
Kia Electric Truck: What We Know So Far About the New Pickup EV
"Kia plans to introduce an EV pickup truck based on a new EV platform designed for both urban and outdoor use," the company said in April. "The vehicle will feature best-in-class interior and cargo space, a robust towing system, off-road capabilities and advanced infotainment and safety features."
Details right now are fairly slim but some conclusions can be drawn from Kia's statements: The inclusion of off-road capabilities will set the upcoming EV apart from the Hyundai Santa Fe, which is currently the only pickup truck Kia or its sister company sells in the US right now.
It'll be on a new EV platform so it'll also be set apart from the company's existing EV offerings, like the Kia EV6. The infotainment will likely be similar to current model Kia EVs and vehicles, like the dual-display technology in the more recent Kia Sportage SUVs.
Kia last week also showcased its more affordable EV sedan, with CNET on hand to see the 2026 Kia EV4.

Per the statement, Kia is expecting to sell roughly 90,000 of these new EV pickups per year, a lofty goal in a market where the Ford F-150 Lightning is barely hitting 30,000 units sold. By most accounts, it's an ambitious sales goal to hit for a vehicle that'll represent Kia's first attempt at appeasing the US truck buyer market. However, there is still room for optimism.
"The models built on the eGMP line sold over 100K units in 2024," said Liz Najman, director of market insights at Recurrent, a company that offers independent insights on EV performance. "Moreover, like the EV6, Kia pickups will likely be made in the US, helping avoid costly tariffs that will drive up prices for consumers. It is likely that price will be a major factor for consumers in the coming years."
Najman also said that trucks were the two top-selling vehicles in 2024, so it's possible that Kia can reach its sales goals, provided that the automaker can hit that sweet spot of competitive pricing and capability.
"Electric vehicles are seeing strong sales numbers when they deliver on what customers want," Najman said, highlighting that in electric car sales, the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Jeep Wrangler PHEV each sold more than 50,000 units in 2024 and the Model 3 and the Model Y sold more than 150,000 and 370,000 units, respectively.

Fifteen gigabytes of free storage may sound like a lot when you make a Gmail account but it gets filled up quickly. For starters, the 15GB isn't just used for email: It also includes the files you've saved in your Google Drive and Google Photos. If you frequently send or receive messages that contain large files such as videos, or if you find yourself uploading a lot of pictures and videos to your Google Photos, then it won't be long before you'll see the "Account storage is full" notification. Gmail makes it easy for you to identify and delete files by size. Even so, that option might seem tedious; maybe you don't want to spend hours sifting through correspondence from a decade or more ago, deciding which memories to keep and which to get rid of forever. There's always the option to download large files to your desktop before you delete them from your Google account but at some point you'll probably run into the same issue with your local files and have to manage the storage space on your device. This brings us to our "nuclear option:" Transferring all your emails to a new Gmail account. How to transfer your Gmail messages to a new email account Before you start the Gmail transfer process, I recommend that you back up your emails. You can do this by downloading your emails either to your computer or an external hard drive. You can delete the backup after you finish transferring the emails to your new account if you like but it's always a good idea to have an extra copy stored locally. To back up your Gmail messages, go to Google Takeout. Using my test Gmail account that held about 75,000 messages, I got a download from Google Takeout in about 2 hours. Once you've saved a copy of your emails, you're ready to begin transferring them. Here are the steps you need to take: 1. Start by logging into your original Gmail account, clicking the "gear" icon in the top right and clicking See all settings. 2. Select the Forwarding POP/IMAP tab and then select the option Enable POP for all mail (POP stands for Post Office Protocol). 3. You'll have several options under When messages are accessed with POP. To automatically delete the emails from your original account after the transfer, select delete Gmail's copy. 4. Select Save Changes. Now it's time to create your new account and transfer all your messages there: If you haven't already done so, create your brand new, inbox-zero Gmail account -- we'll call this your archive account. 