SIR JIMMY ANDERSON UNVEILS DP WORLD'S SUPPORT FOR GRASSROOTS AT HOME OF CRICKET

LONDON, June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — DP World, the international logistics business, today brought its Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Lord's cricket ground with the help of England legend Sir James Anderson.
Rashid Abdulla, CEO & MD, Europe at DP World said, 'Bringing the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Europe for the first time is a proud milestone for DP World. In partnership with the ICC and MCC Foundation, and enabled by our supply chain solutions capability, we are helping to expand access to the game by supporting grassroots facilities across the region.'
The delivery of 250 cricket kits in a repurposed shipping container comes ahead of this week's ICC World Test Championship Final, of which DP World is the Global Logistics Partner. The kits – each including a bat, pads, gloves, and helmet – will be distributed to schools across Britain in partnership with the MCC Foundation.
'It's great to see the support of an ICC partner extending to the grassroots game around the world and now arriving in the UK ahead of this week's final,' commented Sir James Anderson. 'Opportunity and access are everything in growing cricket here, so DP World's provision of kits to the school system is a huge moment.'
The initiative will continue to be bolstered by a kits-for-runs scheme during the test match between South Africa and Australia, just as has been active at all ICC pinnacle tournaments since the initiative's launch.
Anurag Dahiya, Chief Commercial Officer of the ICC, added 'Partnerships don't take a more authentic form than the staunch grassroots support DP World has shown. The Beyond Boundaries Initiative has already impacted lives in New York, Namibia and beyond – and now it's making a difference at the heart of cricket tradition.'
Angus Berry, Director of Operations for the MCC Foundation, said: 'We feel a responsibility to the grassroots game in this country and beyond. This collaboration with DP World, arriving at Lord's ahead of the ICC World Test Championship Final, underlines our shared commitment to creating access and opportunity for all young cricketers.'
To date, the Beyond Boundaries Initiative has delivered 12 repurposed shipping containers, distributed 3,000 cricket kits, activated programs in 8 countries across 4 continents, and empowered over 15,000 young people to play cricket.

Jay Shah congratulates ICC Player of the Month award winners for June 2025

New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): The International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah congratulated South African batter Aiden Markram and West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews for securing the ICC Player of the Month awards for June in men's and women's cricket categories, respectively. South Africa batter Markram and West Indies skipper Matthews were announced as the winners of the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month awards for June 2025. Taking to X, Shah wrote, 'Congratulations to Hayley Matthews and Aiden Markram on their @ICC Player of the Month Awards. Aiden's performance to lead South Africa to the #WTC25 title was simply amazing while for Matthews this was her record-equalling fourth POTM Award after a great month with bat and ball.' Markram won the men's award ahead of team-mate Kagiso Rabada and Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka for his for Player of the Match effort in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at Lord's. The 30-year-old opener struck a solid 136 off 207 balls and featured in a 147-run third-wicket stand with captain Temba Bavuma in a successful chase of 282. The five-wicket victory helped South Africa win an ICC Title for the first time since the Champions Trophy in 1998. Markram also picked up a wicket each in the two innings. Matthews, who has previously won the awards in November 2021, October 2023, and April 2024, edged South Africa's Tazmin Brits and compatriot Afy Fletcher to become only the second player to win the award four times after Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner. The West Indies skipper scored 104 runs in the three ODIs against South Africa, which included a half-century in the third match. She also grabbed four wickets in the series. Her fine run continued in the subsequent 2-1 T20I series win. She was named Player of the Series for her two fifties in an aggregate of 147 runs and two wickets. (ANI)

Syria signs US$800 million agreement to bolster ports infrastructure

The deal's signing ceremony was attended by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. (Syria's Transitional Government/AFP pic) DUBAI : Syria's general authority for land and sea ports on Sunday signed a US$800 million agreement with UAE's DP World to bolster Syrian ports infrastructure and logistical services, Syrian state news agency SANA reported. The agreement follows on from a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides in May. The deal with DP World, a subsidiary of UAE investment company Dubai World, focuses on developing a multi-purpose terminal at Tartous on Syria's Mediterranean coast and cooperation in setting up industrial and free trade zones. The signing ceremony was attended by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Last month, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order terminating a US sanctions programme on Syria, paving the way for an end to the country's isolation from the international financial system and for the rebuilding of its economy shattered by the civil war. The removal of US sanctions will also clear the way for greater engagement by humanitarian organisations working in Syria, easing foreign investment and trade as the country rebuilds.
