British woman, 24, dies snorkeling at famous beach in Indonesia
The 24-year-old woman suffered a seizure while swimming in the Semangko Sea near the famous Pink Beach in East Lombok, Indonesia, on July 30.
She was part of a tour group of ten people exploring the beauty spot and was diving with one other when everything went tragically wrong.
The British tourist re-emerged from the 50ft dive when she began convulsing.
She was rushed back onto the boat and was still breathing as the group raced back to shore.
An ambulance picked her up once they were back on land, but the snorkler was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
Crew and tourists who were on the boat are now being interrogated by authorities.
The 24-year-old's body is being kept at the Bhayangkara Hospital pending a post-mortem exam.
Nikolas Osman, head of public relations at the East Lombok Police, said: 'At around 8:30 WITA, the group arrived at the first location, Gili Peteluan, for snorkelling. 'When she was about to return to the surface of the sea, the victim's condition suddenly became unusual, so her friend guided her to the surface.'
Pink Beach, officially Pantai Merah, in Indonesia is famous for its distinctive colour and is a popular location for snorkeling, swimming and photography.
It gets its pink appearance from microscopic red organisms called foraminifera, which mix with white sand.
The UK's Foreign Office told Metro: 'We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Indonesia and are in touch with the local authorities.'

Woman in her 60s found dead at bottom of cliff just hours after couple's bodies
A woman in her 60s has been found dead at the bottom of cliffs below Whitby Abbey. It is the third death in the area in the space of 24 hours after a couple in their 40s died after falling from the cliff. The woman's body was found yesterday just hours after the couple's bodies were found. Her body was found by a member of the public just after midday on Thursday. 'Police, ambulance, coastguard, mountain rescue and lifeboat teams were called into assist with the incident, which is believed to have involved a fall from the cliff. 'Due to the rocky location and high tide, mountain rescue assisted in recovering the woman's body to the lifeboat before being taken to the lifeboat house. 'Enquiries are ongoing to investigate the circumstances for a coroner's report. 'The sudden death is not believed to be suspicious. The woman's family have been informed and are receiving support. Ghislaine Maxwell quietly moved out of Florida prison while seeking Trump pardon
Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell has been quietly transferred from a Florida federal prison to a lower-security facility in Texas as she seeks a pardon from President Donald Trump. Maxwell's move out of Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee was confirmed by the Bureau of Prisons on Friday, amid her push for a deal to speak on the late Epstein and be released. 'We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,' stated BOP inmate locator official Benjamin O'Cone. The reason Maxwell, 63, was moved was not immediately clear. Maxwell's attorney David Oscar Markus also confirmed that his client was sent to the Texas facility but said 'we have no other comment', according to USA Today. The disgraced British socialite in 2022 was sentenced to 20 years for helping convicted sex offender Epstein sexually abuse underage girls. About a month after her sentencing, she was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to FCI Tallahassee, which is a 'low security' prison for men and women. A photo that has been widely shared on social media claimed to show former prime minister Boris Johnson with disgraced British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. A caption hardcoded onto the photo reads: 'Mossad agent Robert Maxwell's daughter Ghislaine and one of her lovers. Boris something or other.' Evaluation The image shows Mr Johnson with his ex-wife Allegra Mostyn-Owen in 1986, a year before the couple married. The facts The image was taken in 1986 by photographer Dafydd Jones.
