Halle Berry Makes Rare Comment About Teenage Daughter's Upcoming Life Change
Halle Berry, 58, is getting ready to send her daughter Nahla, 17, off to college. The actress has largely kept Nahla and her son Maceo, 11, out of the Hollywood spotlight.
However, she was more than happy to share an update on what's next for her daughter during a chat with Jenna Bush Hager on Today with Jenna & Friends. Berry's about to experience a parental first as Nahla leaves the nest.'She's 17. She's going to a college summer program, the college that she's hoping to go to next year. She's going away this year to the college summer program,' expressed the Never Let Go star.
Hager wanted to know what it was like for Berry, knowing that Nahla would be off on her own soon. The Today host's oldest child is 13, so she has a few years before she hits that parenting phase.
'I'm not one of these moms that feels like, 'Oh, she's leaving.' Yes, will I worry? Of course, but am I excited for her to start her life and figure out who she's gonna be? Absolutely. I'm dying to see who she's gonna be and what she's gonna do and what she'll discover,' Berry shared.
The Hollywood beauty also opened up about being a single working mom. Berry admitted she felt some guilt, like most working moms do, but she feels it's good for her kids to see her working. She wants to teach her kids that they have to be there for themselves and their families.
'We have to be there for ourselves because these kids will grow up and move on, and if we haven't maintained a life for ourselves, then what happens?" the actress stated.
Berry shares Nahla with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo with her ex-husband, actor Olivier Martinez. The actress has been in a relationship with Van Hunt, 55, since 2020.

Charlize Theron, 49, has zero regrets about doing motherhood solo. During an appearance on Wednesday's episode of " Call Her Daddy," Theron spoke about her life as a single mother of two. She adopted her daughters Jackson and August in 2012 and 2015, respectively. The " Mad Max: Fury Road" actor told podcast host Alex Cooper that her parents' relationship was a "cautionary tale" that helped her realize she didn't want to be in one. Theron was 15 when she witnessed her mother fatally shoot her alcoholic father in self-defense. Theron said it was a "layered and complicated" decision driven by two factors: not wanting what her parents had and recognizing that she "did not have the capability of being healthy in a relationship." "Those two things I had to acknowledge when I decided to be a parent, and I think it's probably one of the healthiest decisions I ever made," she said. However, she acknowledges that there's still a stigma being placed on women who choose to be single. "With women, it's always like, something must be wrong with her. She can't keep a man. And it's never part of the discussion of like, 'Wow, she's really living her truth. She's living in her happiness. This is actually a choice that she made,'" Theron said. "I want to look at them, and just be like, 'Do you know how fucking great it is to live exactly how I want to live?' To experience motherhood exactly how I wanted to experience it," she added. Theron says some people might question whether her decision was fair to her children, but in the end, only they can speak to their own experience. "I can only tell you that this is the best way that I know how to be a mother to them," she said. "I love every single day of it. I love that I don't have to share them with somebody. I love that I don't have to run every fucking thing by a guy," she added. Theron said she "broke the cycle" by knowing exactly what she didn't want in a relationship and what she had to offer. "And who I am at the time that I wanted to be a parent was not somebody who should be having kids with another person," Theron said. Theron isn't the only celebrity who has spoken about being a single parent. Lucy Liu told The Cut in 2023 that the decision to have a child in her late 40s via surrogacy — as a single woman — was largely unplanned. "I didn't do a lot of research, I just pulled the trigger," Liu said. In a March interview with Parade, Connie Britton — who adopted her son from Ethiopia as a single woman at 45 — said she always wanted to be a mother. "I knew that I hadn't achieved the kind of partnership that I was looking for to have a spouse and a child together. And so I thought, 'This is the time, I'm going to start the adoption process,'" Britton said.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth' Is a Love Letter to the Original—Here's When You Can Stream It

Over three decades (and several sequels) after Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park first roared onto screens, Jurassic World Rebirth arrives as a bold new chapter in the beloved franchise. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Godzilla), the film revisits the chaos of dino resurrection through a standalone story that honors the original while introducing a new generation of characters—and creatures. The film premieres in theaters today. Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, Rebirth opens in a world where most dinosaurs have been pushed into isolated zones along the equator. Among them are three genetically modified giants whose DNA may hold the key to a revolutionary new drug. That premise sends a team of operatives, led by Scarlett Johansson's Zora Bennett, on a high-stakes mission to a remote island once home to InGen's most secretive lab. 'I saw Jurassic Park when I was 10 years old in the theater,' Johansson said in an interview with Today. 'It was so impactful—I was completely transfixed, mesmerized, carried away, terrified, all of that stuff, and it's part of the formative part of my childhood.' For Johansson, the role is a longtime dream fulfilled. 'It turns out that if you harass Frank Marshall enough, you could get a job,' she joked, referencing the longtime franchise producer. The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey as museum paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, Mahershala Ali as government operative Duncan Kincaid, and Luna Blaise as Teresa, a girl whose family vacation gets interrupted by the prehistoric beasts. 'It's a whole new band of characters that nobody's seen before,' Blaise told ELLE of the film. 'It's a new story and a new chapter.' She added of her co-star Johansson, 'Seeing Scarlett man the troops and be the captain of our ship was awesome.' Edwards, who grew up admiring Spielberg, leaned into the original film's feel. 'Jurassic Park is perfect pure cinema,' he told NBC. 'I never thought I could beat what Steven did. But I do hope we've made a film that's worthy of it.' Rebirth was shot on 35mm film and filmed on location in Thailand and Malta. 'Thailand had some pretty serious creature critters,' Johansson noted to Today, recalling a jungle shoot interrupted by cockroaches and scorpions. But the film's real monsters are the new hybrid giants. Among them: the Distortus Rex, or D-Rex, a terrifying blend of T-Rex DNA with influences from other movie monsters. 'There's a little bit of the Rancor from Star Wars, and some of H.R. Giger's alien in there,' Edwards told Collider. 'But there's also this empathy—we wanted you to feel slightly sorry for it.' Not yet—but it's coming. Jurassic World Rebirth is currently playing only in theaters. However, as a Universal Pictures release, it will likely be available soon for digital rent or purchase.
