Liam Gallagher blasts Coldplay over viral kiss cam cheating moment

7NEWS4 days ago
Liam Gallagher has lashed out at Coldplay over the band's infamous live kiss cam moment.
The 52-year-old, who is back on the road with Oasis, hit out at the incident on stage amid the continuing fallout from the Coldplay concert in Boston on Wednesday.
Frontman Chris Martin joked about a couple caught on camera cuddling — later identified as Andy Byron, 50, and Kristin Cabot, both executives at software firm Astronomer — who are reportedly both married to other people.
Gallagher made it clear that Oasis fans need not fear the spotlight at his gigs, following global backlash over the pair's alleged fling.
'Right then, do we have any love birds in the house? Don't worry, we ain't got any of that Coldplay snidey f***ing camera s***,' he told the crowd in Manchester on Sunday night, local time.
'This one's for the love birds anyway.
'Doesn't matter to us who you're mingling with — or tingly with, fingingly with.
'None of our f***ing business.'
The incident at the Coldplay concert drew widespread attention after Chris Martin's stage camera landed on Byron and Cabot, who appeared stunned.
'Oh, look at these two — either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' Martin said.
The clip rapidly gained traction online, viewed more than 120 million times.
Following the incident, Astronomer confirmed Byron's resignation, stating: 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.
'While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.'
The concertgoer who filmed the footage said she hadn't expected the attention the footage would receive.
'In the moment when I filmed it I didn't think much of it, but everyone was kind of chattering,' Grace Springer told British broadcaster ITV.
'I definitely feel for Andy's wife Megan, his family and everyone else who has been hurt in the process.'
Asked whether she would post it again, she replied: 'If it wasn't me who uploaded it, I'm sure someone else would've.'

British jazz singer Cleo Laine dead at 97

British jazz singer Cleo Laine, who performed with musical greats including Frank Sinatra and starred as an actress in London's West End and on Broadway, has died aged 97. Her death was announced on Friday in a statement from her children Jacqui and Alec. Born to an English mother and a Jamaican father in a suburb of London in 1927, she initially worked as a hair-dresser, a hat-trimmer and a librarian. She married in 1946 and had a son while still a teenager. Driven on by her dream of becoming a singer, she divorced and got her big break in 1951, when she joined the band of English saxophonist and clarinettist John Dankworth at 24. Dankworth's band decided her name was too long - at the time she thought she had been born Clementine Campbell, though a passport application later revealed her mother had used her own surname Hitching on the birth certificate. The men of the Dankworth Seven band thought her name was too cumbersome for a poster, and that her nickname Clem was too cowboy-like. They settled on a new stage persona for her by drawing "Cleo" and "Laine" from hats. In 1958, she and Dankworth married. Their home became a magnet for London's jazz set: friends included stars from across the Atlantic such as Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald, Lester Young and Dizzy Gillespie. After acting as well as singing in Britain through the 1960s, Laine toured Australia in 1972 and performed at New York's Lincoln Centre. The recording of a further show, at Carnegie Hall, won her a Grammy. Recordings included Porgy and Bess with Ray Charles. In 1992 she appeared with Frank Sinatra for a series of shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London, but she was best known for her work with Dankworth's bands. He later became her musical director. The couple built their own auditorium in the grounds of their home near London and were friends with Princess Margaret, the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. Their two children went on to become musicians. Dankworth - who Laine described as being "joined at the hip" with her - died in 2010. Hours after his death, Laine performed a scheduled show in their auditorium, announcing the news about her husband only at the end of the concert.

HR exec on Coldplay cam resigns after viral embrace

The executive who was caught on camera embracing the CEO of her company at a Coldplay concert in a moment that went viral has resigned. The company, Astronomer, confirmed that its executive in charge of human resources has left. "Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned," spokesman Taylor Jones said in a brief statement. Her departure follows the resignation of CEO Andy Byron, who quit after the company said he was being put on leave pending an investigation. The episode resulted in endless memes, parody videos and screenshots of the pair's shocked faces filling social media feeds. Cabot and Byron were caught by surprise when singer Chris Martin asked the cameras to scan the crowd for his "Jumbotron Song" during the concert last week at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. They were shown cuddling and smiling, but when they saw themselves on the big screen, Cabot's jaw dropped, her hands flew to her face and she spun away from the camera while Byron ducked out of the frame. "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," Martin joked in video that spread quickly around the internet. When the video first spread online it wasn't immediately clear who they were, but online sleuths rapidly figured out their identities. The company has previously confirmed the identities of the couple in a statement to the AP. Both of their profiles have now been removed from Astronomer's website, and a November press release announcing her hiring has also been deleted. Astronomer was a previously obscure tech company based in New York. It provides big companies with a platform that helps them organise their data. Online streams of Coldplay's songs jumped 20 per cent in the days after the video went viral, according to Luminate, an industry data and analytics company.
