Vikrant Massey Wants 12th Fail To Win A National Award: 'With Utmost Humility…'

Last Updated: Vikrant Massey, who is gearing up for his next film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, says that he hopes his film 12th Fail gets a National Award. Vikrant Massey has been delivering hit after hit in recent years. It's safe to say that the actor has established himself as one of the finest talents in the industry. However, this time, Massey is stepping into something completely new. He's both nervous and excited about being part of a 'commercial Bollywood film" with Santosh Singh's Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. The film also marks the debut of Shanaya Kapoor, who plays the lead opposite Massey. During the film's promotions, Massey spoke exclusively to News18 Showsha about how he hopes his previous project, 12th Fail, wins a National Award. There have been specualtions on 12th Fail winning a National Award, however, nothing concrete has been announced yet. Talking about the same, he said, 'I hope it does. And I'm sorry, without cost of sounding pompous, and with utmost humility. I hope it does. I hope the film wins an award. I hope Vidhu Vinod Chopra wins an award. I hope I win an award. I've always aspired for one. I've prayed for one when I was that young kid wanting to become an actor, I always wanted a National Award because that's the greatest achievement an actor in India can have, to be presented an award by the President of the country. And I hope it happens. So, fingers crossed." After Aankhon Ki Gustaakiyan, Massey is all set to start his soft preparation for his next film titled White, where he plays the titular role of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. 'There's one film that I am also soft prepping for. It is called White, wherein I play the honorable Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. [I am] very nervous. I'm spending a lot of time with him, with the script. I start shooting in August. [Spending time with him] is also very unnerving because he's something else. He's God-sent for me. This film, him everything, this opportunity is God-sent." Talking about working with debutant Shanaya Kapoor, Massey says she was like a 'breath of fresh air." He added, 'It was lovely working with Shanaya. She is a breath of fresh air. There's so much that I learned from her. But also the same time when I when I took up this opportunity, I was very nervous because I've never done something like this, which is which is an outright commercial Bollywood Hindi movie wherein I'm lip syncing for the first time. I was very nervous." Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor's Aankhon Ki Gustaakiyan releases on July 11. First Published:

There Are A Lot Of People...: Vikrant Massey Says Some In Industry Still Try To Make Him Feel Lesser

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has revealed that despite his success, there are still people in the film industry who make him feel lesser. In a recent interaction with IANS, he also admitted that many don't like him as an actor but added that their doubts only fuel his determination to keep proving himself. When asked if any star kids ever made him feel less important during his struggling days, Massey clarified that it wasn't about star kids specifically, but about certain individuals in the industry who tried to make him feel small. The '12th Fail' actor shared, 'No, it's not about a star kid. It's about the kind of people who make you feel small. We shouldn't generalize it. There are many people who, from time to time, try to make you feel lesser—and they still do. Even today? Yes, even today. There are many who do that. But I believe such people are necessary.' 'They help keep the fire inside you burning. I actually think we need people like that—those who challenge you, who look down on you. They still exist, and I'm thankful for their presence. There are a lot of people who don't like me as an actor. I know that. I won't name them, but they give me the drive to keep going.' When asked if it affects him mentally, Vikrant Massey responded that it doesn't disturb him at all. In fact, he said such negativity fuels his motivation and drives him to do better. 'Not at all. In fact, it works in my favor. There are so many who think, 'Oh, he's not a good actor.' Some even believe I'm overrated. So, when my film does well, it feels good—I prove them wrong. That's what keeps me going.' The 'Gaslight' actor went on to mention, 'That's the driving force for me. That feeling stays with you—it's very important. They help keep that inner fire alive. So really, it depends on the person. It's not about being a star kid or not. Not at all. If we're talking about star kids, most of them have actually been very nice to me.' Work-wise, Vikrant Massey is gearing up for the release of his film 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' alongside Shanaya Kapoor. Helmed by Santosh Singh, the romantic drama is slated for a theatrical release on July 11.

Vikrant Massey Says Many In The Industry Don't Like Him, Still Treat Him As ‘Lesser'

Last Updated: Vikrant Massey revealed that despite his success, some in the film industry still make him feel lesser. He believes such negativity fuels his determination. He's riding high on the success of 12th Fail, but Vikrant Massey says some things never change. The praise may be louder, but so are the whispers of doubt. And he's well aware of them. In a candid chat with IANS, Vikrant opened up about how some people in the industry still treat him as if he doesn't belong. 'There are many people who, from time to time, try to make you feel lesser and they still do. Even today? Yes, even today. There are many who do that. But I believe such people are necessary," he said. The actor was quick to clarify that it's not about being an insider or a star kid. 'No, it's not about a star kid. It's about the kind of people who make you feel small. We shouldn't generalise it," he explained, adding that many star kids have been kind to him. Despite facing dismissiveness from within the industry, Vikrant doesn't let it get under his skin. Instead, he uses it as fuel. 'They help keep the fire inside you burning. I actually think we need people like that—those who challenge you, who look down on you. They still exist, and I'm thankful for their presence," he said. And yes, he's aware not everyone's a fan. 'There are a lot of people who don't like me as an actor. I know that. I won't name them, but they give me the drive to keep going." Asked whether this affects his mental peace, Vikrant responded with clarity. 'Not at all. In fact, it works in my favour. There are so many who think, 'Oh, he's not a good actor.' Some even believe I'm overrated. So, when my film does well, it feels good—I prove them wrong. That's what keeps me going." For him, that sense of being underestimated is no longer a burden, it's become his power. 'That's the driving force for me. That feeling stays with you—it's very important," he said. On the work front, Vikrant is gearing up for the release of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama opposite Shanaya Kapoor. Directed by Santosh Singh, the film is set to hit theatres on July 11.
