Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder owes R6 million to SARS

You think only FC Barcelona players dodged tax? Think again, Kaizer Chiefs star Gaston Sirino has a big bill to pay with SARS.
Several household names in the football world have faced tax-evasion charges.
Four players are leaving Kaizer Chiefs
33-year-old Uruguayan Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino has ignored a request from SARS to pay R6 million in unpaid taxes. That's according to Sunday World .
'According to the records of the South African Revenue Service, you have failed to pay your tax debt for one or more tax years and tax periods… You are requested to make full payment within 10 days from the date of this letter of demand,' the letter read, as per Sunday World.
'Failure to make full payment or use the above remedies may result in the following actions and possibly others: Sars may appoint any third party who presently or in the future will owe you money or hold money for you to settle your tax debt with this money.
'A civil judgment is being entered against you, in which case a warrant of execution may be issued for the sheriff of the court to attach and sell your assets.' Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Sirino has a huge debt with the Revenue Services. Image: Shutterstock
30-year-old Edmilson Dove is the latest casualty. The club has announced that the Mozambican defender will leave at the end of this month. Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel are the preferred options in central defence. Meanwhile, Paseka Mako is expected to arrive and challenge Bradley Cross for the left-back role.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Asante Kotoko: Date, Kick-Off Time, Predicted XI

Kaizer Chiefs supporters will get a chance to see the club's new signings in action in South Africa for the first time this coming weekend. Amakhosi have recently concluded their pre-season tour to the Netherlands, where they played against several top teams. In the five matches played, the Soweto giants won once and lost four times. On Saturday, Nasreddine Nabi will hope to finalise a few combinations as his team clashes with Asante Kotoko of Ghana. The match between Amakhosi and Asante Kotoko will be played on 26 July at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The kick-off is scheduled for 15:00, and match tickets are available online via Opentickets for R80 and in-store at Shoprite, Checkers, and uSave outlets nationwide. Brandon Petersen appears to be Nabi's first-choice keeper, so expect to see him in goal. Defenders Miguel Inacio is set to be the new Amakhosi captain and will definitely start alongside Aden McCarthy, who impressed during pre-season. At right back, Reeve Frosler or Thabo Monyane could slot in depending on what type of game Chiefs want to play. Bradley Cross is more likely to start ahead of Nkanyiso Shinga at left-back. Kaizer Chiefs don't have a lot of options in that position. Midfield Thabo Cele and Sibongesini Mthethwa could start in the heart of midfield with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo operating in front of them. The likes of Siphesihle Ndlovu, Mduduzi Shalalala and Ethan Chislett might start on the bench. Forwards Makabi Lilepo will no doubt start on the right with new striker Flavio Silva predicted to start upfront. On the left wing, Kaizer Chiefs might play Pule Mmodi. Kaizer Chiefs face challenging start to the season with tough fixture list as trip to Mamelodi Sundowns looms large

Kaizer Chiefs face a challenging start to the Betway Premiership season with tough fixtures against Stellenbosch FC, Polokwane City, Richards Bay, and champions Mamelodi Sundowns in August, as they aim to improve on their previous league performances. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Media Though Kaizer Chiefs will not be involved in the opening weekend of local football action in the MTN8, they will still have their work cut out from the outset in their new Betway Premiership campaign. With Chiefs having finished outside the top eight in the league the last two seasons, there are increased expectations that the Soweto Giants will produce a much better showing. Even though Chiefs won their first piece of silverware with the Nedbank Cup title last season, it did not hide their underperformance in the league. Now, Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will have to ensure his troops hit the ground running from their first clash.
