Piyush Goyal outlines top highlights of Commerce and Industry Ministry in last 10 days
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday outlined the key highlights pertaining to his ministry in the last 10 days.
In a post on X, the minister said that the productive visit to the UK marked with negotiation meetings and discussions focused on implementing the comprehensive and mutually beneficial FTA aimed at boosting bilateral trade, creating jobs, and further strengthening economic ties.
He said Vanijya Bhawan celebrated its third anniversary.'The complex is rapidly becoming a hub for innovation, boosting commerce, and enhancing transparency, driving us closer to Viksit Bharat 2047,' the minister said.
The Commerce and Industry Ministry held a crucial stakeholder meeting with the MSME sector on Quality Control Orders. Feedback was gathered to ensure a more collaborative and inclusive standard-setting process, emphasizing a quality mindset for global competitiveness.
A key review meeting on the PLI scheme highlighted the need for quality skilled manpower and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks. The scheme is progressing across 14 key sectors, enhancing self-reliance in manufacturing.'Aimed at empowering 1 million entrepreneurs across Tier II, Tier III, and rural India, an MoU has been signed with a private digital platform. Bharat Project will leverage AI-powered tools, venture launchpads, and regional language storytelling to help scale the next generation of entrepreneurs,' the Minister said.
Goyal said import restrictions have been issued on certain precious metal alloys containing gold. These are alloys of palladium, rhodium, and iridium containing more than 1 per cent gold by weight. This has been done to regulate the import of gold in the garb of chemical compounds, the minister said.'For the first time, fresh jamuns have been exported from India to the UK. The consignment has been sent from Karnataka to London, marking yet another milestone in empowering our farmers,' he added. (ANI)

Bangladesh Police arrest 5 accused for raping Hindu woman, circulating victim's video
Dhaka [Bangladesh], June 29 (ANI): Bangladesh Police have arrested five people accused of raping a Hindu woman in a remote village of Comilla district and circulating her video on social media. A video that has gone viral on social media shows a naked woman pleading for the protection of her dignity. 'On June 26, Fajr Ali Fajr (36), father - Shahid Mia, of Ramchadrapur Panchkitta village under Muradnagar police station of Comilla district, was detained and beaten by the people of the area on charges of raping the wife of an expatriate from the same village,' Police said in a statement. 'Later, the injured Fajr Ali fled from there. Some people present at the scene immediately recorded a video of the victim and spread it on social media,' it added. 'A case has been registered at Muradnagar Police Station in this regard. The police have arrested the accused Fajr Ali and four others who captured the video,' the statement said. Legal action is being taken against the five individuals who were arrested, police said. Earlier on May 31, a human chain and protest march was organised by various organisations in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka to protest the violence and torture being perpetrated against religious minorities and ethnic communities across Bangladesh, Sammilita Sanatan Parishad, a minority alliance, said in a statement. Addressing a weekly media briefing in New Delhi on June 27, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the interim government has to protect Hindus and other minorities. Jaiswal, while speaking in the context of damage to Durga Temple, said, 'Let me underline that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus, their properties, and religious institutions.' Earlier on May 16, thousands of Bangladeshi women's rights activists gathered at Manik Mia Avenue near the Parliament building in Dhaka to demand equal rights and dignity for women. The rally, held under the slogan 'A march of solidarity at the call of women' (Nariya Dake Maitri Yatra), aimed to protest against attempts to deprive women of their rights in the name of religion. Gurugram (Haryana) [India], June 29 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda were among those who listened to the 123rd episode of PM Narendra Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' in Gurugram on Sunday. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also present during the occassion. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the program in Dehradun, whereas Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak did so in Lucknow. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan listened to the 'Mann ki Baat' program in North 24 Parganas, whereas Bihar Deputy Chief Miniseters Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha listened to the program in Patna. Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 123rd episode of his monthly radio address condemned the imposition of Emergency in the country and termed the period as one of the darkest chapters in India's democratic history. He said that the country is observing the 50th anniversary of the Emergency as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas'. During the programme, PM Modi played rare archival audio clips of former Prime Ministers Morarji Desai, Babu Jagjivan Ram and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who described the Emergency as a time of constitutional murder, mass arrests, and the suppression of civil liberties and press freedom. Prime Minister Modi asserted that every citizen should remember the ones who fought 'bravely' against the Emergency and it also inspires us to stay 'vigilant' to 'safeguard' the constitution. 'Morarji Desai describes the Emergency in brief... Not only did those who imposed the Emergency murder democracy, but their intention was to keep the judiciary as their puppet... Under 'MISA', anyone was arrested arbitrarily, people were tortured... Indians refused to compromise on democracy. Finally, people won and the Emergency was lifted. Babu Jagjivan Ram powerfully about this...' PM Modi said. In the audio clip of Morarji Desai, the former Prime Minister is heard recounting the horrors of the Emergency. Desai is heard saying in the clip played by PM Modi in his radio address, 'When the Emergency was imposed, people were treated inhumanely. Their right to freedom was snatched away, newspapers were silenced, and the judiciary was rendered powerless. Over one lakh people were jailed. Such an arbitrary rule is rare even in world history.' OM Modi also addressed various other topics such as the eradication of eye disease trachoma, the recent celebration of international Yoga Day and women-led development enterprises shaping New India. PM Modi praises contributions of Doctors and CAs in 123rd Mann ki Baat
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the invaluable contributions of both Doctors and Chartered Accountants (CAs) while addressing the country during the 123rd edition of the monthly program Mann ki Baat and called attention to how both professions are such 'pillars of society,' with one being protectors of health and other being guides of economic life. Acknowledging their importance ahead of July 1, which marks both National Doctors' Day and Chartered Accountants' Day, the Prime Minister said, 'On the 1st of July, the day after tomorrow, we honour two very important professions - Doctors and CAs. Both of them are such pillars of society, which make our lives better. Doctors are the protectors of our health and CAs (Chartered Accountants) are the guides of economic life. My best wishes to all the Doctors and Chartered Accountants.' Notably, the Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of protecting and preserving the environment, as the country celebrated World Environment Day earlier, just as one would their health. 'This month, we all celebrated the 'World Environment Day'. I received thousands of your messages. Many people told me about those friends who had set out alone to save the environment and then the whole society joined them. This contribution of everyone is becoming a great strength for our earth,' the PM said. Highlighting various examples of people from across the country, he added, 'Ramesh Kharmale of Pune... knowing about his work will inspire you a lot. When people take rest at the end of the week, Ramesh ji and his family set out with a pickaxe and a spade. Do you know where to? Towards the hills of Junnar. Be it sunshine or a steep climb, their ascent does not stop. They clear bushes, dig trenches to retain water and sow seeds. They dug 70 trenches in just two months.' Talking about another initiative, the PM talked about Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, where the Municipal Corporation has started the 'Mission for Million Trees' campaign. The target is to plant lakhs of trees. A special aspect about this campaign is 'Sindoor Van'. He also dedicated the campaign to the soldiers who participated in Operation Sindoor. 'This forest is dedicated to the bravehearts of Operation Sindoor. Sindoor saplings are being planted in the memory of those brave people who have sacrificed everything for the country. Here, another campaign is being given a new impetus - 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. Under this campaign, crores of trees have been planted in the country. You too must take part in such campaigns going on in your village or city,' he said.
