BYU Basketball Offers No. 1 Recruit in the 2027 Class on Father's Day
At midnight on Father's Day, BYU took the opportunity to offer top recruit Baba Oladotun. It was the first hour college basketball coaches were permitted to start contacting recruits in the 2027 recruiting class.
The five-star, 6-foot-10 phenom has made his way in many NBA circles. He was introduced to several general managers, executives and scouts at the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp in Colorado Springs, Colorado last October. He's the nation's top ranked player for a reason and shares many similarities to AJ Dybantsa.

Oladotun, a junior at Maryland's Blake High, has a high shot release and true athleticism. His unique skill set for a young player with a rare talent and drive have some comparing him to Kevin Durant. BYU and head coach Kevin Young have definitely turned heads by pulling in top talent. The Cougars signed the nation's top recruit in Dybansta out of the 2025 recruiting class. He's part of a top lineup that has been getting national attention.

BYU is hoping that a successful season could put them on the map as an emerging basketball powerhouse. After Egor Demin's successful true freshman season in Provo, they're hoping Dybansta can solidify his status as the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

"In a recent interview, I shared that the opportunity to fight at the White House gave me something deeper to fight for, a 'why' that goes beyond paychecks or belts. "I obviously feel bad for Tom that he lost all that time and money, but we'll make it up to him," White added. "Tom Aspinall is a good guy. He's been incredible through this whole process that we've gone through. He's been willing to do anything – fight him anywhere at any time and do this. Now he's like, 'I'll fight anybody. Tell me who and I'll fight him.' Aspinall has been great. He's going to be a great heavyweight champion for us and I'm excited to work with him." On that same night, news broke that Jones had been charged in Albuquerque on a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident in February. In July, authorities added the charge of 'Use of Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy or Offend,' related to that incident. This is not the first time White has expressed reluctance in using Jones in a UFC main event. 'I don't (trust him), no. I don't. In my opinion, I would never take the risk of headlining a show with Jon Jones again," White said in 2016. "I'd put him on the card, but I wouldn't headline with him until he consistently gets back on track. Millions of dollars are spent on this. For a card to fall apart, and how many cards have fallen apart because Jon Jones gets in trouble for something? So no, I'm not at that place with him.' The UFC booked Jones in seven main events after White made those claims.

MIAMI — Kris Bubic pitched five shutout innings, Salvador Perez homered and doubled and the Kansas City Royals beat Miami 7-4 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep and end the Marlins' winning streak at four. Bubic (8-6) gave up three hits and a walk. Andrew Hoffmann came on in the ninth and gave up four runs — none earned — in two-thirds of an inning before Carlos Estévez got the final out for his 26th save. CHICAGO (AP) — Wilyer Abreu homered twice and drove in three runs, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago Cubs 6-1 on Sunday to avoid a series sweep. Alex Bregman also connected as Boston rallied after managing just one run in its first two games after the All-Star break. Garrett Crochet (11-4) pitched six effective innings in his fourth consecutive win. The Red Sox went ahead to stay when Trevor Story opened the seventh with a walk and Abreu hit a drive to right-center off Ryan Pressly (2-3) for his 19th homer. Bregman broke it open with a pinch-hit shot off Drew Pomeranz for a three-run homer in the eighth. Abreu tacked on a two-out solo drive against Ethan Roberts.
