You'll Probably Be Using Some Of These Gadgets From MCW 2025 Very Soon

Mobile World Congress ended on Thursday, and the annual Barcelona trade show for the mobile communications industry was yet again host to a number of gadget debuts that generated online hype.
Here are six tech gadgets from MWC Barcelona that got the internet buzzing.
Xiaomi debuted its latest Xiaomi 15 Ultra phone to a chorus of enthusiasm.
The China-based company partnered up with camera manufacturer Leica to boost the phone's photography game, and give it a competitive advantage over its rivals. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra boasts a next-gen quad camera system and a Summilux optical lens that gives photos a professional look.
The phone also has Qualcomm's (QCOM) latest processor — the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, and a slew of AI integrations — including Google's (GOOGL) Gemini — built into the phone.
It goes on sale later this month, starting at roughly $1,623 (€1,499).
Fancy phone lenses were all the rage in Barcelona this year.
Chinese phone maker RealMe unveiled a brand new concept phone that you can transform into a high-end mirrorless camera by attaching interchangeable lenses via an adapter.
The phone, which is currently just a concept device, features two DSLR-like lenses: a 73mm and a much bigger 234mm, equivalent to 3x and 10x DSLR-level optical zooms.
'This is more than just a concept; it is a promise of what's to come,' RealMe head of product marketing Francis Wong said in the company's unboxing video.
Lenovo (LNVGY) introduced a ThinkBook AI PC called 'codename Flip' at the MWC 2025, although it is as of yet still an early concept.
This PC not only boasts AI-powered workflows thanks to an Intel (INTC) Core Ultra 7 processor, but it also has a bending OLED display that folds outwards, enabling the ThinkBook to transform from a compact 13-inch laptop to a vertically expanded 18.1-inch screen, ideal for document viewing. Or you can fold the screen backwards to 'Share mode,' when you're working with someone else sitting across the table from you and want to share your screen with them, or you can fold all the screens in to resemble a tablet.
Although it was first unveiled in January at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung's latest Galaxy S25 phones — and particularly the Edge model, which Samsung deemed its thinnest yet — stole the spotlight.
We still don't know much about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Visitors at the MWC 2025 didn't receive any information on it, and were not allowed to touch it. But we do know that like the rest of the Galaxy S25 series, and much like the other buzzy phones debuted at MWC, it will have a host of AI integration features (including built-in Google Gemini features) and advanced camera technology.
The super-thin phone is likely to launch in the coming months, as rival Apple (AAPL) is also reportedly readying to unveil a super-thin phone of its own with the highly anticipated and rumored iPhone 17 Air.
Lenovo also caught attention with another concept: a PC that runs on solar energy.
The device has a solar panel that leverages 'black contact cell' technology to achieve an over 24% conversion rate, which Lenovo claims is 'one of the highest in the industry.' Just 20 minutes of direct sunlight can power the PC for one hour of video playback, according to the company. That means if you live somewhere that gets enough sunlight, you might not need to worry about charging ports and cables if you want to work outside on a bright day.
Much like the foldable Flip PC, Lenovo's Yoga Solar PC is still an early concept and the company didn't share a production plan.
London-based Nothing's new 3A and 3A Pro smartphones were all the rage in Barcelona this week, and not just for their AI features, which include an assistant that compiles important information from photos and screenshots you deem essential. The phones also drew attention for their fun designs and relatively low price point.
The phones, which boast a futuristic-looking translucent back and LED lights that flash whenever you receive a notification, start at $379 for the 3A and $459 for the 3A Pro. Both devices are available now for pre-order in the U.S., as part of the company's beta launch in the U.S. market.

