Why did Real Madrid drop Moroccan prodigy Abdellah Ouazane?

Morocco World3 days ago
Abdellah Ouazane, 17, was on the brink of becoming a Real Madrid player. The Ajax wonderkid, who dazzled at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, had reportedly agreed terms and was set to join Los Blancos' youth ranks. But just before the official announcement, the deal was scrapped.
Spanish journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon revealed that Ouazane failed to pass his medical, citing unspecified concerns. AS confirmed in the report, stating that the medical was 'non-conclusive,' prompting Madrid to pull the plug.

The collapse of the deal has reopened doors for other suitors. Paris Saint-Germain, long interested in the midfielder, may now pounce. So could Manchester United and Barcelona, both of whom had been tracking his progress.
Ajax, sensing the opportunity, have tabled a new contract offer – his fourth. The Dutch club, where he was developed, previously held back in hopes of cashing in. Now, they're eager to retain him. The proposal would see Ouazane play for the Ajax U23 side in the Dutch second tier while training with the senior squad.
Despite the Madrid hiccup, Ouazane remains one of Morocco's most exciting young talents. He scored four goals in 16 appearances last season and was voted MVP of the U17 AFCON. Tags: Abdellah OuazaneAjax AmsterdamReal Madrid

FC Barcelona Cancel Japan Pre-Season Friendly

Barcelona have cancelled their pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe in Japan due to what the club described as a 'serious breach of contract by the promoter' The Spanish club was due to fly to Asia this Thursday, with the match scheduled for Sunday. According to AS , the promoter failed to pay the full amount of the agreed fee, from which Barça were expecting at least €15 million. 'Only a portion has been received,' the club said in a statement. 'As a result, FC Barcelona have been forced to suspend their participation.' The club has apologised to its fans who were looking forward to the match and expressed regret over the incident and its impact on Barça supporters in Japan. 'The club will consider re-adjusting this leg of the summer tour if certain conditions are met by the promoter,' they added. 'If these conditions are met, the team will travel to South Korea in the coming days.' Despite the cancellation of the Vissel Kobe friendly, two friendlies in South Korea are still scheduled on July 31 and August 4, but also remain under review. Raúl Asencio Reaches Settlement in Child Pornography Case

Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has reached a settlement over his alleged involvement in sharing explicit videos without consent. The 22-year-old was charged alongside three former Real Madrid academy players with distributing child pornography and unlawfully sharing private content. The case relates to videos recorded in 2023 in the Canary Islands, where two women – then aged 16 and 18 – were filmed during sexual encounters without their knowledge. Asencio was not present during the incidents but is accused of later showing the footage to others. Under the reported agreement with the victims, Asencio's actions would be classed as a minor offence, likely resulting in a fine rather than jail time. This would separate his case from the ongoing prosecution of the three other defendants. However, Spanish prosecutors are still pursuing criminal charges against all four men. Investigators have recommended a four-year prison sentence for Asencio. The private prosecutors representing the victims had sought sentences of four years and ten months for the three main defendants – none of whom is at Real Madrid. Asencio has maintained his innocence, issuing a statement in May denying any criminal activity. Real Madrid have continued to support the player, including providing legal assistance. The defender recently signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2031. His case remains pending final resolution in court. Tags: PornographyRaúl AsencioReal Madrid