1. Login to your new archive account, click the gear icon at the top and select See all settings. 2. Select the Accounts and Import tab at the top, then select Add a mail account next to Check mail from other accounts. 3. In the pop-up window, enter the name of your original Gmail account. Select Next. 4. Select Import emails from my other account (POP3) and select Next again. 5. Enter the password of your original Gmail account. You might also be required to create a Google app password (see note below). 6. Select 995 under Port. 7. Check these 3 boxes: Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail, Label incoming messages, Archive incoming messages (Skip the Inbox) 8. Select Add Account. You'll probably need to create a Google app password to transfer Gmail messages I tested this Gmail message transfer process twice and both times the standard password for the Gmail accounts did not work. After a bit of research, I determined that I'd need to create a temporary "app password" to sync the accounts. Google app passwords are 16-digit passcodes created for "less secure" apps or devices to access your Google account. They work exactly like your Google password. If your regular Google password doesn't work for syncing Gmail accounts, visit to create an app password. Simply create a name for the password -- I used "Transfer Bulk Email" -- and then hit the Create button. You'll get a pop-up window with your new 16-digit passcode. Once you've created the app password, return to step 6 of the instructions above and use that new app password instead of your usual password. Important: Google will only display your app password once. After you've created it, you can't ask to see it again so be sure to write it down or otherwise record it after it's been created. Google's own Help Center mentions that "app passwords aren't recommended and are unnecessary in most cases." So once you've completed transferring your Gmail messages, I recommend deleting your app password. What happens after my Gmail accounts are synced? Once you've successfully linked your new Gmail archive account to your original account, your emails should begin to transfer automatically. The process could take several hours or days, depending on how many emails you have. In my test account with about 75,000 messages, I found that it took Gmail about 2 full days to transfer all of them from the original account to the new archived mail account. Important: After transferring your Gmail messages to your archived mail account, your original Gmail account will place all those messages in the Trash folder, which you'll need to empty manually. Clearing out those 75,000 messages from the Trash took about an hour. Before transferring Gmail messages, my test account was using a little more than 12GB, or 80%, of Google's free 15GB. After transferring, the account was only using 0.66GB, of which 0.06GB was from Gmail. What Gmail messages won't be transferred? I found that Gmail transferred all of my messages except for two categories -- Drafts and Spam. You'll need to decide what to do with your Drafts manually. Spam messages are automatically deleted every 30 days so you can let Gmail handle that or go into the Spam folder yourself after transferring your mail and delete or forward those messages. Once all of your emails have been imported to your new account, enjoy the experience of inbox zero. You've given your original account a new lease on life. At this point, there are two last steps: You'll want to stop the automatic transfer process so that you can continue using your original account and you'll want to delete that app password if you had to make one. 1. Login to your new account, go into your Settings and select See all settings. 2. Select the Accounts and Import tab, and then select delete for your original account (under Check mail from other accounts.) 3. When prompted to Confirm delete mail account, select OK. If you had to create a Google app password and want to delete it now, go back to and click the trashcan icon next to the password you created. Congrats, you're finished. One important final note: Google will delete accounts that have been inactive for more than two years. So make sure you don't completely ignore all your old emails after transferring them. If you don't plan to regularly use your archive account to send email, you can still keep the account active by signing in at least once every two years.

