Trainer Evan Williams denies assaulting man
Williams, 54, of Llancarfan, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and enter his pleas during a brief hearing at Cardiff Crown Court.
Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, the Recorder of Cardiff, fixed a trial date for March 3 next year.
Williams was released on conditional bail until his trial.
Byron Broadstock appeared on behalf of the prosecution, while Leah Pollard represented the defendant.
Williams is a multiple Grade One-winning trainer, with his most recent success at the highest level coming in the 2020 Christmas Hurdle via Silver Streak.
He also trained State Of Play to be placed in three Grand Nationals and came second in the Aintree highlight with Cappa Bleu in 2013.

From the archive: Eight lost in bathing accidents
From The Times: July 24, 1925 Three bathers, two men and a woman, were drowned off the Côte des Basques to-day. One of them, Mrs Albert Williams, wife of an Englishman, having ventured beyond the limits where the bathing is considered safe, was warned by a whistle from M Carcabues, the swimming master, who is entrusted with keeping a watch over the bathers. Unfortunately the warning was not heard, and suddenly Mrs Williams struck violently against a rock and sank. Her daughter went to her assistance, but failed to secure her, and was herself only rescued just in time by M Carcabues, while another bather, Mr James Gennet, an artist, of London, who also endeavoured to give assistance, in his turn disappeared. After bringing Miss Williams to safety, M Carcabues again returned to the rock where Mrs Williams had disappeared, and succeeded in securing her and also Mr Gennet, and in fastening them together with a rope in order to bring them back to land; but the force of the waves beating on the rocks was so great that the cord broke, and the heroic rescuer was himself swept away with the other two persons, all three being drowned. Two of the bodies have been recovered, but that of M Carcabues has not yet been found. ● An Aberystwyth message states that three Boy Scouts, of Winsford (Cheshire) Troop, have been drowned. The troop arrived at Aberdovey to camp on Saturday, and a bathing parade took place on Wednesday afternoon, a bathing picket and three lifebelts being ready. The spot was considered safe. There was a shout for help, and Captain Richard Bell, a local man, put out in a motor-boat to assist. The boys appeared panic-stricken, and nine were taken from the sea in a collapsed state. A roll-call proved that Raymond Stringer (19), William Hough (13), and George Egerton were missing. Despite the patrolling of the shore till midnight by residents and Scouts, no trace of them was found. While bathing in the Thames Leonard Johnson (12), of Wedderburn-road, Barking, was drowned. William Cuthbert (18), an engineer, was drowned while bathing at Withernsea yesterday in the presence of his fiancée. He has now been jailed for three years and five months and made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The osteopath has pleaded guilty to three charges of observing a person doing a private act "for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification". Snaresbrook Crown Court heard the offences took place on December 10, 14 and 21 last year. Varinder Hayre, prosecuting, said: "On December 21 at about 9pm, a member of the public reported that a male in a car has been taking photographs and videos of students in university students' accommodation. "The member of the public also said he has seen the male in the car about four years ago." The bystander also called police on December 10 and 14 but officers did not attend, the court heard. Hersborg was caught by police wearing black gloves and had black plastic bags lining the seats. When asked what he was doing, Hersborg claimed he had gone for drinks but felt like he was going to "pass out" on the way home so pulled over. But officers discovered a battery in his pocket and a camera and telescope in his car. Police recovered 68 images and videos that showed a woman in just a T-shirt, a different female sitting in her bedroom and another "seemingly getting dressed". A search was carried out at Hersborg's home and a large quantity of digital devices was seized. He gave no comment in his police interview, except to say he was "sorry for the whole situation". Hersborg is the director of the Central London Osteopathy and Sports Clinic in Old Street. His social media included video of a treatment session with Strictly star Viscountess Emma Weymouth, as well as photos with Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. Hersborg has also worked with Italian Serie A football team Brescia and the Danish Tennis Federation. He has been suspended from practising as an Osteopath by the General Osteopathic Council. Alex Weichselbaum of the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Hersborg operated in plain sight for too long and, having targeted thousands of women over 12 years, we believe the scale and significance of his offending makes him one of London's most prolific voyeurs. "His meticulously planned acts included setting up secret cameras in his clinic and covertly filming women - both in public and when they thought they were in the privacy of their own homes. "Hersborg deliberately abused the trust of his unwitting patients by filming them in intimate positions and targeted strangers for his own sexual gratification. "Women should be free to live their lives without unwanted intrusion – particularly from sexual offenders like Hersborg who deliberately chose to film or photograph them in their most private or intimate moments."

Prior to that he won a Listed contest on the same horse at the home of jumps to mark himself out as a jockey to follow. But now his career looks in disarray after he was read the riot act in a no-holds-barred BHA disciplinary hearing. Lee was found to have taken cocaine two days before a ride - on which he finished second - at Warwick in May. But panel chairman James O'Mahony explained how, in Lee's account of events, it was in a way accidental. The jockey accepted he knew what the white powder was when he put it into his mouth. But contact came about 'inadvertently' when the Class A drug was passed around on some banknotes. O'Mahony said: "He did know what it was, or he had a good idea what it was, and he ingested it, took it deliberately. "So it's not accidental in that sense but he didn't procure it deliberately." While BHA barrister Charlotte Davison said: "He accepted he was aware of what the substance was before he put it into his mouth. "He said, 'I knew full well what I was doing' and described himself as being 'a bit of a plonker' for doing what he did." Lee said in a video sent to the hearing that he had suffered indescribable lows since the positive drugs test. He insisted the whole ordeal had given him a 'kick up the a**e' and added: "I want to help you guys to help me get my licence back as quick as I can." O'Mahony pulled no punches, though. He said: "What you did was utterly stupid. It's a Class A drug for goodness sake. "The authorities must come down hard on any question of cocaine being used by the persons involved in racing." Lee's ban comes a week after news that a John Gosden yard worker who took ketamine three days a week contaminated horses.
