Apple fans rush for 22% off AirPods Pro 2 as Amazon Prime Day sale begins

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Amazon Prime Day is here and Apple's best earbuds are on sale at their lowest price in a year
Amazon's Prime Week is here - and for Apple fans wanting to snap up a deal, the AirPods Pro 2 are up for grabs for a bargain price but shoppers might want to be quick.
Yes, one of the most popular Apple earbuds is currently £179 —the cheapest price in the past year, according to Amazon. In total, Apple fans can enjoy a big 22 per cent discount.
The Apple AirPods Pro 2 are the best-in-class noise-cancelling earbuds on the market—perfect for busy commutes, travelling, or just zoning out all the background noise.
The Pro 2s also have the new H2 chip helps to create deeply immersive sound. The low-distortion, custom-built driver delivers crisp, clear high notes and full, rich bass in stunning definition. Voice Isolation improves the quality of phone calls in loud conditions. They also cuts out more background noise to protect your hearing.
They can even be used to check your hearing, following a free update introduced in February this year. The Hearing Aid feature includes a clinically validated hearing test and a hearing profile that applies to all the music and podcasts you listen to.
But there are plenty of alternatives on the market to choose from., both discounted in Amazon's biggest sale of the year and elsewhere. For a cheaper price, the JBL Tune Beam Wireless Bluetooth Noise-Cancelling Earbuds in black for £49.99 and provide noise-cancelling at a much cheaper price as well as 12 hours of battery life.

Meanwhile, on Amazon, Soundcore by Anker P20i wireless earbuds have been reduced by 47% to £15.98. The budget model has an average of 4.4 stars out of 5 from more than 65,000 reviews. But for shoppers with their heart set on an Apple bargain there's also the AirPods 4, which are currently £129 on Amazon - Apple's cheaper but more recently updated earbuds - although they have no noise-cancellation built-in.
Our tech reviewers over at the Daily Express reviewed the Apple AirPods Pro 2 when they released - and they got the top score thanks to the amazing sound and noise-cancellation.
Tech editor Dave Snelling said: "AirPods Pro 2 arrive with superior noise-cancellation, better sound quality, longer battery life, and a new way to find them when they (inevitably) disappear down the side of your sofa. Apple has also added the ability to control volume from the stem of each AirPod, which saves you the hassle of reaching for your iPhone when you want to pump the bass.
"Elsewhere, AirPods Pro 2 – also known as "2nd Generation" – can be recharged using an Apple Watch charger (as well as Lightning cable, and standard Qi wireless charging) and can be used with a lanyard loop to attach to your belongings.
"We've been wearing the new AirPods Pro 2 on our daily commute, and they sound very impressive. Sound is rich, plus the improved Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC) cuts out almost all annoying background noise, so you won't have to have your favourite album, audiobook or podcast cranked up to 11 to hear it on the train. We were already huge fans of the original AirPods Pro, and this latest refresh only makes things better."
However, one of his biggest problems was the price of the earbuds and, while the £179 price for Prime Day is a solid 20% discount on the usual price, for many they remain a big investment. He added: "At £249, Apple's wireless 'buds are ludicrously expensive and it's a shame Apple still refuses to introduce some much-needed colour – AirPods Pro are only available in plain white. Unlike some other wireless earbuds, there's no EQ in the settings so you won't be able to adjust the audio to suit your tastes."

'Better than GHD' straighteners that leave hair 'shiny' drop to £20 in Prime Day deal

