Matildas star Charli Grant opens up about overcoming the huge problem in her love life with her fiancé
Grant, 23, is engaged to Lachlan Cameron, who was previously based in Adelaide.
Cameron has since moved to London in a bid to be closer to his future wife - and the Tottenham defender is thankful for the sacrifice he made.
'It (long distance) was really difficult,' Grant said. It was (also) hard (for both of us) with the time difference.
'We would only be able to speak just before I went off to training and then he would be asleep by the time I finished training. 'So it was only small doses of the day.'
The couple got engaged in December last year, and Grant admitted now having her partner in the United Kingdom is 'really special.'
'I've been through some difficult moments, and some really exciting moments with my football....so to have him there by my side to just give me a cuddle when I need a shoulder to cry on or someone to celebrate with is great,' Grant told News Corp.
She added both her and Cameron 'aren't the best planners' - before confirming their upcoming wedding - in Australia - will be based around her football schedule, which can be at times chaotic.
Meanwhile, after playing just 396 minutes across 10 matches for Spurs in the Women's Super League 2024-25 season, Grant is determined to hit the ground running ahead of the new campaign.
The club are yet to announce their new head coach, with Robert Vilahamn sacked after Tottenham finished 11th this season.
Grant also has a new Matildas boss in Joe Montemurro, with her motivation sky high ahead of the Asian Cup on home soil next year.
It comes after Grant was overlooked for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
'When you do miss out on things (selection), it just gives you that fire and drive to prove them wrong, and to show you do deserve that opportunity,' she said ahead of two recent international home matches against Argentina.
'In a way, you've just got to turn it into a positive and just use it as energy to make yourself better.
'The Asian Cup I'll definitely be working towards, trying to just be part of the squad.
'But to break into that starting line-up, that is a goal of mine.'

England to host next three World Test Championship finals
England will stage the next three World Test Championship finals, the International Cricket Council has announced. All of the first three showpieces have been held in England, most recently last month with Lord's the venue as South Africa were crowned champions for the first time by defeating holders Australia. Nearly 110,000 people went through the gates of the so-called home of cricket over the course of a Test that lasted four days, although India were reportedly keen to stage the next edition in two years' time. The influence the country wields in global cricket affairs led to the assumption India would get their wish but England have instead been awarded the finals of the 2027, 2029 and 2031 editions by the ICC. At its annual conference in Singapore, the ICC noted England's "successful track record in hosting recent finals", even though Ben Stokes' side are yet to reach the one-off, winner-takes-all showdown. England finished fifth in the 2023-25 cycle although they were deducted 22 points - by far the most of the nine teams involved - for slow over-rates. Without those punishments, they would have placed third. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive Richard Gould said: "We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship finals. "It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games. "Hosting these finals is a privilege, and we look forward to working with the ICC to build on the success of the previous editions." Also on the agenda for the ICC in southeast Asia was an update on the support for the displaced women's cricketers of Afghanistan, many of whom were forced into exile when the Taliban returned to power in 2021 and effectively outlawed female sport. Amid increasing political pressure for the global game to act, the ICC formed a task force in April also involving the ECB, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Australia (CA). The ICC confirmed the programme "aims to deliver structured support through high-performance initiatives, domestic playing opportunities, and engagement at key ICC global events". It is understood Afghanistan women's cricketers, many of whom are now living in Australia, could attend this year's 50-over World Cup in India and the 2026 T20 World Cup in England and engage with the teams there, although details are still to be ironed out.

Cameras captured Hasler's explosive tirade following the match as he was seen ordering some of them to get out of the showers. Players looked on in shock as a clearly furious Hasler unleashed at some of his stars, although it is not known what he was saying. The result piles more pressure on Hasler, with Gold Coast now officially out of finals contention and alone in last place on the NRL ladder. Speaking post-game to media, Hasler was particularly unhappy with the side's second half. 'We go out and bumble, we fumble, we throw balls over the sideline and get carried over the sideline,' he said. 'We can't land on the bouncing ball. We miss tackles and complete nine from 15 [sets]. 'I'm really disappointed with that performance. It was pretty dumb.' Meanwhile, finals action also looks unlikely for the Tigers, despite the victory. They would need to go undefeated though the final seven rounds to have any hope of snapping a 14-year drought. But another spoon now at least appears out the window, up in 12th spot and four points clear of the Titans, with a bye still in hand. 'It's more frustrations around where we think we could have been, where we could be, and where we are,' Benji Marshall said. 'It was important to get the two points today. I don't want to say about how we got it, but we got it. 'If I'm being honest I thought today was our worst game. We didn't play anywhere near our standard of doing things. Former England international Tindall, who is now part of the British Royal Family, was at the match as the special guest of Queensland coach Billy Slater. Tindall is married to Zara Tindall - daughter of Princess Anne and granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II - and they have three children together. He also became close friends with Slater after they crossed paths at a polo event in Queensland back in January 2024. The 46-year-old is a key ambassador for the breakaway rugby union competition R360, which needs to sign 200 players by September and is actively eyeing NRL talent. With the NRL expanding from 17 to 19 teams in the next few years, competition for players is fierce - and Tindall's involvement hints at a looming recruitment war between league and rebel rugby. R360 - short for Rugby 360 - is a proposed global, franchise-based league set to launch in September 2026. Co-founded by Tindall, it's backed by investors from Saudi Arabia, the US, UK, and elite sports franchises like Premier League, F1 and NFL. Penrith Panthers and NSW Blues star Nathan Cleary could be another target, given he has already achieved it all in the NRL and has previously been the subject of speculation about making a switch to union It aims to bring together around 300 top international players in eight men's and four women's teams. The competition would be scheduled across 16 rounds in condensed seasons split between April–June and August–September to avoid clashing with international windows. The concept borrows from the IPL cricket and LIV Golf models, featuring city-based teams, entertainment-packed match days, and seven-figure salaries for stars. Already a host of NRL players have been linked to the rebel competition. Newcastle Knights star Kalyn Ponga could be a major target for R360, especially given his recent openness to exploring options outside rugby league and previous experience playing the 15-a-side game. Ryan Papenhuyzen is reportedly one of their top targets, with the Melbourne Storm fullback said to be weighing a multi-million dollar offer as his current deal ends in 2026. New Zealand Warriors star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has also attracted interest, with reports suggesting he could be offered a contract worth around $1.5million per season. speculation around a potential $3million annual offer - figures well beyond what the NRL salary cap can accommodate.
