Love Island star's secret connection to previous finalist is revealed ahead of their arrival in the villa

Daily Mail04-06-2025
Love Island has confirmed the full line-up of contestants set to enter the villa for the 12th series on June 9, for another season of love triangles, bedroom trysts and messy breakups.
After joining the popular dating series in January 2023, Maya Jama will once again be at the helm, as the ITV2 show celebrates a decade on screens and promises to have 'more twists and turns than ever before' in honour of the anniversary.
This year's crop of hopefuls include a Declan Rice body double, a firebreather and a Maura Higgins lookalike.
But one of the new Islanders may have an edge on his fellow castmates, as he boasts a connection to a previous finalist.
According to The Sun, Dejon Noel-Williams is pals with 2023 star Tyrique Hyde, who made it all the way to the final with then-girlfriend Ella Thomas.

Dejon, who plays football semi-professionally alongside his job as a personal trainer, is also the son of former Premier League striker Gifton.
Ex-Watford and Stoke striker Gifton, 45, began his professional football career in 1996 and last played for Codicote in 2017 before retiring.
And during his time at Watford from 1996 to 2003, he was teammates with none other than Micah Hyde, who is the father of Tyrique.
The two stars played together at the club and looked to have been good friends, with their sons Dejon and Tyrique being the same age.
The two boys also both followed in their fathers' footsteps by becoming footballers themselves.
And in his role as a personal trainer, Dejon also counts Tyrique as one of his clients, with the duo often sharing videos of them working out at the gym together.
Ahead of his villa entrance, Dejon revealed that he 'met all kinds of famous people' because of his footballing father and even remarked on a meeting with David Beckham.
He said: 'When I was younger it was weird because he was just my dad, but we'd go to a game and fans were asking for photos. I've met David Beckham, he was really nice.'
Dejon, from London, boasts 11,000 followers on social media thanks in part to his regular shirtless gym snaps and in 2021, represented the Grenada national football team.
His bio reads: 'I go beyond the gym -helping you build Strength, Confidence & Discipline for life.'
Asked what he was looking for in a girl in the villa, he said he wanted someone who 'is beautiful on the inside and out, looks after themselves and is healthy'.
Tyrique shot to fame on the 2023 series with his romance with Ella being heavily tested with some dramatic ups and downs.
They exited the villa together, but shortly after announced they'd split in November 2023, before trying to give it another go.
But, in February 2024, MailOnline exclusively revealed Ella and Tyrique had parted ways permanently - after six months as a couple.
A source told MailOnline: 'Ella and Tyrique have decided it's time to go their separate ways.
'They have such love for each other, but they often struggle to get along and as viewers saw in the villa, they're always arguing.'

Meanwhile, Dejon is not the only footballing connection in the upcoming series, as fans of the lower leagues may have spotted a star dubbed 'The Surrey Zidane'.
Harry Cooksley, 29, is a midfielder for Southern League Premier South side Farnham Town, while also working as a gold trader and model.
But more interestingly, his pastimes include being a body double for Arsenal and England star Declan Rice.
Harry revealed: 'So when he does a shoot, any body close ups will actually be me. You'll never see my face, but you'll see my shoulder or chest, that kind of thing.'

England need just 35 runs to seal thrilling series win against India after rain ended play on day four to set up nail-biting finale

England will require just 35 runs to win the series against India after rain brought an end to play on day four and delayed the tourists' late charge at The Oval. West Ham fans fume as club confirm signing of their former bogeyman who mocked their Conference League triumph

