WITH our wedding less than a year and a half away, my fiancé Ryan and I decided to take a break from all the stressful planning and treat ourselves to a quick week in the sun.
However, we didn't for one second imagine we'd be able to enjoy a luxurious, out-of-this-world holiday, not while saving for our honeymoon.

But when we saw the chance to stay at Rixos Radamis for a week — a five-star, all-inclusive hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh that looks more like a grand Egyptian palace than a resort — we jumped at it.
Imagine everything your dream holiday could have, and then times it by a thousand, and you might just come close to what this incredible resort has to offer.
In fact, calling it a 'resort' doesn't do it justice. It's more of a magnificent little island all on its own, tucked away inside the Nabq Bay area of this popular Red Sea destination.
Once inside its hallowed walls, it was easy to forget the rest of the world actually existed.
The second we arrived, we knew we were in for something special.
From the outside, everything exuded luxury, and inside the massive lobby with its marble floors and gold chandeliers, we knew that we were where the other half holiday.
Rixos has five hotels in Sharm El-Sheikh, but I would struggle to believe anyone who didn't agree that the Radamis tops them all.
It's split into three large areas, first, there's Tirana, which is perfect for families with children, with its brightly coloured themed rooms.
Then there's the Blue Planet section, which more caters to couples and adult groups.
And finally, there is the brand new Beach area, which is where we stayed. In fact, it's so new, it was blissfully and peacefully quiet. But I doubt it will stay that way for long!
Mystery new 'city' found underneath Egypt's Pyramids stretching 6,500ft BELOW surface in shock discovery, scientists say
After a long day of travelling, we just wanted to get straight to our room, have a sleep and wake up ready for a week of bliss.
Talking of which, the room was MASSIVE! It had a super comfy, king-size bed and a huge bathroom with a walk-in style shower and two large sinks, so no more fighting when getting ready at night.
But it was the huge balcony that overlooked the beach and sea that stole my heart.

The grounds leading down to the stunning beach
They weren't joking when they called it the 'beach' area — the golden sand and crystal blue waters really were the star of the show. Directly below us was the pool, and over to the left we could see the Red Sea stretch for miles.
The next morning we woke up super excited to start our holiday proper.
There was so much to explore in the resort with three pools, 15 restaurants, five bars and three lounges. And being all-inclusive, you needn't worry about any huge bills to shock you on checkout.
Although it was impossible to sample everything in just seven days, we sure gave it our best shot!
We both love our grub, so we headed to the People's restaurant on the beach to grab some lunch from the buffet and loved it so much we went back every single day!
After satisfying our hunger, we had a quick tour of the place in a little buggy, which left our heads spinning. The place is huge.
To give you an idea, to get from our room to the main Blue Planet area, we had to get a bus!
But after lying at the pool all afternoon and changing quickly into our glam evening outfits, we found that the buses arrived every few minutes, and before we knew it, we were in the heart of the action.
I've never been someone who is all that keen on hotel entertainment, but Rixos Radamis takes theirs to a whole new level!
There's a massive stadium in the middle of the resort where we were treated to an incredible Madonna show, where talented dancers recreated the pop sensation's music videos as we sipped delicious cocktails well into the night.
Music is a huge part of Rixos Radamis, and workers have actually just finished building a new second arena that fits 6,000 people right in time for superstar Enrique Iglesias, who performed on May 3.

And global music star Jennifer Lopez is set to perform at the hotel in July

And it will definitely be full when Jennifer Lopez comes to perform on July 4 — I told you this is where the rich and famous holiday.
For most of the week, we enjoyed nights of dancing and drinking, before heading back to our room to enjoy some of the best sleeps we've ever had abroad.
Days were spent either relaxing at the glorious pool or on the gorgeous beach, topping up our tan and sipping drinks.
And whenever we weren't watching a show in the evening, we were in the hotel's lively and friendly Irish Bar where Ryan watched some football matches and I sipped even more delicious cocktails.
But the one thing that was even more delicious than the drinks was the mouth-watering food.
My, oh my, every single meal we had was absolutely divine.
Every restaurant offers five-star service. We were particularly fond of our dinners at the Mexican restaurant Cactus and Rasam, which serves Indian cuisine.
GO: SHARM EL-SHEIKH
GETTING/STAYING THERE: A week all-inclusive at the 5H Rixos Radamis is from £1,378pp leaving Glasgow on June 12. See tui.co.uk.
MORE INFO: For more on the Rixos hotels in Sharm El-Sheikh see rixos.com.
But the one that topped the lot was The Mangal, which offers a very special culinary experience.
Here we feasted on incredible BBQ food served by our own private chef as we watched the sun set over the beach. Life just doesn't get any better.
There are so many highlights from our time in Rixos Radamis that it's hard to list them all, but what I will say is make sure you book a Cabana with a jacuzzi for a special treat.
We had one glorious day in one, where we were served cocktails by the amazing staff as we looked out at the sea from our jacuzzi under the scorching sunshine — absolute heaven.

The soon-to-be-weds enjoyed a romantic gondola ride along the resort's lagoon

And one standout memory just has to be our incredible gondola ride.
That's right, there's a gondola that glides up a gorgeous river-like lagoon in the middle of the 'Beach' section, surrounded by hanging twinkling lights while you are serenaded with beautiful, soft harp music.
It was one of the most romantic experiences of my life, and I'll carry that moment with me forever.
Our holiday to Rixos Radamis was one of the best of our lives — it had everything we could dream of and more.
If our honeymoon is half as special, spectacular and unforgettable, I will be over the moon.

