Notre Dame football started fall practice today and here are some highlights from the day

While Notre Dame football got started with its fall practice today, there wasn't too much to take away from it as they were just in shells, but head coach Marcus Freeman did break down some of the action following the session.
That doesn't mean that there weren't some clips getting shared on social media, and there were plenty that should make Irish fans happy. Notre Dame once again has lofty goals for the 2025 season, as they look to return to the College Football Playoff and hopefully cap it off by winning the last game of the season.
The Irish played as many games as a team could last year, and they now know what it takes to get there. Notre Dame has all the pieces to get back, but we are just excited that football has returned in South Bend.
Take a look below at some of the practice clips that were shared.
Defensive end Bryce Young
Many, including myself, think that Young is poised for a breakout season after an impressive true freshman campaign. He was just scratching the surface during year one, and it will be very interesting to see the progress that he has made in the off-season. Young looks bigger and has great bend with lateral movement.
Wide receiver Malachi Fields
The Virginia transfer has been with the program since the spring, but couldn't take part in many team activities. He's full-go now, and will be giving the offense a huge boost. Fields is a big target who brings tons of experience with him to South Bend. He could be in line for a massive season.
Defensive end Boubacar Traore
After missing a good portion of last fall due to an injury, Traore will be slowly brought back into action. He looks good here, and it seems like his explosiveness has returned. He could play a very big part in Notre Dame's defense this fall, once the staff feels like he's fully ready to contribute.
Wide receiver Cam Williams
It was odd that Williams couldn't crack the rotation last fall, as he was one of the highest ranked incoming recruits in his class. The off-season did him well, as he looks to have added on some good weight that will make a difference going up against defensive backs at this level. If Williams even has a mini-breakout, this could be the deepest wide receiver group that the Irish have had in years.
The quarterbacks
Sure, they're just throwing the ball around, but this gives us a great look at who is getting the ball out quickly as they are rolling to their right. Minchey looks so smooth throwing on the move, and while Carr doesn't look bad, it does look like he'll have to start his load a bit quicker. Odd seeing Tyler Buchner back with this group, but there is a need for veteran leadership, and he is it.
Carson Hobbs picking off CJ Carr
This was one of the three reported interceptions for Carr on the day, and you can't really blame him all that much about this one. The throw was right there, but KK Smith just couldn't haul it in. Honestly, you can't take much away from one practice, and while we all would have liked to see Carr shinning during the first day, he's going to have much better ones as the Irish continue to build towards the season opener.
