He said this one-off assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) programme, will be credited via MyKad for purchases of essential goods between Aug 31 and Dec 31 at 4,100 stores nationwide. 'This initiative, which involves an allocation of RM2 billion, is expected to benefit 22 million citizens. 'This marks the first time such universal assistance is being rolled out,' he said in a special live broadcast today. He added that RM2 billion allocation raises the total allocation for the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sara programmes from RM13 billion to RM15 billion for this year. The Prime Minister said the assistance will be distributed on an individual basis where recipients will be able to purchase goods at the participating outlets, including major supermarkets such as Mydin, Lotus, Econsave, and 99 Speedmart, as well as local grocery stores in every district across the country. 'For instance, a household comprising a husband, wife and two adult children would receive a total of RM400,' he said. He also said that if any individuals do not claim the assistance by the end of the year, the government intends to channel any unutilised funds to be redistributed to support vulnerable and lower-income groups through assistance programmes next year. On Jualan Rahmah Madani, Anwar said the government will double the allocation for this initiative from RM300 million to RM600 million for this year. 'This additional allocation will, among others, increase the frequency and expand the number of sales locations across the country, covering all 600 state constituencies. 'In addition, the variety of goods offers will be increased to provide more options for the people,' he said. anwar ibrahim cash assistance Sumbangan Asas Rahmah
