'Best meme from that kiss cam moment? 'Coldplay haven't released any singles for ages, but they created two last night'.' We thank George Zivkovic of Northmead.
'Byron by name, Byron by nature?' proffers Phil Haberland of Claremont (WA). 'I'm sure the romantic poet is raising a glass of Chianti somewhere in the universe, in honour of CEO Andy Byron. The sound of the famous club-foot beating its exit along a wooden corridor, from yet another cuckolded British Lord or Italian Count's mansion, echoes down the ages.'
Janice Creenaune of Austinmer likes My First Affair, the Lego re-enactment, and notes that 'one comment rang out true. 'Their spouses were shocked when they finally put it together'.'
'Last Thursday night at racetracks in NSW and Victoria, four Race 8s saw winning No. 8s,' reports Gregory Abbott of Macleay Island (Qld). 'Odd eight balls or had C8 gone to the dogs? Yes, I know – I ate it all up.'
Mike Parton of Tamworth explains that the 'antimacassar [C8], used to avoid staining of seating by 'hair oil of choice', is quite specifically anti-Macassar oil. Hence, the name. I grew up with and am still making use of antimacassars.' David Rose of Nollamara (WA) says, 'My 20-year-old step-daughter received a pack of them in an office 'secret Santa'. Not impressed at all.'
Failure to indicate (C8) 'has nothing to do with the brand or country of origin of vehicle but everything to do with the nuts holding the steering wheel', declares Don Nealon of Taree, but if it bothers drivers that much, he points to his 'much beloved father-in-law, who changed cars often, his last being a fully imported Ford Escort. Alas, the indicators were arse-about. Nothing loth, he removed the steering wheel and reversed the positions of the indicator and light-switch stalks. Back went the wheel and Bob's your uncle. It worked. He was chuffed. However, the battery kept going flat every few weeks. Wonder why?'
'I've owned several Volvos,' says Duncan McRobert of Hawks Nest. 'As a safety feature, the earlier ones had 'day running lights'. This, of course, added fuel to perceived prejudice against Volvo drivers and resulted in the constant flashing of lights by other drivers. I often wondered if this was just a reminder that I left the lights on, or that I was merely another Volvo-driving wanker. Incidentally, I never wore a hat.'

Charli XCX's leftover wedding cake boxed up for fan

Charli XCX's leftover wedding cake was boxed up for a fan. The 32-year-old musician, born Charlotte Aitchison, married her long-term partner George Daniel, 34, over the weekend in an intimate ceremony held at Hackney Town Hall in east London, with the couple tying the knot in front of their parents and a small circle of close friends. Following the ceremony, Charli and George held a wedding dinner at the Italian restaurant Dalla, joined by around 20 guests, before continuing celebrations at a local bar. During the reception, a cake by Violet Cakes — the London bakery founded by Claire Ptak — was served, which featured white icing and was topped with a fig. A fan called Ruby said her friend, who worked as a waiter at Dalla on the night of the wedding, contacted her the following day to offer her a slice. She said in a video posted on her TikTok: 'He was like, 'Oh, do you want to swing by and get a slice?' He boxed up a slice for me. 'Then I think it was the owner of the restaurant that was like, 'Do you just want it? It's going to go in the bin.'' Ruby added: 'I swear I'm not a stalker,' while claiming she hadn't expected to receive more than a small portion, let alone the remaining wedding cake. After tasting it, she described the dessert as 'lovely'. Ruby also said she considered sharing the cake with other fans rather than selling it. 'My friends told me I could make some money and sell the cake to fans,' she said – adding: 'But that felt wrong.' She instead saved some extra slices for her friends, all of whom are fans of Charli. Online commenters expressed a mix of awe and confusion over her clip. One wrote: 'Imagine just sitting in your house eating Mr and Mrs XCX's wedding cake on a random day.' Another said: 'This is so weird but so iconic at the same time.' Some questioned whether Ruby should have accepted the cake at all. 'What if she wants it back?' asked one user. 'Is this considered theft?' wrote another, with a third commenting: 'This doesn't sit right with me.' Others defended Ruby and the restaurant's actions. One person said: 'Guys, as someone who also works at a restaurant, it is very common that people don't want to take the rest of their wedding cake home with them and then everyone in the kitchen gets to chow down on it. It's really not weird.' Another added: 'I used to spend my summers working as a cater waiter – have eaten many strangers' wedding cakes in my time.'

Perth chef reveals secret to perfecting Asian bbq staple

Chef Alex De Leon of Miss Mi in the CBD grew up among the fresh aromatics of Philippino street food, and is on a mission to replicate authentic South East Asian flavours in Perth. Moving to Australia in 2006, Chef Alex has worked in some of the city's most prestigious kitchens, including Low Key Chow House, and Apple Daily. He even spent years cooking Italian food before returning to his roots, now specialising in wowing locals with his skill on the Asian grill. With one of his personal favourite dishes the humble Gai Yang chicken skewer, a Thai classic, Chef Alex has offered tips for preparing the most succulent version of dish at home. To begin, he 'pounds and grinds' a variety of sauces and spices to properly infuse them into a paste before marinating his chicken thighs, cutting them into generously sized pieces. It needs at least four hours, ideally overnight, to absorb the flavours,' he told PerthNow. As to the optimum number of pieces to affix to one stick, well, that depends on how loudly your stomach rumbles. The flavour master says five pieces might be considered a snack back home, but 'it depends on the appetite'. One step people often get wrong is the grill's heat, believing a maximum heat is required to form a crisp skin. He said, often, 'The flame is too high, because high heat burns the outside while leaving the inside uncooked. Especially if using bony pieces'. Finally, don't forget to continue to baste it with a brush each time the chicken is turned to ensure the moisture is not lost. And serve with a fresh salad, of course. Led by Chef Alex, Miss Mi, in the Novotel Perth Murray Street, prides itself on merging near and far worlds through locally sourced ingredients. But don't even think about calling it 'Asian Fusion'. 'There is no 'Asian fusion' or muddling going on here. Something much more special is afoot,' his restaurant's website reads.

Morgan Wallen's cheeky on-stage dig after Coldplay kiss cam scandal: ‘Side chick'

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music Tours. Followed categories will be added to My News. Country star Morgan Wallen has made a cheeky reference to the recent Coldplay kiss cam scandal during his most recent show. The Last Night singer took the stage in Arizona over the weekend, where he referenced the viral footage of married Astronomer CEO Andy Byron being caught in an intimate embrace with his HR chief, Kristin Cabot. 'Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you're safe here,' Wallen, 32, told the audience, per video shared online. 'I don't condone cheating … anymore.' X Learn More SUBSCRIBER ONLY The 'affair' scandal erupted following Coldplay's concert in Boston last Wednesday, during which a kisscam scanned different couples in the audience, projecting them on the big screen. When the camera focused on the corporate suite, Byron was seen with his arms wrapped tightly around Cabot – but it was what happened next that saw the moment become global news (and spark endless memes). Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were caught canoodling on the kisscam at a Coldplay concert in Boston. Picture: TikTok The footage went viral. Picture: TikTok The loved-up pair, noticing the camera, appeared horrified and tried to hide from view, prompting frontman Chris Martin to joke: 'Whoa, look at these two. Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Martin joked they were having an 'affair' when they popped up on the jumbotron. Picture: TikTok Footage captured by fans in the crowd then surfaced online, with internet sleuths quickly discovering the identities of the pair – and the fact they both appear to be married to other people. Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly removed his last name from her Facebook page shortly after the scandal went public, and later deleted her account entirely. On Saturday, and following news it had launched an investigation, Astronomer announced that Byron had resigned from his position.