For Switch or PC Gamers, This Is the Best Affordable Pro Controller You Can Get
If you haven't upgraded your controller to a more pro-level button-masher like the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 or the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro, odds are it's because they're so expensive. That's a perfectly valid reason, especially if you consider yourself a more casual gamer. As a reviewer, I'm privileged to get to test many of them, which is the only way I ever would've been able to use one myself. But what if I told you that you could get quite nearly everything one of those $150-$200 controllers offers for $70? Say hello to the Gulikit KK3 Max. Design and hardware Jason Cockerham/CNET The KK3 Max feels great to hold. At 662 grams, it's nearly twice the weight of the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controller, but it doesn't feel heavy or get tiresome during longer play sessions. The comfortable grips help with that, and you can leave the back paddles off to shave some more grams off if you need to. The weight is pretty evenly distributed, so it feels well balanced. It comes in black, white and a sort of retro color that gives me Super Nintendo vibes. The Hall Effect joysticks and triggers are a welcome feature, as are the two-stage trigger stops that toggle between the Hall Effect analog and digital microswitch triggers. I almost always used the microswitch triggers, and I really like them. Jason Cockerham/CNET Much like on the Elite Wireless, there are four spots for paddles on the back. Gulikit gives you two different style paddles. There are four standard flat paddles and two half-moon-shaped paddles for the top two spots. At first, installing the paddles might feel tough, but the setup is by design. Once you've done it a couple of times, you'll get used to it. The controller doesn't fit into the included plastic carrying case with the paddles on, but the company assured me that taking the paddles off every time you put it in the case won't be a problem. They also offer free replacement paddles within the first year. On the front, the face buttons are all nice and clicky, and I prefer them over the (still great) microswitches on the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro. Gulikit designed the KK3 Max primarily as a Switch controller, so the face buttons are laid out in Nintendo's "backward" configuration. Thankfully, the company also includes extra button caps with the correct layout so you can flip them around for use with other consoles. This also means you get the "+," "–," home, and capture buttons as well. Jason Cockerham/CNET Beneath the Gulikit logo, there's a settings button and an APG button for macros that hardcore gamers might find quite useful. The D-pad is surprisingly nice, but some folks might be disappointed that it's not an 8-way configuration. I personally don't mind, and you can technically enable 8-way directions in the software, but I switched back after the first few minutes and never looked back. Next to the USB-C charging port up top, there's a button to switch connection modes and one to switch between players. The KK3 Max works with Android, iOS, PC and Switch, so if you don't also need Xbox or PlayStation, you're pretty well covered. The 2.4GHz dongle delivers up to 1,000Hz polling rates, which is a pro-level wireless connection. There are also two vibration motors in the grips, but though Gulikit says the intensity and vibration modes are adjustable, I couldn't tell a difference between the settings. Jason Cockerham/CNET Battery life isn't the best, topping out at just under 30 hours with the lights and additional features off and 15 hours with everything on. That's not the worst battery life I've seen, but it's definitely on the lower end. The only real frustration I have with the hardware is the RGB lighting. There's a light ring around each stick, which is customizable, and you can turn them off. However, you can't turn off or even dim the light behind the logo. In a dark room with only the beautiful glow of your monitor, this is extremely distracting. I actually put a piece of black electrical tape over it because it bugged me so much. Software Jason Cockerham/CNET As great as the KK3 Max's hardware is, the software is where things get messy. For starters, there's no dedicated app for PC or mobile. For firmware updates, you have to download the update package from Gulikit's very bare-bones website and copy the upgrade file directly to the wireless receiver on your PC. The company provides instructions on how to do this, but it's a bit tedious and really shouldn't be the case for a controller like this. Jason Cockerham/CNET It's the same situation for remapping the buttons. The only way to do it via software is with Gulikit's web app, which is also bare-bones. In all fairness, I never had any issues with it, but less technically minded folks might find it all a bit intimidating. It's also possible to remap all the buttons and enable the extra features on the controller itself, but much like on the CRKD Neo S, this is a tedious process that'll test your patience. You either have to memorize or look up all the necessary button combinations every time you need to change something. The price makes it all worth it Jason Cockerham/CNET With all the great features and performance of the KK3 Max, I was shocked to find it's typically only about $70 on Amazon, and you can often find it cheaper. Even the full retail price of $80 is still fantastic. The lack of Xbox and PlayStation support might be a deal-breaker for some, but there are plenty of other great pro controller options for those. For everyone else, there's no better pro controller for the money than the KK3 Max. There are even cheaper versions, like the KK3 Pro that ditches some software features and the four flat paddles for around $50, and the base KK3 that just gives you the great basics for around $40.

