Inside Dubai Porta Potty parties - exactly what happens at degrading sexual abuse raves
For many, Dubai conjures up images of stylish influencers taking endless photographs against a glittering skyline. But there are those who warn of a darker underbelly to this decadent city, where women are lured to so-called 'Porta Potty parties'.
This comes as Maria Kovalchuk, who was initially believed to be a victim of these disturbing gatherings, has opened up about her ordeal after she was discovered on a roadside in Dubai, with a broken spine and limbs.
The 20-year-old Ukrainian model, who is now recovering in Norway, has denied that United Arab Emirates (UAE) citizens were behind her horror injuries, instead pointing the finger at "rich Russian kids" she claims abused her after a hotel party.
However, Maria's story has shed light on fears over grim 'Porta Potty parties', where glamorous young female tourists are targeted in foul and demeaning ways.
Those invited to such parties may well expect an evening of opulence, tempted by promises of lavish gifts, high-end hotel stays, and wads of cash. In reality, the truth is far more disturbing and could well land unfortunate guests in grave danger.
Held aboard a luxury yacht as well as inside hotel rooms, Porta Potty parties are allegedly orchestrated by wealthy men, and centre around acts of degrading sexual humiliation, often involving bodily fluids. Those targeted are left with physical and psychological scars.
Adult content creator Kay Manuel, from Australia's Gold Coast, previously told news.com.au: 'The promoters play it down. Saying, you'll just party, have a great time. Then get showered with gifts. In reality, you'll be expected to do unthinkable things.'
According to Kay, another Australian woman known to her was hospitalised with devastating injuries after accepting an invitation from Dubai jewellery tycoons
She continued: 'She had to get reconstructive surgery. She came back very emotionally scarred. It's not something that you can come back from and go 'oh well'. It's burned on your brain forever.'
As highlighted by Kay, who took a trip to Dubai earlier this year, aspiring influencers with debts and relatively few brand deals are more vulnerable. She explained: 'They prefer to target Instagram models. They're less experienced than escorts.'
Harrowingly, victims also run the risk of getting into serious difficulties with the law, in a country where sex workers can face six months behind bars. Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, previously warned the Mirror that women involved in Porta Potty parties - even if they haven't consented - could be looking at charges of adultery or indecency, especially if such acts were carried out in the presence of married men.
Ms Stirling said: "Sex outside marriage has been legalised in Dubai, but organisers have exploited this. Women think they're attending a private party - instead, they're thrown into horrific, dangerous situations with real legal risk."

Germany train derailment kills at least three leaving others seriously injured
Authorities confirmed approximately 100 passengers were on the train when at least two carriages left the tracks in Biberach, Germany, with several people killed. I express my condolences to their families." According to the German Press Agency (dpa), Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) is also heading to the scene of the accident. His spokesman said he will get an impression of the rescue efforts following the derailment. A spokesperson for the Federal Police Stuttgart told Bild: "Two carriages of the Deutsche Bahn regional express have derailed." Because of the number of people killed and injured, the crash has been declared a mass casualty incident by German authorities. Toddler found dead on popular Greek tourist beach by horrified passer-by
A young girl was found dead on a beach near the Greek capital of Athens early on Sunday - and authorities are now carrying out investigations to determine what happened to her. A toddler has tragically been found dead on a popular tourist beach in Greece by a horrified passerby. The child, believed to be around two or three years old, was discovered on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro, near Athens, in the early hours of July 27. Local reports say a man, from Egypt, spotted the girl's body on the shore and called the emergency services. Authorities rushed to the scene, where they located the child, who hasn't been identified so far. Her body was transported to the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital via ambulance, where doctors pronounced her dead. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the girl's cause of death, authorities have said. Greek newspaper Protothema reported that the child was wearing a full-zip bathing suit and was not wearing armbands when she was found. The publication added that there were no obvious signs of abuse on the girl. No child matching her characteristics has been reported missing in the area. Last week, a British tourist was tragically found dead on his sun lounger on a popular Greek beach after reportedly becoming unwell. The 74-year-old was discovered unconscious on Stalis Beach on the isle of Crete by other people at the resort at around 12pm on Sunday, July 20. Emergency services rushed to the scene and made a desperate bid to revive the man, but unfortunately their efforts proved unsuccessful. It is understood that he had first gone for a swim before returning to the sun lounger and there are reports he had a "strong feeling" of sickness shortly before his death. Paramedics from Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAB) treated the man at the scene and no cause of death has yet been given by the Greek authorities. An autopsy was due to be carried out, reported It comes after several tragic beach deaths over the last few months involving British citizens on holiday. Christian Brueckner wants to flee to a non-extradition country if he is released as expected in September, so prosecutors have applied to the courts to impose restrictions on his movements Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner is set to be tagged and have his passport confiscated amid fears he could disappear when released from prison. Prosecutors want the convicted paedophile to face stringent conditions if he is freed from jail as expected in September. His lawyer previously said Brueckner wants to vanish overseas to a country that has no extradition treaty with the EU or UK. Investigators have applied to a court for him to be subjected to 'führungsaufsicht' - a form of judicial supervision. It is reserved for prisoners who have served time for serious crimes but are still deemed as being high risk. Brueckner would have to hand over his passport to authorities and could also be made to wear an electronic ankle tag. This would make it almost impossible for the German to disappear or flee to a country without an extradition treaty. Brueckner would also be banned from going near schools, nurseries or other places regularly used by children. And he would have to regularly 'check in' at a local police station and need approval to change his home address. A source told the Mirror: 'Under 'fuhrungsaufsicht' you can impose conditions, seize passports and so on. Of course we're trying to make sure he can't flee abroad - you can absolutely count on that.' Prosecutors are desperate to keep Brueckner 'within reach' so they can immediately arrest him if a warrant is issued. The German's lawyer said earlier this year that he plans to change his appearance and head to a nation that has no extradition. Philipp Marquort told the Mirror: "Sometimes he wants to stay here in Germany, sometimes he wants to leave Europe. If I were him I would leave and look for a state which doesn't extradite to Europe or Great Britain, maybe like Suriname. "We talked about the possibility of changing his appearance. I would get a face operation if I were him. I mentioned it would be nice for him to change how he looks so nobody can recognise him anymore.' Brueckner is nearing the end of a seven-year jail sentence for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz. He is expected to walk free from Sehnde prison near Hannover on September 17. German authorities had hoped outstanding fines for an offence in jail would keep him behind bars until January. But they were dealt a blow in June when a former police officer paid the £1,300 levies out of the blue. German prosecutors named Brueckner as their prime suspect in the Madeleine case in June 2020 but have yet to charge him. Despite a lengthy police investigation, detectives appear to be no closer to charging him over Madeleine's disappearance. He was cleared last October of a string of sex crimes he was accused of carrying out in Portugal. Prosecutors are awaiting the outcome of an appeal against those verdicts lodged in Germany's Federal Court of Justice. Brueckner denies any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance in May 2007. German search teams spent three days hunting for evidence in Portugal last month. Brueckner was living in a ramshackle farmhouse on the edge of Praia da Luz when Madeleine vanished.
