LS Electric to showcase next-gen power solutions at Elecs Vietnam 2025
At the event, scheduled for July 16 to 18 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, LS Electric will present its next-generation power management system integrated with a smart grid distribution solution and ultra-high voltage transformers.
Leveraging its world-leading manufacturing capabilities in power electronics-based inverters known for high energy efficiency, the company plans to showcase an advanced energy storage system platform alongside locally tailored ESS products. A key feature of this platform is the modularization of its power electronics building block in 200-kilowatt units, allowing for easy power scaling and flexible applicability without needing to redesign the entire system.
Additionally, LS Electric will unveil IoT-based digital technology solutions for energy optimization, including its digital twin smart factory platform, 'Smart Management Insight,' asset management systems, the energy efficiency management platform 'GridSol CUBE,' and the power facility integrated management platform 'GridSol CARE.'
The company will also introduce the 'LS SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) with AI' platform, an artificial intelligence-based safety control solution that integrates and analyzes real-time data from smart safety devices and camera monitoring.
LS Electric aims to expand its presence in the ASEAN power infrastructure market, capitalizing on Vietnam and Indonesia as strategic bases.
Vietnam, in particular, has been pushing for renewable energy generation projects under its 8th Power Development Plan, launching policies to build smart grids for enhanced efficiency and stability. Since entering Vietnam in the mid-1990s, the company has maintained its leadership position with a market share exceeding 40 percent in the low-voltage power equipment sector since 2013.
In 2023, LS Electric significantly increased its production capacity in Vietnam from $25 million to $40 million annually by relocating its Bac Ninh facility to the Yen Phong Industrial Complex. The company has diversified its business across the entire power system industry by acquiring Symphos, an Indonesian power equipment supplier, and expanding into high-end products such as ultra-high voltage gas-insulated switchgear.
'We aim to solidify our position as the leading company in Vietnam -- a top-three market for Korean power suppliers -- and firmly establish our business capabilities for ASEAN customers,' stated an official from LS Electric. 'With aggressive investments in local power systems and high-end strategic products such as transformers and ESS, we will deepen our reach into the ASEAN region, emerging as a global data center hub.'

Lee Jae Myung finalizes Cabinet lineup with 2 minister picks
President Lee Jae Myung has named two ministers to complete his administration's Cabinet nominations, about a month after his inauguration. Chae Hwi-young, CEO of South Korea's online travel booking platform operator Nol Universe, was selected as the nominee for the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, according to Lee's Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik on Friday. Three-term lawmaker Rep. Kim Yun-duk of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea was named to lead the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Chae, 61, is a journalist-turned-entrepreneur who also formerly led South Korea-based technology firm Naver from 2005 to 2009. Kang said Chae would be the right fit for the president's push for cultural content market expansion "based on his show of expertise and originality in the private sector." Nol Company was formed from the merger of Yanolja Platform and Interpark Triple in late December. Kim, 59, is currently a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee. Kang said Kim is expected to "take a housing policy stance from the standpoint of ordinary people, not of experts or bureaucrats." Kang added that Kim would deliver on President Lee's promise of zero tolerance against speculative housing purchases to prevent the housing market from overheating. Before Friday, the two positions were the only ones left in the 20-member Cabinet awaiting presidential nominations. Confirmation hearings are scheduled next week, starting on Monday. Incumbent Agricultural Minister Song Mi-ryung, who was picked by Lee to continue working for his administration, will be an exception. Among Lee's 19 ministerial nominee picks are eight Democratic Party lawmakers, a former lawmaker of the conservative rival party and four entrepreneurs. So far, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, who is also a four-term Democratic Party lawmaker, is the only member of the Cabinet who gained parliamentary approval. Asked about the incumbent lawmakers of the ruling party accounting for nearly half of the Cabinet, Kang said the administration lacked time for vetting processes because no transition period was granted to Lee. The president was inaugurated immediately after his election victory in June due to former President Yoon Suk Yeol's ouster in April. Chae is Lee's third presidential nomination with experience at South Korea's internet technology giant Naver, alongside Han Seong-sook, nominee for minister of startups and SMEs, and Ha Jung-woo, senior presidential secretary for AI future planning.

Samsung to launch AI Health Coach beta in US by year-end
Samsung Electronics is set to unveil a beta version of its AI Health Coach through the Samsung Health app in the US, marking a significant AI-driven push to deliver medical guidance at home. At the Galaxy Tech Forum held in New York on Thursday, Samsung introduced the new feature, which uses AI to analyze users' daily health data collected from wearable devices and provide personalized health care guidance. 'We will release a beta version of the AI Health Coach that supports users in implementing doctors' recommendations through Galaxy Watch and mobile devices,' said Park Heon-soo, head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung. The feature will initially launch in the US by the end of the year, with no release date yet announced for Korea. According to Samsung, it will be integrated into the Samsung Health app as a chatbot, connecting wearable devices with broader health care infrastructure. Park emphasized the importance of digital health care solutions that go beyond clinical visits. 'When patients see a doctor, they receive prescriptions — such as losing weight, taking medication, or monitoring blood pressure — but often fail to follow through once they return home. Helping people adhere to those prescriptions in daily life is where digital health begins,' he said. Samsung also plans to integrate an AI-powered health insight engine into its platform. It will analyze users' health data, including medical records, to provide comprehensive insights. If abnormalities are detected, the system will deliver optimized coaching via a generative AI chatbot. To protect sensitive personal data, Samsung will adopt a hybrid privacy strategy that processes information both on-device and in the cloud. 'We will use a hybrid approach that processes personal data on the device while leveraging the cloud for enhanced performance,' Park said. 'Users will be given the option to choose which data stays on the device and what can be shared to the cloud.' For monetization, Samsung is considering business-to-business models, including collaboration with Xealth to create revenue streams, as well as subscription-based or bundled services. Earlier this week, Samsung announced its acquisition of Xealth, a US-based digital health care company. With this acquisition, Samsung aims to integrate its Samsung Health platform to create a unified digital health ecosystem that bridges wellness and clinical data.