My Simple Keys to Negotiating a Better Deal for Your Internet Service
Internet service isn't cheap, with the average monthly internet bill coming to around $78. And that often doesn't include equipment rental fees. On top of that, a recent CNET survey revealed that 63% of US adults are paying more for internet than they did last year. Yet, much of what we do -- including remote work, school, telehealth and staying connected with family -- relies on having a solid internet connection, so it's a necessary expense many of us just accept. But what happens when your bill starts creeping up and you don't qualify for low-income internet programs like Lifeline? One way to fight back is by negotiating with your provider, an old-school tactic that can still save you money. My wife is the champion negotiator and dealmaker of our household. Before we met, she'd already crushed significant life moments, including buying a house, hammering out a great deal on a new car and getting the best possible salary offer for a new job. So when it came time to gather guidance for negotiating with your internet service provider, you'd better believe I started with her. "Kindness is key," she said. "Always be friendly and courteous." Why? Because the person on the other end of the phone (or online chat, as the case may be) is much more likely to work with you if met with decency and patience. Your customer service rep isn't doing an easy job and they want to help, so why not start off on the right foot? I could fill an entire column with my wife's negotiating tips and tricks, but I've also sought professional advice from internet insiders. As you might imagine, some gave me standard company lines about how every customer gets the same high-value offers or how each agent works tirelessly to ensure everyone gets the best possible price daily. You know the drill. Locating local internet providers We all know that's not 100% true, or providers wouldn't constantly be changing their promotions and deals. So, after sifting through the best ideas from the pros, here are five steps you should take when negotiating with your internet service provider. 1. Do your research "I think the first thing is to try to be knowledgeable before you make the call," according to EarthLink CEO Glenn Goad. From his perspective, most people aren't familiar enough with their options when contacting an ISP. That puts them at a disadvantage and can lead to getting roped into add-ons or more speed than they actually need. Here's how you can avoid pitfalls like that. Look in the mirror Spend part of your preparation building a case for yourself as a desirable customer. How long have you been with your ISP? If you're two months into a 24-month contract, you're less likely to get any traction on carving out a better deal: Providers often collect an early termination fee if you bail on your existing contract. On the other hand, if you've been with the same ISP for several years, there's a much better chance of finding a flexible attitude. In that case, the provider should be much more motivated to keep you as a subscriber because there's no financial benefit claimed from your loss. Either way, having this basic information handy will help you better make your claim. You can also do yourself a favor and set the stage for a more profitable exchange by paying your bills on time. Once you've built up months or years of steady, on-time payments, the sales agent will likely see you as a valuable customer and one worth keeping happy. Decide what you actually need Don't be an impulsive internet shopper. Before negotiating with your ISP, determine your goals for the call. Keep in mind it's not always just about cutting a deal for a lower monthly bill. Yes, knocking a few bucks off each month's bill is great, but it might not ultimately be the best approach to your household internet needs. For instance, many of us discovered that our previous internet plan was insufficient for increased work-from-home or remote schooling duties during the pandemic. To keep more people (and devices) online simultaneously, a faster internet option is the way to go. An AT&T spokesperson said she advises customers to turn to a fiber network if possible to deal with bandwidth-heavy applications. "However, when fiber isn't available, we recommend choosing the fastest option available based on the customer's need," she said. "With the average number of connected devices continuing to grow, most households would benefit from fast and more reliable speeds." Keep in mind that, according to findings from OpenVault, the average household uses more than 500Mbps a month. If you signed up for a plan with less speed than that, but you have a fair number of devices and moderate internet users in the house, you should consider an upgrade. Insights from this CNET internet speed guide can help you determine how much internet speed you really need, so start there. Perhaps when you signed on with your provider, you chose a starter plan with 100Mbps download speed, but now your family needs much more than that. Focus on securing a faster speed -- maybe more like 300Mbps -- and aim to get more for your money and decrease your cost per Mbps. A plan with faster speeds may boost your network capabilities, and if you consider cost per Mbps, it may also be a better value. Trey Paul/CNET On the flip side, perhaps you signed up for a multi-gigabit speed plan because your ISP touted it as the fastest residential plan available. But do you and the rest of your household really use that much? You might find significant savings by downgrading to a plan that lets you do all the same activities without any discernible difference in performance. For