Three Scots cities named among UK's top ten staycation spots

Read on for the full list of all 20 best staycation spots in the UK Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THREE Scottish cities have been named among the best ten staycation spots across the UK. With abroad holidays becoming increasingly more expensive year after year, it's no wonder that families across Britain are choosing to go on staycations instead. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 More and more families are choosing to go on staycations over abroad trips Credit: Getty So, in a bid to help, experts have compiled a list of the best places in the UK for those who don't want to go abroad for their summer holiday destination. And the best bit is they are perfect for people who are looking to avoid the crowds this summer. The new research, conducted by experts at Chicks Gold, scored UK locations out of 100 based on several factors. This included the cost of eating out, the average price of a local Airbnb, and transport costs in and around each town or city. The number of attractions in each area and the number of restaurants per 10,000 people were also taken into account. They then used this data to compile a list of the best ten locations, and three Scottish cities ranked high in the list. Staycations provide a stress-free alternative for those looking to simply relax on their summer holidays Al Alof Scotland is home to a number of wonderful places with gorgeous landscapes that are steeped in history - so it's no surprise that many receive nationwide attention. The top three staycation spots were all awarded to English cities, with Oxford coming in first with a score of 93.60. Coming in at a close second was York, which ended up with a score of 92.80. Rounding out the top three locations is Cambridge, which received a score of 91.40. I found the best staycation in Ireland with private pod, our own hot tub and alpacas and deer on site The first Scottish entry on the list is Aberdeen, and it comes in seventh place with an impressive score of 87.50. Dundee followed very closely behind in the eighth spot in the rankings after receiving a score of 87.40. Edinburgh came in last in the top ten staycation spots with a score of 85.70. Al Alof, the CEO of Chicks Gold, said: 'Thanks to the recent protests across Europe, some Brits may be feeling overwhelmed at the thought of navigating through the crowds of certain European hotspots this summer. "With Europe bracing for an unprecedented tourism boom this summer, it's likely that staycations will become a popular alternative over the next few months. 'While Brits aren't advised to cancel any holiday plans amid growing anti-tourism protests, it's important for travellers to consider whether there are any more viable options available rather than rushing to tourist hotspots. Full list of 20 best staycation spots in the UK Rank. Area - Staycation Score /100 Oxford - 93.60 York - 92.80 Cambridge - 91.40 Guildford - 90.10 Nottingham - 88.30 Brighton - 87.60 Aberdeen - 87.50 Dundee - 87.40 Newcastle upon Tyne - 87.10 Edinburgh - 85.70 Bournemouth - 85.30 Reading - 85.10 Exeter - 84 Kingston upon Hull - 83.79 Norwich - 83.64 Glasgow - 83.08 Derby - 82.98 Liverpool - 82.48 Milton Keynes - 82.22 Leicester - 81.46 "This is why staycations provide a stress-free alternative for those looking to simply relax on their summer holidays. 'This study highlights that the UK certainly isn't short of top staycation destinations. "And they offer both affordability and endless attractions. "Staycations are rapidly becoming one of the most appealing options for UK travellers, because of both cost and convenience. "So, if you're looking to escape from the crowds and travel stress this summer, then don't underestimate the benefits of staying local.'

Inside multi-million pound upgrade for popular Scots tourist attraction

New master plans have revealed what is in store for the future of the 800-year-old castle Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A POPULAR Scottish tourist attraction is set for a multi-million pound revamp - and visitors will love it. Plans to renovate Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire have been unveiled, and it will see the A-listed attraction completely transformed. The 13th-century castle has a jaw-dropping 123-acre garden and estate and was taken over by the National Trust for Scotland back in 1984. And now, new master plans have revealed what is in store for the future of the 800-year-old castle. According to the Press and Journal, the works will be carried out in phases, and the first phase is set to see 'essential' conversation work carried out on the castle. The works will also look at some 'critical issues' in the castle, including decay of carved stonework. It will also see the B-listed 'at-risk' Old Home Farm complex, which sits inside the estate grounds, fixed and transformed into a welcoming new hub. Through this masterplan, we are taking the castle, gardens and grounds into their next era John Brown Drawings have revealed plans for an incredible new visitor hub, complete with a cafe, to be created. There is also expected to be a brand-new exhibition, as well as a conference, retail, skills and workshop spaces. After all the conservation efforts are carried out, it is expected that the public will be able to access different parts of the building for the first time. This includes seeing rooms and areas like the Victorian stables, as well as other never-seen-before artefacts. Mystery castle built in lake…but no one knows who owns it or how it was built The first phase is expected to be completed by 2027 and will cost around £5million. However, the full renovation and revamp project is thought to take around a decade to complete. And it means that a major 'international' fundraising effort will be required to pull it all together. Steeped in history FYVIE Castle, a remarkable fortress located near Oldmeldrum and Turriff, is one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks. It has been home to notable historical figures, including William the Lion, Robert the Bruce, and Charles I. It is also steeped in folklore, making it a fascinating workplace for those with an interest in Scottish history. The castle, which boasts nearly nine centuries of history, has become a sought-after venue for weddings and corporate events. Renowned for its opulent interiors, ornate ceilings, and world-famous art collection, the castle provides a truly magical setting for celebrations and gatherings. Park director John Brown told the Press and Journal: 'We are delighted to have been selected by the National Trust for Scotland to design the strategic masterplan for Fyvie Estate and develop the conservation proposals for Fyvie Castle. 'At its heart is an exploration of the joyful spirit of Fyvie'. National Trust for Scotland (NTS) chief executive Phil Long added: 'Through this masterplan, we are taking the castle, gardens and grounds into their next era. 'We will be conserving them for future generations and making them more accessible and engaging to all, under our care for the benefit of the nation.' 6 Artist's impression of Old Home Farm at Fyvie Castle and Estate Credit: Park architects 6 Artist's impression of Stables Courtyard at Old Home Farm Credit: Park architects
