for his assignments on the morning of July 1 when the attack occurred. 'Hundreds of armed men stormed the factory, opened fire, and set parts of it on fire. In the chaos, they abducted three people. They left in the car provided to Papa by the company,' said a family member.

Theft bid at Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank in Palamu foiled
1 2 Daltonganj: Town police foiled a theft attempt at the Belwatika branch of the Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said. The officer in-charge of the town police outpost, Rakesh Kumar Singh, said, "Police got a call about suspected movement of people near the branch around 12:30 am on Sunday. Tiger mobile cops reached the site but the thieves had fled. " A gas cutting cylinder, an oxygen cylinder, screwdrivers and wrenches were seized, police added. OC Singh said, "A family that lives in the area rang the branch manager when the CCTV cameras sounded alarms. The branch manager called the police." Sources said Rs 10 lakh was stolen from this branch a week before the Vidhan Sabha polls. The then bank official had left the keys for the chest on the table. A case was lodged with the town police in November 2024. It remains unsolved. Sadar SDPO Mani Bhushan Prasad said, "The case is being probed."

Delhi Police cracks down on notorious day burglar gang, recovers 53 stolen phone
New Delhi [India], July 13 (ANI): The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime in the city. A dangerous day burglar gang has been smashed, and two individuals, including a major burglar, have been apprehended. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police apprehended two accused, including a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) and a 22-year-old identified as Aftab alias Sukha, from the Sector 10/11 area near Japanese Park in Rohini. 53 high-end phones were recovered from the possession of the accused, along with house-breaking tools were seized from the accused, indicating their involvement in various crimes. According to a Delhi Police, both apprehended were found to be involved in several cases of burglary, phone theft & other similar offences. The arrests were made by a team from Northern Range-I of the Crime Branch under Sections 35(1)(c) and 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). During interrogation, the duo confessed to carrying out several thefts and break-ins in areas including Chirag Delhi, Saket, Mehrauli, and Dwarka. Acting on their disclosures, police recovered 53 high-end mobile phones from their possession. So far, 30 of these devices have been linked to First Information Reports (FIRs), eFIRs, and lost phone reports registered across Delhi NCR. The Crime Branch has successfully busted six cases of day burglary and phone theft, bringing relief to the gang would target unsuspecting victims, snatching their phones and other valuables during the day. The Crime Branch is conducting further investigation to identify other members of the gang and uncover their involvement in other crimes. Meanwhile, two minors were apprehended in connection with a firing incident in Delhi's Mukundpur area on Thursday, after they allegedly demanded extortion money from a local woman and opened fire when she refused to pay, an official said on Friday. According to Delhi Police, a PCR call was received at Bhalswa Dairy police station around 10:40 PM on July 10 regarding gunshots fired in the Mukundpur locality. 'On 10 July at around 10:40 PM, a PCR call was received at PS Bhalswa Dairy about reporting a firing incident in the Mukundpur area, on the statement of Heera Devi (45) resident of Mukundpur in which complainant alleged that two minors came to her house and demanded extortion money of Rs 30,000/- per month and when she refused to pay the extortion one of them fired two round towards her house and one of the bullet hit her daughter Nisha (18) on her upper left arm,' Police said in a statement. A search operation was launched, and both assailants, aged 17 and 15, were traced to DDA Flats, JJ Colony, Bhalswa Dairy with the help of secret information, local intelligence, and technical surveillance. A country-made pistol and one live 7.65 mm cartridge were recovered at the instance of one of the minors, the official said. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 17-year-old accused was previously involved in murder and robbery cases. During interrogation, he confessed that he, along with two others, Vivek alias Tilla and Shivchandan alias Pandit, had committed the murder of Amit alias Langda in September 2024. All three were arrested in connection with that case. The accused further disclosed that Vivek alias Tilla had received a phone call from Shivchandan alias Pandit, who is currently lodged in jail. Pandit allegedly instructed Tilla to collect a monthly extortion of Rs 30,000 from Heera Devi and to open fire if she refused. Tilla then directed the 17-year-old to execute the plan, identifying him as a CCL (Child in Conflict with Law). The weapon of offence, a country-made pistol, along with one live 7.65 mm cartridge, was recovered at the instance of the Child in Conflict with Law (CCL). Both the CCLs have been apprehended as per law, and Sections 308(4) & 61(2) BNS have also been added to the case. Further investigation is going on. (ANI)
