Caitlin Clark trades away Cheryl Reeve in shocking WNBA All-Star Game coach swap

Caitlin Clark loved the roster she had assembled for the WNBA All-Star Game. The coaching situation, though, was another story. In a move that was as shocking as it was unclear if it was technically allowed, Clark traded Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve to Team Collier for Liberty coach Sandy Brondello. Advertisement Reeve was supposed to coach Team Clark in the July 19 showcase before Napheesa Collier and Clark agreed to the coach swap and revealed it during the WNBA All-Star draft that was airing on ESPN's pregame show before the Liberty faced the Aces. 3 Indiana Fever guards Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark celebrate from the bench during a game against the Las Vegas Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. [Collier] is going to take her coach. Sandy Brondello, let's get it. It's going to be amazing. Sorry WNBA if that's not in the rule. The trade is notable not only for its unprecedented nature but also because of the perception around Reeve and her comments regarding Clark. She then responded to a fan comment that it was 'Because they only care about Caitlin,' to which the coach replied, 'That part.' Reeve was also the head coach of the U.S. Olympic women's basketball team and took a lot of flak for Clark's snub from the Olympic roster.

Minnesota Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve Needs to Look Closer at Team Makeup

Minnesota Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve Needs to Look Closer at Team Makeup originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's no doubt that the Minnesota Lynx were looking to repeat as champions of the in-season WNBA Commissioner's Cup tournament. But the Lynx were not able to make it happen, even against a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever team. Advertisement The Fever scored a 74-59 win on Tuesday night, July 1, on their home court in Indianapolis. Forward Natasha Howard led the Fever with 16 points and 12 rebounds, sending Indiana to a very surprising upset win. Alanna Smith led Minnesota with 15 points. Current WNBA MVP front-runner Napheesa Collier just didn't show up in the game. Courtney Williams only went 4-for-14 shooting and Kayla McBride was worse, finishing 1-for-7. What did Reeve see out there in the game? 'We had some easy shots that didn't fall, as did they, particularly early in the game,' Reeve said, according to The Athletic. 'Then they kind of got their rhythm going, and we just sort of lost ours.' Advertisement Minnesota coach saw that her players were not able to create opportunities in big game Reeve had time to do a little post-game observation about her team's effort. There were some things that were on her mind. 'We have a tendency sometimes to get impatient,' Reeve said, The Athletic reported on Wednesday, July 2. 'Our commitment to move into basketball and creating advantages — we had a hard time getting that done.' Lynx forward Jess Shepard also noticed that the team didn't have that much on-court chemistry in the defeat. 'We got exposed in some areas and we know we can't show up like we did today if we want to be in the finals at the end of the year,' Shepard said. 'Last season, they took the victory as a turning point. I think this year you can learn a lot from today.' Advertisement Collier still is making a name for herself in WNBA circles. Even with this setback, Minnesota remains a hot team in the league. But Reeve knows that if her team is going to stay in contention, games like their Commissioner's Cup loss cannot become routine. Former Minnesota Vikings LB heads out west in PFF's 2014 NFL re-draft

The NFL Draft remains the second-biggest event in the NFL calendar behind the Super Bowl. Like it or not, it also remains one of the biggest things that fans and media enjoy going back and analyzing to see "what could have been." Pro Football Focus has done a good job this offseason by starting a re-draft series that we have been tracking here on Bucs Wire. In their latest draft, they looked back on, it just so happens to be one of the more impactful ones in recent memory for the Minnesota Vikings franchise: The 2014 NFL Draft. Anthony Barr was the Vikings' top draft pick in their class in the 2014 NFL Draft. In the re-draft, he did not get to the Vikings but instead stayed closer to home and his college of UCLA by being drafted by the Denver Broncos. Sikkema writes up the pick, saying, "Barr made four Pro Bowls with the Vikings and earned an 83.8 career PFF pass-rushing grade. He finished his second season, 2015, as one of the 10 most valuable linebackers in the league, according to PFF WAR. Barr and Brandon Marshall would have formed one of the better linebacker units in the NFL." Barr would have a Super Bowl ring to his credit this way, while the Vikings would be left scrambling for more defensive help than they would have imagined.
