Ravens' coach praises offseason improvement of former UNC star receiver
Through his second offseason in the league, Walker not only has himself surprised and feeling back to his college-day speed, but the team's head coach is taking notice of the revamped wide receiver as well.

According to Ryan Mink, the editorial director of the Baltimore Ravens, Harbaugh had this to say about Walker:
"Every day, all he does is show up and go 100 miles an hour. He's got a chance to be really good."
Walker himself has been surprised with some of the improvements he has seen. The turn for him started with a touchdown last season. Walker had this to say about that play:
I think that touchdown meant a lot, especially to the staff. You know, drafting a guy you believe in and finally get out there and showcase it. I think it kind of turned heads a little bit. It was a real big deal for me."
Walker continued in his statement post training camp to talk about those improvements:

"Last year, early on, I felt like I wasn't able to play as fast. You know, I'm wondering what to do. I'm thinking so much, trying to do everything right, perfect everything. I wasn't able to go out there and run full speed. This year, I'm able to get lined up and go out there and play as fast as possible. I feel really confident. I know what we're trying to get done in this offense, and I'm able to go out there and play full speed."
In his rookie season with the Ravens, Walker appeared in nine games. He ended up grabbing one of three targets for the previously mentioned 21-yard touchdown. Despite Baltimore still having Zay Flowers and Rashad Bateman and adding DeAndre Hopkins, Walker will still try to carve out a role where he can shine.

Shane Gillis roasts Shedeur Sanders over Colorado jersey number retirement during ESPYS
Comedian Shane Gillis roasted quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his father Deion Wednesday with a joke about the controversial decision to retire Shedeur's No. 2 at Colorado after two seasons in Boulder. Gillis made the remarks while hosting the ESPYS in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16, when he made fun of many sports celebrities and topics. 'Shedeur Sanders had his jersey number retired at Colorado this year, and people are saying it's because of nepotism, because of his father, and it's not' Gillis said. 'It's because he went 13-12 over his career, and he almost won the Alamo Bowl. Definitely not nepotism, right?' The joke drew a muted response from the audience, with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson shown on ESPN looking down and smiling. Shedeur Sanders, now with the Cleveland Browns, actually went 13-11 as starting quarterback at Colorado across the 2023 and 2024 seasons while playing for his father Deion, Colorado's head coach. But he is considered possibly the best quarterback in school history after breaking over 100 school records and reviving a program that went 1-11 in 2022, the season before he arrived. The decision to retire his jersey number still was controversial, partly because it came less than four months after his last college game in the Alamo Bowl against BYU, which he lost, 36-14. The decision also seemed to overlook other all-time Colorado greats, especially former Colorado quarterback Darian Hagan, who led Colorado to the national championship in 1990 and had a 28-5-2 record as QB. By contrast, Hagan's jersey number never was retired by Colorado. The university said the decision to retire a player's jersey number is at the discretion of the athletic department administration and current head coach. In April, the university announced the decision to retire the jersey numbers of Sanders and his teammate Travis Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner. Before them, only four jersey numbers had been retired in CU's 135-year football history and none since 2017. Follow reporter Brent Schrotenboer @Schrotenboer. Email: bschrotenb@

4-star Ohio State football offensive line target sets commitment announcement date
While the Ohio State football program has most of its 2026 recruiting haul mostly put together, it is still looking to add a few more players. And while the Buckeyes already have four offensive linemen already committed, they'll gladly accept another good talent because you can never have too many numbers for a position that's hard to evaluate. One such talent is four-star offensive lineman Da'Ron Parks out of Cardinal Mooney in Sarasota, Florida. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Parks is ranked as the No. 24 interior offensive lineman and 311th overall prospect. There aren't a lot of priority targets left for Ohio State, so nabbing him would be good to get some further momentum going. And he's a big target in more than one way. He's listed as 6-foot, five-inches, and 350 pounds. Parks will be choosing between OSU, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and Kentucky at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. We'll keep an eye on this one and have news when the announcement is made.
