The Dallas Mavericks shocked the world back in February when they dealt franchise centerpiece Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers before the trade deadline.

The historic swap sent Anthony Davis to Dallas along with a first round pick in a move that clearly signaled a move toward the future.
Lakers star LeBron James had a player option on his contract this offseason which he picked up, but as Los Angeles focuses on the future, he appears to be evaluating where he fits in.
There has been speculation that the king could be traded for the first time this offseason to a location that he deems more championship ready than the Lakers currently are.

There has been no concrete information to suggest that James will request a trade, but if he does, there are people who believe the Cleveland Cavaliers will be major players.

The four-time NBA champion spent his first seven seasons with the team before departing for the Miami Heat, though he would eventually return for another four seasons in which he delivered Cleveland its first championship.
Because he was born nearby in Akron and spent 11 of his first 15 seasons with the team, they will naturally always be linked.
It would be difficult because of each team's financial situation, so Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus laid out an elaborate four-team trade that satisfies all salary cap regulations.
The trade is an albatross with the main components being James going home to Cleveland, the Cavs sending out Jarrett Allen and De'Andre Hunter to the Lakers and Darius Garland to the Utah Jazz, who in turn send Walker Kessler to Cleveland along with two first-round picks.

There are a few other ancillary pieces in the trade to match salaries like Dorian Finney-Smith going to the Houston Rockets.
This would be one of the most unprecedented deals in NBA history if it were to happen, but the odds are very slim.
Utah has been shopping Kessler for about a year now, but they've been seeking multiple first rounders, so it's unlikely they'd ship him off with picks attached.
Also, Cleveland has very wisely leaned into the youth they have on there roster, so it's hard to picture a scenario where they move two of their young stars for one or two more seasons of LeBron.
If the Cavs want a storybook ending where the 21-time All-Star finishes his career there, they might need to find an alternate route.

Steelers WR Calvin Austin III named Pittsburgh's offseason surprise

One of the biggest questions the Pittsburgh Steelers need to answer in training camp is which wide receiver will win the starting spot opposite DK Metcalf this upcoming season. Heading into training camp, the Steelers are going to have a three-man battle for the spot between Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods and Roman Wilson. ESPN named one offseason surprise for every team after minicamps, and for the Steelers, they picked Austin. Here's what ESPN Steelers writer Brooke Pryor had to say about Austin. Advertisement Since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers are squarely in need of a No. 2 wide receiver to complement DK Metcalf. WR coach Zach Azzanni, though, believes they already have someone in the building to fill that role. "I think that '2' spot is all Calvin's right now," Azzanni said during the Steelers' minicamp. Selected 86 picks after Pickens in 2022, Austin missed his entire rookie year with an injury but has turned into a steady contributor in each of his last two seasons. Austin was just behind Pickens last season, averaging 15.2 yards per reception, and he hauled in four touchdowns to Pickens' three. Austin still has to build chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but he made plays throughout the Steelers' OTAs and minicamp with Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard throwing him the football. If Austin looked the best in offseason work on offense for the Steelers, the next best was fellow receiver Wilson. Wilson missed his entire rookie campaign with an injury and looked tremendous as well. Austin's experience with the team gives him an edge and if he's 100 percent healthy, he should have a very strong season. The Boston Celtics still need to make another trade

The Boston Celtics still need to make another trade. After having dealt away champion vets Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to get under the NBA's dreaded second apron and the penalties the league's collective bargaining agreement (CBA) were due to hit Boston with given their (at the time) potentially historic payroll in a season star forward Jayson Tatum will be out healing from a torn Achilles tendon, getting those cap savings were critical. But the team has since made a few signings that will put them back above the second apron unless they make additional cost-cutting trades. Given what we know about the team building penalties and tax the Celtics are trying to avoid while building a team for the future, it is safe to say more moves are soon to come. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below!
