Escaped Quebec prisoner has ties to southwestern Ontario

OPP are searching for a man accused of escaping a Quebec prison Sat., July 5, 2025. Photo: submitted Provincial police were advised about an escapee from a Quebec correctional institution on Sunday. The Surete du Quebec Police Service said that an inmate convicted in 1992 of murder, had escaped from the Archambault Incarceration Centre in Quebec. The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit is now assisting in this investigation. Police say that the wanted man, Lory Bill Germa, may be in Southwestern Ontario, more specifically in the South Bruce or Hanover areas. Lory Bill Germa, 69, is described as Metis, bald head, brown eyes, five foot eight inches, 165 lbs, with a scar on his left eyebrow. Germa has many tattoos including: a sword, 'Carol', flying skull, seahorses, dragons, grim reaper, cloud and lightning bolts. Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating this man but say if he's observed do not approach him but do immediately contact police at 911. The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released when they become available. Five people are in hospital and a driver has been arrested after a car collided with several parked vehicles and a pedestrian in Scarborough on Sunday night, police and paramedics say. The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. near Passmore Avenue and Middlefield Road, Toronto police said in a post on X on Sunday. The driver, who police say is male, attempted to flee the area before he was arrested. He is in custody and is being investigated for impaired driving. Ten vehicles were involved in the collision, police said. Some of the parked vehicles had people inside, they said. The car also struck a female pedestrian who was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said. Paramedics said five adults in total were taken to hospital, all with minor injuries.

Motorcyclist dies after collision in eastern New Brunswick

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle collision in eastern New Brunswick over the weekend. A 36-year-old man from Riverview has died following a two-vehicle collision near Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B., early Sunday morning. The RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Route 11 between Exit 75 and Exit 64 near Saint-Charles around 3:10 a.m. Police believe the crash happened when a car, which was travelling southbound on Route 11, hit a motorcycle travelling in the same direction. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The Richibucto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office also attended the scene. Both lanes of Route 11 were closed for several hours. The road reopened around 12:30 p.m. Update: Route 11 has since been reopened. — RCMP New Brunswick (@RCMPNB) July 6, 2025 A RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.
