Special intensive revision of voter list gains momentum
Bihar has become the first state in the country to launch such an intensive voter list revision drive, carried out under the guidance of the Election Commission (EC).
As part of this process, polling station officers, after proper training, have been tasked with the responsibility to verify, distribute, and collect the enumeration forms door-to-door. An EC official claimed that all political parties in Bihar are actively participating in the SIR.
So far, over 1.5 lakh booth level agents (BLAs) have been appointed to verify the voter list at each polling station.
Out of the 7,89,69,844 voters, approximately 4.96 crore were already included in the final revised voter list as on Jan 1, 2003, a report from the EC office said. These voters only need to confirm their entries and submit the filled enumeration form. Additionally, if either parent of a voter was included in the voter list as on Jan 1, 2003, the voter will not need to present any related documents for enrolment during the 2025 special intensive revision, regardless of their date of birth, the statement said.
To expedite the process, all district election officers have been instructed to seek assistance from local Anganwadi workers, Vikas Mitras, Jeevika Didis, and volunteers from NCC, NSS, and Nehru Yuva Kendra. These volunteers will not only help voters fill out forms, but also assist polling station officers in the distribution and collection tasks.

Gaurav Gogoi also raised questions on the right of every citizen to vote and the concerns regarding the special intensive revision in Bihar. "...it is the duty of the Prime Minister to put forth the position of his government or the government's side inside the House.," he said. 3. Speaking about the importance of discussing India's defence and foreign policy, Gogoi said senior army officers have raised a 'very sensitive issue about the two-front axis that has been formed on our border with China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.' The Congress leader said that as the head of the government, it is "incumbent and moral responsibility" of the Prime Minister to speak to the nation on all these issues in Parliament. "I hope that the Prime Minister will fulfill his moral and ethical duty," he said. The Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on July 21 and continue until August 21.

Economic issues, foreign policy, and the Ahmedabad plane crash are on the agenda too.' He confirmed that all INDIA bloc members except the Aam Aadmi Party attended a preparatory meeting held earlier. NCP, DMK, RPI(A) among parties present Prominent attendees included Supriya Sule (NCP–Sharad Pawar faction), T R Baalu (DMK), and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale (RPI–A), indicating wide participation across the political spectrum. The government is expected to take note of the opposition's demands ahead of a politically charged session. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari outlines agenda Speaking to reporters, Tiwari said, 'Those involved in the Pahalgam terror attack have not been caught. We want the PM to directly answer our questions.
