Madbouly calls on government to facilitate privatization efforts
In a meeting earlier today, the prime minister emphasized the need for a clear roadmap and timeline for the process.
He also tasked Minister of Investment Hassan El Khatib with closely monitoring the progress of these stake sales.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the ongoing efforts and instructed officials to move ahead with the offering of military-owned companies, which is part of the government's broader privatization agenda.
This move is aligned with Egypt's State Ownership Policy Document, which aims to strengthen the private sector and drive economic reforms.
Last month, Madbouly announced the government's intention to offer stakes in four military-owned companies in 2025.
These companies are expected to include Wataniya, a filling station operator; Safi, a bottled water producer; Silo Foods, a food manufacturer; and Chill Out, a fuel retailer.
Madbouly confirmed that the IPOs for Wataniya and Safi are expected to take place by mid-2025, while Silo Foods and Chill Out are slated for later in the year.
The PM also highlighted the government's commitment to advancing the privatization process in line with its broader economic reform goals and supporting the private sector's role in driving growth.
Recent privatization efforts have included the sale of a 30 percent stake in the United Bank, raising approximately LE 4.57 billion.
Wataniya and Safi have been part of the government's privatization plans since 2023, with several close calls announced by Madbouly and then Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Said.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has responded to campaigns by some seeking to exploit events in Gaza to malign Egypt and organize hostile campaigns against it, despite its immense efforts to support the Palestinian people, Al-Mal reported. Since the start of the recent conflict in October 2023, we remember that just a few days after the outbreak of this war, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi explicitly stated that Egypt completely rejects the liquidation of the Palestinian cause and will not allow the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.' The Prime Minister stressed that 'Egypt was the first country to say this, and he hopes that everyone remembers all the bilateral meetings the President held on this matter, all of which underscore the constants of the Egyptian position.' Dr. Mostafa Madbouly further elaborated that 'from day one, Egypt immersed itself in negotiations and mediation between the two parties, and we succeeded in brokering the first ceasefire with our partners from Qatar. Egypt has not ceased its mediation efforts, with the participation of our sister nation Qatar, in the hope of ending the war.' The Prime Minister continued: 'We move to the most important point regarding Egypt's plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, which has now become an Arab-Islamic plan. Egypt has always taken the initiative on this issue and in humanitarian aid, and this is not a boast, as 80 percent of the aid that has entered the Gaza Strip so far has been a contribution from the Egyptian government and the Egyptian civil sector. Egypt has not stopped receiving wounded and injured Palestinians, along with their families, and the Egyptian citizen must be aware of these facts.'

PM: 80% of Workforce at El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant "Egyptian"
Taarek Refaat Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant construction site on Wednesday, where he confirmed that Egyptian workers now make up more than 80% of the workforce. The announcement reflects the government's growing emphasis on domestic capacity building in one of the most technically advanced infrastructure projects in the nation's history. Accompanied by the Ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy and Finance, as well as senior officials from the Russian contractor Atomstroyexport and Egypt's Nuclear Power Plants Authority, the Prime Minister marked the occasion by commemorating the 73rd anniversary of Egypt's 1952 revolution. "This site holds deep national significance," Madbouly said. "It has been a dream of Egyptians since the mid-20th century—to see Egypt enter the nuclear era through peaceful energy production." The El-Dabaa project, located on Egypt's northern Mediterranean coast, remained a long-standing aspiration for decades, appearing in school curricula and state planning documents. According to Madbouly, the dream began to turn into action in 2015 with the signing of the initial agreement between Egypt and Russia. Construction officially began in December 2017. The plant will consist of four nuclear reactors with a combined capacity of 4,800 megawatts. The first unit is expected to be operational in the second half of 2028, with the remaining three units scheduled for completion in 2029. Egypt is adhering to a closely monitored construction schedule, with ongoing collaboration between Egyptian and Russian teams. 'We are witnessing this dream become reality,' Madbouly said. 'This is a source of pride for every Egyptian.' The Prime Minister emphasized that more than 80% of the thousands of workers currently on-site are Egyptian, highlighting the nation's growing expertise in large-scale engineering and energy projects. "This is a matter of national pride. Seeing tens of thousands of Egyptian engineers and workers trusted to build such a complex project reflects our true capabilities," he added. The El-Dabaa project plays a key role in Egypt's Vision 2030, which targets a 42% share of electricity generation from renewable and clean energy sources. Nuclear energy is viewed as a critical pillar of this transition. Madbouly concluded his remarks by thanking all partners and agencies involved, expressing confidence in Egypt's ability to deliver on time and within scope.
