The lad fell just after midnight, and two ambulances rushed to the scene. Tragically, there was nothing they could do to save him. Local police confirmed this morning he was a British national - but gave no further details on his identity. In a separate incident, Evan Thomson, 26, fell to his death at the same hotel exactly two weeks ago. It's understood he had been celebrating on holiday with pals following his birthday last month. Tragically, he too was pronounced dead at the scene. His mum Lel Kellighan broke the sad news on social media a few days later, saying: 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. 'We are all absolutely broken. Please allow us some time.' In the days after Evan's death, his loved ones raised questions about safety at Ibiza Rocks, and was critical over the hotel's handling of the situation. Evan's sister Teila said: 'Ibiza is known for its partying and it just stuns me that they don't have higher safety precautions. 'Pray nobody else suffers. And, once it did happen, the hotel's response was just completely heartbreaking; almost as if it never happened. I pray no other family has to go through this." Friend Blair Robertson, 25, who had been with Evan before he died, claimed: 'Security took us away to front desk. Paramedics didn't arrive for about 30 minutes. "Forensic officers didn't speak English. We were just standing there, not knowing what was going on. Reception gave us false hope." And a THIRD young Brit died from a fall in San Antonio last Monday. The 25-year-old died in hospital from injuries sustained when he fell from a supermarket car park in the town the previous day. He was rushed to an intensive care unit at a private island hospital following the incident. The clinic confirmed he died from his injuries, saying last Monday: 'Regrettably and despite all the efforts of medical personnel, the patient who fell yesterday in San Antonio has died due to the severity of his injuries." Illegal immigrants turned Scots home to £500k drug factory
Two illegal immigrants from Vietnam set up more than 500 cannabis plants inside a three-bedroom Dundee home. A pair of illegal immigrants turned a humble Scottish terrace house into a half a million pounds drug factory. The Vietnamese duo set up more than 500 cannabis plants behind closed doors in a quiet residential street in Dundee after sneaking into the UK. When the property was raided, the cannabis inside the three-bedroom terrace was worth more than four times the value of the £125,000 house itself. Ban Van Nguyen and Long Van Le were caught red-handed tending the huge crop of cannabis plants growing throughout the property at 2 Dighty Gardens in Dundee. Dundee Sheriff Court was told that 510 plants, with a potential value of £382,500, were recovered when the house was raided by police on 16 January this year. The duo had also harvested more than 14 kilos of cannabis with a value of £143,060 and were drying it for onward sale when officers forced their way in. Nguyen, 53, and Le, 33, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis and producing the drug at the property on 16 January this year. Fiscal depute Duncan McKenzie told the court: "In December 2024 and January 2025 Police Scotland received intelligence about a cannabis cultivation in a busy residential area. " Entry was forced and both were found within. Most rooms in the property had been converted into a cannabis cultivation. The bedroom upstairs was used as a drying room. "Cannabis bud was spread across the floor and being dried with a desk fan. Both were arrested. Their DNA was found on various items throughout the property. "There were no reasonable grounds to conclude either was the victim of modern slavery. Neither have any right to remain in the UK. Both are being sought by the Home Office in relation to their immigration status." Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith remanded both men in custody for the preparation of social work reports and warned them to expect to be jailed for a considerable period of time. He noted that an assessment on their background had been carried out already and it had been ruled that neither of the duo had been the victims of human trafficking. "They are often subject to threats and intimidation and are often little more than slaves for their ultimate masters," he said. "You are not in that position. "There requires to be a crystal clear message that courts in Scotland will not tolerate criminal gangs, from wherever they might originate, weaving their way into the fabric of our society and cultivating or distributing drugs, which you both did on a commercial scale. "Deterrence is an important thing for the court to consider in the length of sentence, it being inevitable in both your cases that the court shall sentence you both to imprisonment." Where is Karen Pirie season 2 filmed?
Karen Pirie is back on our screens with the second series of the ITV drama and the stunning locations in Scotland have been revealed The second series of Karen Pirie sees the detective handed a notorious cold case that will place her under relentless examination; from her superior, from journalists, and crucially, from menacing elements that would prefer the past remained buried. The mystery surrounding Catriona and Adam Grant has baffled detectives after the mother and son were snatched at gunpoint outside a chippy in Fife. As Karen endeavours to uncover the truth behind their disappearance, the inquiry leads her throughout Scotland. Discussing the filming locations and the significance of setting to the narrative, director Gareth Bryn revealed: "For me, a strong sense of place is crucial, especially because Val McDermid's writing is so specific. It's hard to stray from the world she creates in her books, so I've aimed to stay as true to it as possible. "Karen's home in the books covers a vast area, which gave us flexibility. In the first series, she was based right in the middle of Kirkcaldy, but for this series, we moved her slightly out of the town. "Time has passed, and with her promotion, it made sense for her to be in a slightly nicer area." He continued: "The landscape plays a significant role in police dramas. If you're not careful, you end up with lots of interior two handers, or interview scenes but in Karen Pirie, the landscape acts as a character itself. "We were spoiled for choice in Fife, with its stately homes and castles. For example, we used two castles: one for exterior shots of the Grant's house, and another for interiors. "We also filmed some scenes in the caves outside St. Andrews, which turned out beautifully. The weather worked in our favour - it was surprisingly sunny, which made filming much easier," reports the Express. Lead actress Lauren Lyle remarked: "It's always amazing to return to Scotland - it feels like a whole character in itself. The landscapes and the people all add so much to the show. I love that we're portraying a modern Scotland with a diverse mix of people and perspectives. "Scotland's sense of humour, that dry, sarcastic tone, really shines through in the show. I also love that it feels universal - it's not just a Scottish story, but something everyone can relate to. It's a privilege to showcase Scotland as a cool, stylish, powerful place beyond the stereotypes of tartan and hills." Chris Jenks, who portrays DC Jason 'Mint' Murray, expressed his delight at filming in his homeland: "Glasgow is such a fun place to film as well - there's loads of stuff going on. Early on, we filmed out in a little cottage in Luss which was a beautiful place to film. I'd love to work in Scotland again," he shared.