'I wouldn't use any others now, they're amazing!' With Scotland set to be hit with another heatwave this weekend, everyone will be wanting to make the most of the gorgeous weather by being outside. At the same time, you will want to make sure you look your best while you are out and about. For those worried about having a bad hair day, a quality hair straightener can be your saving grace. Thankfully, for those in the market for a new set of straighteners, Amazon is currently hosting its Prime Day event which has seen a vast variety of must-have products getting decent discounts. One set of hair straighteners that shoppers are raving about are the Remington Shine Therapy Hair Straightener. Normally retailing for £79.99, shoppers can now grab this quality hair tool for the bargain price of £19.66. Said to deliver beautifully sleek, shiny locks with every stroke, these Remington Straighteners are said to restore softness to your hair as it combines shine-enhancing technology with advanced ceramic coated plates that are infused with Moroccan Argan Oil. Moroccan Argan Oil can have many benefits for your hair, including providing deep hydration, increased shine, heat protection, reduced fizz, as well as improved scalp health. This is the perfect oil to be infused into a hair straightener as it will keep your locks healthy and luscious. Boasting nine different heat settings - ranging from 150 to 230 degrees - shoppers can choose the perfect temperature for their hair. For those with coloured, bleached or fine hair, Remingtom suggests using the lower settings. These straighteners are also great for those running late, as they take only 15 seconds to heat up. For those wanting to splurge on a high end set of straighteners, Amazon has dropped the price of the ghd Original Hair Straightener & Styler. Normally retailing for £139, shoppers can now grab them for £88.19. Featuring upgraded technology, these straighteners are perfect for everyday styling on all hair types. Alternatively, Argos has slashed the price of BaByliss Luxe Hair Straightener from £70 down to £52.50. However, this can be reduced further as shoppers can use the code BABYLISS20 at checkouts to get an extra £20 off their purchase - dropping the price to only £32.50. Back to the Remington Straighteners, they currently have a 4.6 star rating from over 33,100 Amazon shoppers. On top of this, over 9,000 people have bought the hair tool in the last 30 days. One delighted reviewer gushed: "Best straighteners I have ever owned, much better than GHD. They glide effortlessly through the hair and only need to pass once to get shiny straight hair! They have a long chord with a swivel which helps with direction through the hair and they heat up fast with a beep to say they are ready. "The LCD is clear and the control buttons are easy to reach. All in all they are excellent and for under £40 a real bargain compared to other stores. I would highly recommend them." While another five-star reviewer added: "I have used many straighteners but this one is the best of them all. It straightens hair in one go. Heating is super good for thick dark hairs. Heats up in seconds and leaves hair shiny. I have not seen any hair damage yet but it also depends on hair type. Overall it is a reliable product." However, a couple of shoppers had a few gripes with the hair tool. One shopper said: "Did a really good job but the controls buttons are in a silly place right where you hold the tool! Spent most of the time turning it off up/down." While another added: "OK for budget straighteners. I feel they are a bit snaggy. They aren't good for curling at all." On the flip side, a top reviewer noted: "I was blown away the first time I used these, they perform like ghds. It's great that they have a lock setting, wider plates, a good variety of temperature settings to meet all different hair types and comes in a cute storage case for on the go or holidays. "My hair now looks shiny and healthy but also kept straight for so much longer than my old pair of straighteners. I wouldn't use any others now, they're amazing!" ‘Huge' garden parasol slashed to ‘bargain' price for Amazon Prime Day – ideal for shade on sunny days

As the UK braces for a sweltering heatwave this week, Amazon has launched a timely deal on a popular garden parasol. The price reduction is part of the Amazon Prime Day extravaganza and cuts the price from £85.99 to £67.99. Outsunny 3m Garden Banana Parasol £67.99 (was £85.99) This week's hot weather is not the first of the summer, but with the consistent heat and humidity, now's a great time to prepare the garden. While many of us love to bask in the sun, 30 degree temperatures call for some protection during the day. The Outsunny Garden Banana Parasol has a three metre canopy, providing a large expanse of shade. It's ideal for placing beside a garden dining table to cool down and enjoy meals in a more comfortable temperature. With the summer holidays beginning next week, shade is also a necessity to protect kids from the sun and getting burnt. While standard parasols and umbrellas will provide a small amount of shade, a sturdy version could be worth investing in if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Whether you're hosting a garden party, enjoying a quiet afternoon outdoors, or simply seeking respite from the heat, the Outsunny 3m Garden Banana Parasol is an affordable option that's also made its way into the Amazon bestsellers. The benefit of a banana parasol is that not only is the height adjustable, but the angle is too. You can choose to tilt it in different directions to perfectly cover the area where you need shade using a manual lever which makes it easy to adjust and open and close the parasol. Shoppers have been leaving their reviews on the summer item, with one saying: ''Fantastic product… well-made and huge!!!'' ''Exactly what we needed for the hot days and enough shade for everyone at the table!'' Another added: ''Bargain price, great for the price.'' ''Would be double the price in your average DIY store. Good quality and looks well-made.'' While a third continued the praise, commenting: ''Perfect for our garden as we never get shade.'' In addition to this gorgeous parasol, prices are dropping on a wide range of garden-related deals during the Amazon Prime Day event. You can stay up to date with The Sun Shopping's Amazon Prime Day Live UK deals. From outdoor furniture to BBQ equipment and garden tools, it's a good opportunity for households to upgrade their outdoor spaces without breaking the bank, with time to spare before summer ends. 'I've read 35 books on my Kindle this year and you can get one for 25% off on Prime Day'

