Charity shop worker floored after receiving unusual donation 'worth thousands'
Charity shops are a great place to find bargains, and lots of thrifty shoppers love to share their hauls on social media. However, volunteers in the industry also like to show off some of the incredible donations they receive.
One charity shop worker, Bella, was left gobsmacked by the size and value of a generous contribution from a member of the public. Unable to hide her shock, the volunteer admitted on TikTok: "This father and son just walked into my work and donated their grandma's whole Barbie collection since she passed away." Bella revealed that her video didn't show "even half" of the dolls the shop received.
"She had her own collectors' encyclopaedia which was marked up with tabs of which ones she had," Bella added of the huge collection.
Recording footage in the shop, Bella began by offering a glimpse of dozens of vintage boxed Barbie dolls, many of which appeared to be still sealed. From a Coca Cola edition of Soda Fountain Sweetheart Barbie from 1996 to the Sentimental Valentine Barbie from the same year, each item was in pristine condition, complete with accessories.
A third 1996 edition followed in the form of Barbie at Bloomindales, as well as a Graduation Barbie from the year after.
Next, Bella revealed an Avon exclusive collaboration with Mattel in the form of Winter Rhapsody Barbie (also 1996) as well as a number of other Special Occasion dolls from the same decade.
Collaborations with American retailers Target and Chuck E. Cheese were documented next, along with earlier 1990s editions of Enchanted Evening Barbie and Got Milk Barbie.
Bella was far from finished, however, providing her followers with a peek of countless more Barbie dolls - notably Holiday Memories Barbie, Barbie as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Oreo Fun Barbie and Baywatch Barbie.
The video viral, amassing more than 1.1million views at the time of writing and leaving some Barbie fans in awe - while others pointed out a rather tragic observation. "This collection was supposed to be handed down to a granddaughter or daughter, this is so wrong," expressed one TikTok user.
A second concurred: "As time passes and their grief settles, I'm sure they'll regret doing that."
A third person vented: "This makes me so sad. It feels like these were a reflection of all the women she could have been if she hadn't been stuck raising an ungrateful family."
Meanwhile a fourth TikTok user aptly pointed out: "This is exactly the message the Barbie Movie was trying to get across. They're just Ken's, they don't understand!"
Responding more positively, meanwhile, one individual remarked: "How nice that they donated these though, and didn't just throw them away. My guess is that they didn't have anyone in their family to appreciate them as much as your charity does."
And another pondered: "Donated? Instead of selling them? They are good people." Whilst a third noted: "That collection looks priceless - I bet Mattel would be interested in it. That should be in a museum or a school where kids can play with them. That collection was meant for someone."

I transformed my kitchen for £82 – people ask ‘HOW' but a cheap B&M buy made all the difference
HOME RENO I transformed my kitchen for £82 – people ask 'HOW' but a cheap B&M buy made all the difference A DIY-savvy woman has revealed how she completely transformed her tired-looking kitchen on a shoestring budget. Charlotte Watson took to TikTok to share her budget makeover, showing off her seriously chic new kitchen, all thanks to some bargain finds and a bit of elbow grease. In her video, Charlotte explains that the kitchen 'definitely needed a little bit of love', so she rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in, determined to give it a new lease of life without breaking the bank. Kicking things off with a thorough clean, she scrubbed down every cupboard door and surface, making sure to get into all the gaps before sanding everything. She then grabbed a pot of cover paint from B&Q and started coating the cupboards. Advertisement In a relatable DIY slip-up, Charlotte forgot to remove the handles before painting, which meant having to start again. As the transformation got underway, she confessed it didn't look great at first, calling it a real 'trust the process' project. But after a few more coats of paint- four in total - the space started to come together beautifully. The finishing touch was a game-changing stick-on laminate from B&M that only set her back £21. Advertisement She said: "It's the stick on DC fix! It's like a laminate worktop in a roll, super cheap from B&M". She used it to cover the old worktops, instantly giving the kitchen a sleek, modern feel. The final result is seriously impressive. The once-drab kitchen now looks stylish and fresh and all for less than the cost of a weekly shop. Tradesmen quoted me £2.5K to wrap my kitchen cupboards so I did it myself for £62 instead and it looks so good Charlotte says she got all her other supplies from B&Q and spent just £82 all in, proving that budget retailers can be a goldmine for cheap and cheerful upgrades. Advertisement Viewers couldn't believe the transformation, flooding the comments with praise. 'Wait the cupboards are painted?! Wow they look stunning,' one person wrote. Another added: 'Okay you've convinced me.' Others simply called it 'stunning' and said it looked 'so much nicer'. Advertisement Charlotte's makeover is proof that you don't need a massive budget to create a big impact, just a bit of time, patience and a good nose for a bargain.

