Richard Ashcroft says 'all new fans welcome' after Oasis gig-goer Shazams The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony
The former frontman of the Britpop group is among the opening acts on the Oasis Live '25 Tour, and he has reacted to the viral moment someone was seen using the Shazam app to identify the 1997 classic in the crowd.
After night two of the Supersonic group's first tour in 16 years at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 5, Ashcroft penned on Instagram: "Day 2 thanks to everyone who came down and gave such beautiful support for my set. If you don't know it Shazam it, all new fans welcome! Love to LG for Cast No Shadow, what a tune! We move on Manchester. Are you ready? Music is Power RA."
The 53-year-old musician said when his support slot was confirmed last year: "As a fan from day one I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis' return was announced.
"I can say with no exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam's pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work.
"It was the perfection of Live Forever that forced me to try and write my own. They dared to be great, made the dreams we had real and I will always remember those days with joy.
"Now it's time to create more memories and I'm ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power."
Meanwhile, Ashcroft is set to release a brand new solo album, Lovin' You, on October 3.
It will be his first LP of all new material since 2018's Natural Rebel.
The Lovin' You album opens with its recently released first single Lover, which interpolates Joan Armatrading's 1976 song Love And Affection.
The single sets the standard for a record that finds Ashcroft at the height of his powers. The album spans the many facets of his sound, from his classic string-soaked acoustic balladry and anthemic indie-rock – through to flashes of Americana, soul and glitch electro beats.
Its themes are intimate and personal, dominated by love, romance and affecting messages of support for those struggling with life's challenges.

Store issues exciting name change update after petition backed by Oasis frontman
As Greater Manchester is still revelling in the glow of Britpop band Oasis playing five homecoming gigs at Heaton Park, a Prestwich supermarket has today issued an exciting update to mark the occasion. The Aldi story on Bury New Road had temporarily changed its signage to 'Aldeh' last month as a cheeky nod to the Gallagher brothers famous Mancunian accents ahead of the Oasis Live '25 tour. Fan Ella Curtis launched a petition last week to make the change permanent, citing it as a 'cultural landmark in the making'. She dubbed the Burnage band as 'one of the most iconic bands this city has ever produced'. The online page accrued more than 1,300 signatures and had backing from Bury South MP Christian Wakeford. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher shared a picture of the sign on his social media stories and his 25-year-old niece Anaïs publicly supported the move on TikTok. Get the latest news delivered straight to your inbox by signing up to the Bury Times morning newsletter as well as our breaking news alerts. Ella says that the 'Aldeh' sign reflects the area's music heritage in a way that feels authentic, local and proud', adding that it has become a 'symbol and reminder of how we, as Mancunians all came together to celebrate of the biggest reunion concerts from one of the world's biggest bands happening right on our doorstep." The global supermarket brand agreed and has issued an update sharing the name change will now be permanent following the outpouring of public support. The Prestwich store is a short walk from Heaton Park and the sign is now even listed on Google Maps as a cultural landmark, complete with five star reviews. Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK said: 'We've been blown away by the public's reaction to 'Aldeh'. What started as a fun, temporary tribute to Oasis and the local accent has turned into something far bigger. 'We've heard shoppers loud and clear, and we're absolutely delighted to keep the sign up for the long haul. It's been brilliant to see the joy it's brought to fans and the Manchester community.' 'The response has been supersonic, with Oasis fans and proud Mancunians visiting the store to see it for themselves. 'Last week, a petition was launched by a local resident calling for us to keep the sign. So naturally, we took to social media to see what our shoppers thought, turns out… people are mad for it and want the sign to stay. 'I'm pleased to announce that we'll be keeping the Aldeh sign as a tribute to Manchester! 'As you were.'

What to expect from Oasis at Wembley, from setlist to stage times
The Oasis reunion tour is moving on to Wembley, the home of the band's seven London dates. After triumphant homecoming shows in Manchester, fans in the capital have plenty to look forward to. From on-stage times to support acts and the plans to control the ticketless crowds, here's all you need to know about what to expect on the Wembley leg of the tour. When are Oasis playing Wembley? Oasis have a whopping seven Wembley tour dates to get through, but they'll be split into two parts of the schedule. The Gallaghers will debut their first London date on Friday, 25 July, followed by Saturday, 26 July. After a few days off, they'll return to the Wembley stage on Wednesday, 30 July. They'll then perform nights four and five on Saturday 2, and Sunday 3 August. Although the tour moves on to other locations after the first five dates, the band will be back in town for two more nights on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 September to close the UK leg. What time are Oasis and support acts on stage at Wembley? Ahead of Friday's first Wembley show, Oasis have released the expected timings that gates will open and that they and their support acts will be on stage. — Oasis (@oasis) July 23, 2025 Wembley will open the gates at 5pm, ahead of the first support act, Cast, taking to the stage at 6pm. Richard Ashcroft will then follow them at 7pm. Oasis are expected to be on stage from 8:15pm, and fans can look forward to two hours of the band's biggest hits as the show is set to end at 10:15pm ahead of a 10:30pm curfew. Oasis' Wembley setlist Although the setlist for the Wembley shows hasn't officially been announced, it has stayed the same for all of their reunion shows so far. This has been the setlist for Oasis Live '25 to date: Intro music: F***in' in the Bushes Hello Acquiesce Morning Glory Some Might Say Bring It On Down Cigarettes & Alcohol Fade Away Supersonic Roll With It Talk Tonight Little by Little Half a World Away D'You Know What I Mean? Stand By Me Cast No Shadow Slide Away Whatever Live Forever Rock 'n' Roll Star The Masterplan (encore) Don't Look Back In Anger (encore) Wonderwall (encore) Champagne Supernova (encore) Non-ticket holders warned not to attend Unfortunately for those who didn't manage to get tickets, all seven of the Wembley shows are now sold out. But if you're tempted to head down to Wembley anyway to try to catch a few bars of Wonderwall, the official advice is: don't. So many ticketless fans arrived at Heaton Park for the Manchester shows in the hope of watching the gigs for free from an area dubbed "Gallagher Hill" that a high fence was put up around the concert area. The police and council even had to step in to discourage people from attending and clear the park. Wembley Stadium officials have learned from Gallagher Hill and warned people not to loiter or turn up without a valid ticket. A statement from the venue said: "To support with the safe entry and exit of everyone within the stadium, no one is allowed to stand outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium. Non-ticket holders will be moved on." There is, however, one official event that both those with and without tickets can enjoy - Wembley Park is hosting a free, outdoor photography exhibition from the archive of celebrated music photographer Kevin Cummins, Brothers: Liam and Noel Through the Lens of Kevin Cummins.