West Ham announced a new singing on Saturday and it hasn't gone down well with some sections of their fanbase. The club announced that striker Callum Wilson has agreed a one-year deal after his contract at Newcastle expired. The 33-year-old endured an injury-ridden campaign at Newcastle last season, starting just two Premier League games and scoring one goal in all competitions. But he has been more prolific in the past with 49 goals in 130 games for the Magpies and 67 in 187 appearances for Bournemouth prior to that. He's scored 12 goals in 16 games against the Hammers, more than he has against any other club, earning a reputation as somewhat of a bogeyman. That isn't the main issue supporters have, however, with Wilson having made some comments that have angered them in the past. He once scored a goal against them with his hand and went on to describe it as a 'tough of magic.' Wilson also compared West Ham's Europa Conference League win to winning a trophy on FIFA. Responding to the announcement of the signing, one fan wrote: 'delighted to welcome Wilson - a man who mocked our European trophy, said Michail Antonio would never play CL, and made a career out of scoring against us. Truly the West Ham way. Another said: You know Callum that most Hammers were against you signing, for a number of reasons, including the times when you have dissed the club over the years. 'A chance for you to put things right. Put in the hard yards and effort and play for the badge and you will find that we can be supportive. Another posted on X: 'He spent most of his career taking digs at our club and fanbase, so this doesn't surprise me, who could forget when he handballed a late equaliser for Bournemouth against us and laughed and joked about it in front of the cameras afterwards called it 'a touch of magic' didn't he? Speaking on his move, Wilson said: 'I'm excited to be joining a massive Football Club like West Ham. 'A Club that shares a similar passion to mine, hard work, dedication and also I strive for success so I'm glad to be a part of it. 'I'm looking forward to the challenge. There's such talent within the squad. And obviously the gaffer's come in now, he's making everybody a team - all working in the same direction to achieve the goal which is to be finishing as high as possible in the league and it's what the fans deserve, what the team deserve and it's what the squad quality deserves too.'

Dina Asher-Smith sets championship record to seal 200m title at British nationals

Dina Asher-Smith produced a championship record and pipped Amy Hunt to gold in the women's 200m at the UK Athletics Championships. The 29-year-old held off a fightback from 100m UK champion Hunt and got her head beyond the line a thousandth of a second before her rival, with Daryll Neita third in Birmingham. Asher-Smith led round the bend but Hunt looked to overtake the three-time Olympic medallist - but the line came just in time for Asher-Smith. There was a nervous wait before the stadium announcement revealed she took the crown with a time of 22.14 seconds. Asher-Smith said: 'It was an excellent race, we needed a photo-finish because neither of us knew who had won. 'I have done this for long enough to know the only thing that matters is the Championships and Tokyo round-by-round, so I mind my own business and focus on myself. I am in great shape, and there are a few things in there that I can still tweak, so I am happy.' Asher-Smith's time would have been enough for her to get bronze in Paris last year, showing the upward trajectory of her performance, and she believes she is in a good place ahead of the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo. She added: 'I've been in great shape for quite a long time but it's about being in a good place that makes sense to you. It's a really strong place to be ahead of a championship.' Georgia Hunter Bell added another UK title to her collection with victory in the 800m. She had to work hard for her title though, facing competition from Jemma Reekie - who finished second - and it was not until the final 150m that she got her nose in front, crossing the line in 1:59.53 to claim gold. Hunter Bell runs in both the 800m and 1500m races but has still not made a decision on which discipline she will pick at the Tokyo games. She explained: 'I am not going to make the decision until after I have run my next Diamond League 1500 and 800, so I have a bit of time to think. 'The cons are that I am probably in better shape over 800 on the world stage, but the 1500 is first - it is hard to decide.' Asked whether she thinks she can beat Keely Hodgkinson, who may run in the same race in Tokyo next month, she added: 'I don't know. 'We train together all the time. But she's such a good athlete and it will be the first time we've raced where we're kind of close.' Paris 2024 silver medallist Josh Kerr earned an emphatic victory in the men's 5000m final. He was always one of the most prominent in the field and he started to stretch out the pack alongside Rory Leonard, who sprinted clear from the pack. However, Kerr claimed the lead with two laps to go and did not look back, leaving his opponents to finish in 13 minutes 23.78 seconds. Jack Kavanagh and Leonard were second and third respectively. He said: 'It was always going to be tough out there over the last mile but I really enjoyed the first eight laps. Elsewhere, Amber Anning won the women's 400m final in front of Victoria Ohuruogu and Charlie Dobson claimed gold in the men's race. Zharnel Hughes completed a double gold, setting a new championship record as he won the men's 200m just 24 hours after winning the 100m. He dedicated his 100m gold to his late aunt, whose funeral took place in Anguilla this weekend, and which he was forced to miss in order to compete in Birmingham.