instance, many homes won't notice much difference between a gigabit plan and 500Mbps. 2. Don't always splurge for the speediest plan While download speed is undoubtedly essential in figuring out what type of plan best fits you, it's not the only factor. An Xfinity spokesperson said it's best to look into the total value of an internet service rather than simply stopping at speed. Can you get mobile service included? How about access to Wi-Fi hotspots? Value can come in multiple ways, not just in your download speed. The AT&T spokesperson agreed. "What discounts or special offers are available to you? There may be discount offers for qualifying customers that you should inquire about. Some providers may also offer subscriptions for streaming and other services that could make a package more enticing," she said. You can help yourself out by putting in just a little work before the call. For instance, look beyond download speed and consider your data usage. Are you paying extra for unlimited data and not using it? Or, perhaps more commonly, do you tend to exceed your data limit and incur additional charges? Consider if there's an unlimited add-on option that'll save you money in the long run. Also, gather your facts about what you're currently paying. Do you already have a promo rate? Are there any deals you're taking advantage of right now? You can check out our round-up of some of the best deals, TV bundles and mobile bundles for internet customers. Don't get caught flat-footed, or you'll risk losing a reasonable price in the hunt for a better bargain. If you're not taking advantage of any deals or offers, look up the promotional discounts offered to new customers and ask your ISP to match that. Know your options before you call Sorry to mix metaphors, but if you plan on playing hardball, don't bluff if you have no hand. Before you threaten to cancel your subscription, ensure your address is serviceable for other providers by using tools like the FCC broadband coverage map to see what internet options are available at your address. Otherwise, your ISP will know that you don't have other options. On the other hand, you can politely but squarely use this to your advantage if you do have options. At face value, you might have a cheaper plan than what you found on a competitor's site. But as you consider that alternative option, you might discover it's a fiber connection with much faster upload and download speeds. You could get a faster, better online experience at a lower cost per Mbps for just slightly more per month. But such a pivot might not be available to all. In addition to serviceability, you also have to answer another question. Is switching to another ISP even an option? For instance, if you live in an apartment complex, does your leasing company have an exclusivity agreement with your provider? My wife and I learned this the hard way. When we moved to the Charlotte area, we were excited about ditching our old ISP, but our hopes were dashed when we learned that our housing development had a contract with the same provider, so we didn't have the same range of choices as other city residents. Consider the different internet connection types available at your address. Is satellite internet an option? It's often cast as the only viable alternative for rural or suburban customers. But be aware of satellite dish installation regulations in your area, set by your homeowners association or in your lease rules. Lastly, is 5G home internet an option at your address? Verizon and T-Mobile are aggressively expanding the coverage areas for their respective services and looking to lure new customers. Ask for what you want before you give up You've researched, collected your facts and jotted down your goals for the call. Preparation is the key to success, but now it's time to seal the deal. To get the best deal for your budget, you need to call and ask for what you want. "Any customer has the right to seek changes to their plan if they choose to do so," the AT&T spokesperson said. "There's not really a specific time of year for deals, but customers should check ISPs' websites regularly for any new updates or offers they can take advantage of." Goad offered that moving season from May to October is a prime time to find offers, incentives and promotions. That said, it's also a time when your customer experience might not be as good as if you called during a different time. "If you think about it, if you're going to shop on Black Friday, it's a different experience than if you shop on March 12," Goad said. "So maybe you do your research in the first and second quarter of the year and do your buying in the third quarter when you're fully prepared." If you decide to make your move during the busy season, strongly consider not calling during the busiest time of the day: the lunch hour. Whenever you choose to leap, it's worth repeating: always be courteous. That is foundational to having a good call. Try to be friendly, speak of your length of time with the provider, and highlight your excellent payment history. 5. If at first you don't succeed, try again Here's another tip from my wife: If she gets an agent who doesn't seem willing to work with her or share the same courteous approach, she'll politely end the conversation and try again. If you forget the first four steps, don't get what you need and the conversation goes south, you can try again with a new customer service rep. One colleague I spoke with echoed this advice and shared a story about her customer experience. She was so frustrated with her bill increases that she decided to get on the phone and threatened to cancel. Her hope was the provider would beg her to stay and offer a new promotion.