Shopping centre statement after viral video of girl causing 'mayhem' stuns onlookers
A series of videos have gone viral on social media at the weekend showing a young girl causing 'chaos' at Manchester Arndale and now the shopping centre has issued a statement A major UK shopping centre has issued a statement after wild videos went viral on social media allegedly showing a young girl causing 'mayhem'. In the various clips, a young girl is spotted clambering on top of an escalator, being ushered away by security guards, and reportedly yanking another shopper's hair whilst inside Manchester's Arndale Shopping Centre. One video capturing the incident has been viewed by more than 55 million people on TikTok within just three days. Another snippet on X has amassed over 13 million views in barely 12 hours, with folks from all corners of the globe sharing their opinions on the footage. It comes after a family of 10 'barged out' of pub in brazen dine and dash after £320 meal. Some American viewers have drawn comparisons between the girl and children's book character Junie B Jones, as well as The Grinch's Cindy Lou Who. The footage appears to kick off with a young girl in a pink coat and her family having a row with a team of security staff outside a shop, alongside another group of shoppers. It's unclear what is being said, but online speculation suggests that the girl and her family were accused of shoplifting, with security seen separating the two groups of shoppers. As the clip rolls on, the girl and her family depart, before another young girl hurls an unidentified object towards where the security guards and the other group of shoppers are standing, reports the Manchester Evening News. In a subsequent video, believed to follow the earlier footage, the girl in the pink coat is seen descending an escalator ahead of two security staff. She then hoists herself onto the central partition between the moving staircases and climbs onto the adjacent escalator, which is stationary, proceeding to walk up its steps. At the top, she confronts a group of onlookers, before being filmed yanking the hair of a female shopper. The girl then returns down the escalator, all the while sporting a grin. The collection of videos has sparked a flurry of reactions, with some labelling the young girl a 'diva' while others condemn her behaviour. One viewer commented: "the pink jacket girl CLIMBING OVER the escalator, going back down it, and then going back up just gag her is frying me like WHO IS THIS DIVA LMFAOOO." They continued: "this entire situation is so chaotic i'm crying". Another remarked: "That escalator wasn't ready for a diva moment". While some were amused by the footage, there were those who expressed disapproval. A commenter stated: "I don't find her behaviour that funny." Another added: "Parents need to start parenting." There was also criticism towards those glamorising the girl's antics, with one individual questioning: "What an imbecile. Endangering others safety as well as her own. Why we calling her diva again?" One person said: "Hateee the way everyone's hyping this child up, like that is not a diva stop enabling this behaviour omg." Another voiced their concern: "maybe it's because i actually have kids and I'd die of embarrassment if they were like this, but the response to this girl overall being 'go off queen' is so ****ed." However, while some may think the event is recent, the Manchester Evening News has confirmed that the original videos were first shared on TikTok in March 2022 by @dreams_dreams24. The same account has recently re-uploaded the videos, causing 'pink coat girl' to become a viral sensation on TikTok once again. Shameless star Kelli Hollis also weighed in on the footage with her 293,000 followers, labelling the youngster a 'little madam'. In her video, Kelli commented: "She ain't a little diva, her. She's going to be a little ****ing nightmare is what she is." She continued: "It's funny because it's just pure cheek but she's a little madam." Manchester Arndale's spokesperson said: "We're aware of a video that has been recently circulated on social media, which shows an altercation that took place in Manchester Arndale and was attended by members of our Security team." They clarified: "Following a review of the footage, we can confirm that this is a historic incident that occurred several years ago."