The Amazon Kindle has become my go-to device for hitting my reading goal this year. As someone who has always loved reading, I came up with the goal this year to see how many books I can read in 12 months. As we entered into July, I have managed to completely engross myself in 35 books, ranging from romance and fantasy to mystery novels. Now while this seems like a lot of books, the Amazon Kindle has been my go-to device throughout the year. Since receiving it as a Christmas gift back in 2021 - I think so I would stop filling my family home with an excessive amount of books - it has been within an arm's reach ever since. With a slimline design and access to thousands of books, the Amazon Kindle is a must-have device for anyone wanting to challenge themselves to read more and are looking for a compact way to do so. At the moment, shoppers can grab the cheapest edition for £71.24 in the Prime Day event, down from £94.99. Now don't get me wrong, I do love a paperback book, especially if it has sprayed edges. However, as I currently don't have the space for more physical books in my flat, reading books on my Kindle has become a handy alternative. The added bonus is that I only need to charge the device every couple of weeks, even when its being used continuously. For me at least, the Kindle has also become a cheaper alternative to traditional reading. With a variety of genres of books available on the Kindle store for readers to sink their teeth into, the vast majority of them retail at a cheaper price for a Kindle edition than they do for a paperback. While sometimes this can be a couple of pounds off - for example A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass is currently down from £9.99 to £2.99 for the Kindle Edition - other times Amazon hosts a sale on their top picks of the month which can let shoppers buy the book for only 99p. Some of the 99p July top picks include The Tenant by Frieda McFadden, Deep End by Ali Hazelwood, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and Mort by Terry Pratchett. Alternatively, for those who are frequent readers, Amazon also has a Kindle Unlimited feature that gives readers access to millions of books, thousands of audiobooks and some magazine subscriptions for free. Now it should be noted that this is through a subscription service, so shoppers will need to pay £9.49 per month. I personally have this feature as I can get through a few books a month that would end up costing upward of £25 if I bought them in store. However, for those who struggle to get through a book or two a month, this may not be the best option. For those who are wanting to try out Kindle Unlimited, Amazon is currently giving shoppers a 30-day free trial that can be cancelled at any time. However, readers need to be aware that once they cancel their subscription, all books they have read will disappear from their library. For those wanting to save money and space, a Kindle may be the perfect buy for you. And to make it a little bit easier, I have collated the top three Kindles on the market so you can find which one suits you best. Available in black and matcha green, shoppers can buy the lightest and most compact kindle for £71.24. Users will be able to read comfortably with a 6-inch glare-free screen, which also comes with an adjustable front light and a dark mode. This IS the device I currently own and I have spent many days sitting in the sun enjoying a new book without having to glare at the screen. I personally use the dark mode setting as this is more comfortable for my eyes, but shoppers can also choose to keep the device on light mode. With up to six weeks of battery life on a single charge, this device is the perfect companion to take with you on holiday and long haul flights. With a 4.5 star rating, one happy shopper said: "Got the green kindle and love it. It's so small which is handy as it's easily portable and fits in my handbag without talking up any extra space. It's really easy to set up with the mobile app, it took me like 5 minutes to connect it up. "The feel of the Kindle is really great, it's got a matte finish, which I absolutely love. Overall the Kindle is great as it's handy when trying to read on the go with the amount of books on it. I would highly recommend." However, another shopper said: "I find it difficult to find items in library. I very much prefer the way that my Kindle Paperwhite operates and shows the list of books I have as a list and not showing the cover." To buy the Amazon Kindle (16 GB), click HERE. In comparison to the cheaper model, this Paperwhite Kindle boasts a 7-inch display and can turn pages 25 per cent faster. With an ultra-thin design, shoppers can easily slip this device into their bag without taking up too much space. What's even better is that this device is said to boast a battery life of up to 12 weeks on a single charge. Users can also read their Kindle anywhere as it is both waterproof and worry-free. Whether you are sitting in a warm bath or by the pool on holiday, you won't need to worry about the device being damaged. Available in black, jade or raspberry, one delighted shopper said: "I'm absolutely in love with the All-new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 16 GB! This e-reader has exceeded my expectations in every way. "The 6.8-inch display is bright and crisp, and the e-ink technology makes reading for hours feel just like reading a physical book. The adjustable warm light is a game-changer for late-night reading—it's so much easier on the eyes." However, one shopper grumbled: "This kindle paperwhite has a larger screen size than my series 7, but the surround is much narrower. Sadly, this means there's not much to hold on to & I move my fingers to ease cramp & oops the screen has changed or oops the font size has changed or oops my book has disappeared...... very irritating." Click HERE to buy the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (16 GB). Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (32 GB) For those who don't enjoy the black and white design of the other devices, this Colorsoft Kindle features covers and content in paper-like colour. If you enjoy highlighting your favourite parts of a novel, shoppers can now highlight in yellow, orange, blue and pink for added variety instead of it all looking the same. With a battery life of up to eight weeks, this Kindle can also get a power boost through a wireless charging dock. With an auto-adjusting light to suit your surroundings, Kindles also have the added bonus of not receiving constant notifications - fully allowing you to slip into a new world for an hour or two. One five-star reviewer said: "This is a beautiful Kindle. If you read on your Kindle a lot it is so worth it. The colours are very pretty, it's perfect hand size and easy to navigate. I absolutely love it and feel it's worth every considerable penny! The screen is brilliant in sunlight and the light quality is great for darker moments." While another shopper grumbled about the power button: "I just found a design flaw in the product, because the power button is on the bottom edge of the device, if you rest the device on a table while you read, you will end up setting a popup asking if you want to restart or turn off the device."
