Oman pushes cleaner energy with green hydrogen and gas projects
It's big business: two previous rounds drew pledges of $49 billion to develop 30 gigawatts of renewable power and 1 million tons per year of hydrogen capacity. OQ Gas Networks is planning a national hydrogen pipeline network to support the projects.
Further north, TotalEnergies and OQ Exploration and Production broke ground on the $1.6 billion Marsa LNG project. This will produce up to 1 million tons per year of fuel for ships and will be powered by a 300 megawatt solar plant, which the partners say will make it the world's lowest-emission LNG plant.

Venture Global signs 20-year LNG agreement with Eni
Venture Global has entered a 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Eni, the Italian energy company's first long-term contract with a US liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer. The agreement entails the purchase of two million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG from Venture Global's CP2 LNG project. The CP2 LNG facility, with a nameplate capacity of 20mtpa, is being developed adjacent to Venture Global's Calcasieu Pass LNG facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The deal will bolster Eni's goal to expand its LNG portfolio to around 20mtpa of contracted volumes by 2030, while growing its trading business and addressing the changing demands of customers in key global markets. Eni said in a statement: 'The agreement is Eni's first long-term LNG supply from the United States and represents a significant milestone in Eni's strategy to expand and diversify its global LNG footprint, enhancing portfolio flexibility. Part of these volumes will contribute to the diversification of Europe's gas supplies.' The deal with Eni contributes to the 13.5mtpa of CP2 phase one already sold, bringing Venture Global's total contracted capacity to 43.5mtpa. Venture Global's portfolio of LNG customers continues to expand across Europe, Asia and other regions. Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel said: 'We are honoured that Eni, a leading innovator and global gas player, has chosen Venture Global as their first American LNG supplier. Italy is an important ally and trading partner to the United States, and we are grateful for the trust of Eni as our newest customer. "This deal marks a significant milestone for the company and is further recognition of our growing global energy leadership and strong record of execution.' In addition to the Eni agreement, Venture Global has signed a deal with a Securing Energy for Europe subsidiary to purchase an additional 750,000 tonnes per annum of LNG from the CP2 LNG project for 20 years. "Venture Global signs 20-year LNG agreement with Eni" was originally created and published by Offshore Technology, a GlobalData owned brand. Second sanctioned LNG ship this year stops at Russia's Arctic LNG 2, data shows
SINGAPORE, July 17 (Reuters) - A liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel targeted by U.S. sanctions docked at Russia's Arctic LNG 2 plant this week, the second sanctioned vessel to stop at the plant so far this year, shiptracking data from LSEG and Kpler showed. This could indicate that loadings at Arctic LNG 2, which is also subject to the same Western sanctions over Russia's conflict with Ukraine, have resumed. The tanker Voskhod arrived at the Arctic LNG 2 plant on Wednesday, with Kpler data showing it was unloaded when heading towards the plant. The first vessel to arrive this year at Arctic LNG 2 was the Iris, which loaded a cargo at the plant on June 26. It was the ninth cargo loaded from the plant, and the vessel is currently near Kolguyev island in the west of Russia, according to shiptracking data. In October, the U.S. Department of State had imposed sanctions on registered owners and managers of several LNG vessels including Voskhod, which was previously called North Mountain. While Voskhod's registered owner remains LNG Beta Shipping, its ship or commercial manager changed on May 23 to Igarka OOO, which has a registered address in Moscow, according to shipping database Equasis. Reuters was not able to find contact information for LNG Beta Shipping or Igarka. The Arctic LNG 2 project, which is 60%-owned by Russia's Novatek, was set to become one of the country's largest LNG plants, with eventual output of 19.8 million metric tons per year.