Time is running out to save on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launch Friday, July 25th. That's soon! Even if you're not the type of person who usually pre-orders things, there's good reason to consider doing it before then. The biggest perk is that you'll get upgraded to the 512GB version of either device without paying the usual $119.99 premium, and trade-in values will be better before the launch versus after. The ability to get more for less expires at the end of tomorrow, July 24th. As you might expect, each retailer and carrier is doing things a little bit differently with pre-orders. Of all your options, buying directly through Samsung may be the way to go. If you have a trade-in, you can save about half off your new device. If you aren't trading up, you can instantly get $350 in Samsung credit to buy a Galaxy Watch 8, or something else. My colleague Allison Johnson recently published her review of the Z Fold 7. Its biggest flaw is just how darn expensive it is, costing $1,999.99 for those who aren't trading or taking advantage of a carrier promotion. If you can get past that (hopefully, you find a deal that works for you), this is as polished as foldable phones come these days. Stay tuned for her review of the Z Flip 7. It costs a pretty penny, but the Z Fold 7 is Samsung's finest foldable yet. When it's closed it's basically the size of a regular phone, so the big 8-inch inner screen feels like it's all upside. Samsung and Google should learn a thing or two from Apple's new all-in-one device protection plan

TL;DR Apple has launched AppleCare One, a subscription plan that covers up to three Apple devices for $19.99/month. Users can add more devices to the plan for $5.99 per month for each extra device. Subscribers can add existing eligible devices (up to four years old!) to the plan, and the plan automatically transfers coverage with device trade-ins. Unlike one-device plans from rivals, like Samsung Care Plus or Google Preferred Care, AppleCare One simplifies multi-device management under one subscription for its most loyal userbase. It's a familiar scenario: the heart-stopping moment your expensive smartphone slips out of your hand or from your pocket. Even as phones become more resilient, they're still highly vulnerable to accidental damage, making smartphone protection plans a near necessity for many. Major players like phone makers, carriers, and retailers all offer ways to safeguard your device. But Apple is taking a significant leap forward with AppleCare One, a newly announced umbrella plan that covers multiple devices under one subscription. Love it or hate it, AppleCare One does set a new standard that Samsung and Google could well emulate for their own devices. AppleCare One simplifies protection plan management Apple has unveiled AppleCare One, an umbrella AppleCare plan that protects multiple Apple products. For $19.99 monthly, Apple users can protect up to three products within one plan. If you have more Apple devices, and chances are that you do if you are dipped in the Apple ecosystem, you can add more for $5.99 per month for each device. If you trade in a covered device directly to Apple, it is automatically removed from the AppleCare One plan and is replaced with the new device. AppleCare One includes all of the benefits of AppleCare Plus, including unlimited accident repairs and battery coverage. What's notable is that AppleCare One also expands theft and loss protection beyond the iPhone to cover the iPad and Apple Watch. Note that the fine print in the screenshot says that users will be allowed three claims under AppleCare One, with claim limits being reset every 12 months. Since AppleCare One has a singular pricing structure regardless of the product, customers can enroll their iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch to save $11 per month as opposed to enrolling each in separate AppleCare Plus plans. The cherry on top with AppleCare One is that customers can add products they already own that are up to four years old if they are in good condition (with the exception being headphones that must be less than a year old). Apple already provides a 60-day window post-purchase to add AppleCare Plus, but this window has been significantly expanded with AppleCare One, subject to diagnostic checks. Believe it or not, customers exploit this window to avoid otherwise expensive mistakes with their brand-new phones, so it remains to be seen whether Apple has added any new guardrails here. Note that users can add only the devices that are present in their Apple account, so this isn't a family plan. Samsung and Google need to bring in their own version of AppleCare One Robert Triggs / Android Authority Samsung and Google offer protection plans in the US through Samsung Care Plus and Google Preferred Care, respectively. However, these plans must be purchased per-product at the time of purchase. Both Samsung and Google have expansive ecosystems of products, and buying a protection plan for each device and keeping track of it is cumbersome. There's also the matter of device trade-ins, with benefits not passing onto the newly purchased product. Apple's AppleCare One solves all of this, and I feel Samsung and Google should come up with a similar umbrella plan to cover all the devices in their respective product ecosystems. If priced right, it can get more people to cover more of their devices, which is a good revenue stream. More importantly, it will simplify the experience for the company's most loyal fans, and this is the userbase you want to keep the happiest. Would you buy an AppleCare One-like plan for your Android ecosystem devices? 0 votes Yes, an umbrella protection plan sounds amazing for covering all my devices! NaN % No, I prefer individual protection plans, only for devices I need them on. NaN % No, I don't buy protection plans for any of my devices. NaN % Got a tip? Talk to us!
