Barkley, who helped lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl title last season after leaving the Giants in free agency, was criticized for golfing and traveling with President Donald Trump over the weekend.
The star rusher fired back at his critics in a social media post — and Gardner, a golfer himself, seemingly had some fun with the whole thing and chimed in on a post on X.

'My main thing is why didn't y'all ask him how he played in the golf round first before the political opinions. He coulda PR'd out there on that course,' the Jets corner wrote, presumably about the Barkley situation, along with a grinning face with sweat emoji.
Barkley had played a round of golf with the President at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Sunday – the day before the Eagles' visit to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl title from earlier this year.

The Eagles' running back had also been photographed at the White House on Sunday with Trump's grandson, Theodore Kushner, and was seen getting off Marine One at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey with Trump before boarding Air Force One.
Barkley responded to the criticism in a post on X on Monday ahead of the team's White House visit.
'Lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,' he wrote. 'Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump! 'Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.'

Both Barkley and Gardner have taken up golf, with the running back having picked up the sport back in the summer of 2021 and the Jets' corner getting bit by the golf bug last summer.
Gardner had posted a series of golf content on his YouTube channel earlier this year, which included a video of him trying to break par at Trump National Doral.

Steelers Insider Sounds Off After TJ Watt's Huge Extension
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Pittsburgh Steelers took their time in contract discussions with superstar pass rusher T.J. Watt. While the situation took a lot longer to figure out than fans would have liked, the end result was what everyone was hoping to see. Watt agreed to a massive three-year, $123 million contract extension this week. Keeping Watt in town was a huge priority for the Steelers. For a team that has had an entire offseason dedicated to competing for a championship, he was the final piece to the puzzle. T.J. Read more: Browns' Shedeur Sanders Receives Potential Date for First Career Start One Pittsburgh insider sounded off with his thoughts on the matter. He made an extremely bold guarantee regarding Watt. Ray Fittipaldo of the Pitsburgh Post-Gazette did not hold back when revealing what he's expecting from the veteran superstar. "They're betting on him to perform," Fittipaldo said. "Let's take out the torn pec year. Every other year, except for his rookie year, he's in double-digit sacks ... So if he is not injured, I think the Steelers are guaranteed to get double-digit sacks out of him for the remainder of this contract. And I think if he's right, you're probably talking 15, 16 a year based on what he's done in the past." Looking back at last season when Watt did deal with some nagging injury issues, he still played in all 17 games. He racked up 61 total tackles to go along with 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. There is no reason to think that he would produce any less than that in 2025. Read more: NFL Legend Reveals Strong Opinion of Colts QB Anthony Richardson At least for now, the Steelers should be viewed as a top-tier Super Bowl contender in the AFC. With Aaron Rodgers leading the offense along with DK Metcalf and the addition of Jalen Ramsey defensively, the team looks good. If Watt can come in and dominate defensively like he has throughout his career thus far, Pittsburgh will be in a great place. Fittipaldo is likely on the right track with his expectations for the 30-year-old pass rusher this season. Everything will begin for the new-look Steelers in Week 1 on September 7 with a road matchup against the New York Jets. For more Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Interesting Details of Eagles' Super Bowl Ring Explained
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles got to celebrate their Super Bowl victory once again. The 2024 roster gathered in Philly for a party, and each player received their unique-styled rings, designed by Jason of Beverly Hills. As always, the ring has plenty of important details that tell the story of the Eagles' entire 2024 season. Diamonds are a Bird's best friend — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 In the word "Champions," there are 40 points of diamonds to represent the Eagles' points scored in the Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. On the wings of the rings, there are 0.9 carats to represent the six sacks and three takeaways in the Super Bowl. As dominant as the two-way effort was, the Eagles' defense was absolutely critical as they shut down the MVP-caliber quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. In order to get to the Super Bowl, the Eagles had a dominant regular season, which helped them gain home-field advantage in the postseason for the first round, at least. The bracket ended up giving them a home game for each playoff matchup. After a 2-2 start, they fired off 10 wins in a row, which proved to the NFL they were the real deal. On the Super Bowl LIX logo, there are 10 points of diamonds to represent that streak. In total, the Eagles finished the year with 18 wins. Therefore, there are 18 green stones on the ring. On the inside of the ring, there is a Brazilian flag, which is where the season started. Although it was an Eagles home game, the team played one of the few international games this year. The Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in Brazil to kick off their big year. Right under the flag is a motto, inspired by the head coach, Nick Sirianni. "Tough, Detailed, Together," it says. Under the motto is a list of scores throughout the Eagles' playoff run, which included games against the Packers, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, and the Chiefs. The No. 145 represents the Eagles' NFL record of most points scored in the postseason. Perhaps, the most popular part of the ring is the wings. With the hit of a button, they pop out. The five diamonds on the button are there to represent the five players who scored points in the Super Bowl (Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Cooper DeJean, DeVonta Smith, and Jake Elliott). It's all in the details — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 Lastly, the wings have a hidden message, which also comes from Sirianni: "You can't be great without the greatness of others." While Sirianni has dealt with a lot of criticism throughout his tenure with the Eagles, he has overcome all of that and shines as a motivator within the organization. Clearly, his messages have stuck with the team and will remain with them forever, as the Super Bowl ring sheds light on those mottos. Super Bowl champ says he'd ask Trump to help get Redskins nickname back
Jason Buck was a defensive lineman for the Washington Redskins when the team topped the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI during the 1991 season. The Redskins' name changed in 2020 to the Washington Football Team and then to the Washington Commanders. As the team begins to build a legacy as the Commanders, team owner Josh Harris has no plans of going back to the old name. President Donald Trump recently suggested that he believed the organization made a mistake changing the name. Buck, a Native American, told TMZ Sports he wants to talk to Trump about the name and would tell him, "Stand with us and stand for common sense. "It's like your grandma passed away, and your grandpa marries a new woman, and she comes in and takes all the pictures out of the house and puts hers up," he added. "It's like, you just lost your family. It was devastating to everybody." Commanders owner Josh Harris told Bret Baier on "Special Report" in April that, despite his plan to bring the team back to Washington, D.C., at the site of the old RFK Stadium, the Redskins name wouldn't be coming back. "The Commanders' name actually has taken on an amazing kind of element in our building," Harris said. "So, the people that certain types of players that are tough, that love football, are delegated Commanders, and Jayden [Daniels], for example, is a Commander, and they're ranked. "And, you know, the business staff has gotten into it, and, obviously, we're in a military city here. There's more military personnel than anywhere else. So, we're kind of moving forward with the Commanders name, excited about that and not looking back." While he may not have changed the name, Trump thinks any team that wins will stick with fans no matter what. That's exactly what Washington did last season, reaching the NFC championship game for the first time in almost three decades under new quarterback Jayden Daniels. "But, you know, winning can make everything sound good," Trump said earlier this month. "So, if they're winning, all of a sudden Commanders sounds good. But I wouldn't have changed the name."
